You can stack them on their side and get the 20" dimension also
20" is their height (I assume one wouldn't stack speakers on another speaker's grill)

They make all kinds of stuff - even the much talked about Lab. They made some really nice 2x18's with Faital NEO's that were pretty dangerous. My opinion is that the 21" Sub Engine is the most cost effective - lightest - smallest - easiest to move - easiest to use of all the truly dangerous subs.

The VTC ELS118 has received no love for it's looks and dimensions, but it quite possibly shares the same driver as the TH118, and the Orbit Shifter Pro. The 33.75" dimension should also fit in your trailer 2 - wide, correct? And it's the least expensive of the 3. Just something to throw into the mix.

I finally made my decision. Three SRX728S are on order, with another 8 available locally from a friend of mine. The combination of proven performance, size and weight, crossrentability, resale value, the fact that they can be used as speaker stands, and great sound quality made the decision easy. Only issue is that I'll be 'underpowering' them for a while until I pick up a few IT12000HDs.

The DSL TH-118 has used the 18nlw9600-4 in the past, but presently is loaded with the BC18115-4.
Both the 18 sound and the B&C speakers are nearly the same in TS specifications, and can put out A LOT more LF than the drivers used in the JBL SRX 728 cabinets that Silas has decided to go with.

And in a proper tapped horn, those drivers can put out about 6 dB more SPL than in a ported cabinet...

Glad it was an "easy decision" for Silas ;^).

I bet you could pickup three old Crest 8001s for dirt cheap now. 2800W before clip into 4 ohms will work fine, especially since those old iron monsters appear to put out more short term peak power for subs than a lot of amps these days. Best of all, your sub amp rack will only way 240 lbs! You can cancel your gym membership ;)

But, what cabinet is going to have better resale value/be easier to sell/be more rider friendly? JBL is a very well known name. Danley? Not so much...

That situation has been changing monthly for the past few years, and I believe the big time rider friendly spec is only a matter of (a little more) time.

Grant-the Orbit Shifter uses a proprietary beast of an 18" driver that is non neo, and weighs in at 64lbs. See the attached photo.

Interesting, indeed they are extremely similar. The B&C 18SW115 is less expensive (though still by no means inexpensive) than the 18 Sound. Both appear to be very good drivers. Too bad you are so far away Art. I'd like to hear either one in your Keystone sub... it appears to be a fine DIY effort.
