I wanted to reach out to other X32 studio users and see if anyone else has experimented with alternative computer connections.
I recently re-wired my studio and decided to move the X32 rack to the other side of the room which puts it about 25 cable feet away from my computer closet. It seems the USB 2.0 extenders are very hit or miss with audio interfaces, so I am trying the Lynx AES16e-50 card so I can use a longer CAT5e cable via AES50 for computer I/O.
In theory this approach should yield slightly lower latency than the x-USB card, provide a better clock source for the X32 (probably negligible difference), and grant me the freedom to move the rack wherever I want.
Has anyone else tried this configuration or used the X-Dante or X-Madi cards?
