Soundcraft Si Impact

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

New Soundcraft mixer. $2700 is what I'm starting to hear. 24 faders, 32 inputs.

I probably would have bought this over the X32, but they were 2 years too late. The big deal here, 4 band fully parametric EQ and scribble strips! Way to go playing catch up Soundcraft! Now let's see if you can make a remote app that will actually work!

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

I agree. When I was looking, the feature set of the X32 at that price point couldn't be beat. This looks like a cool board, but not enough to trade my infrastructure over now.

Something that really bugs me about it though, is picture 6, where it shows the stage box mounted incorrectly in the gator case. Gah, I hate when equipment isn't properly aligned in rack spaces like it is supposed to be. WTF??

That's funny. I saw that too and it made my skin crawl! HAHA. I think it's a Guitar Center thing.

That image is like a serving suggestion for food... you don't have to mount your stagebox like that, and we aren't implying that is correct! That is just how our photographer wanted to mount it... I had no say...

If it's any consolation now, we have just announced the new ViSi listen app which is a cross platform (iOS, andriod), cross device (tablet, phone) monitoring app that allows musicians to make their own monitor mix and more importantly, the engineer to lock out each device to a certain mix bus. This control is done at the mixer end.

Regardless guys, you have a console that works and if you're happy then it's all good! This is just our new offering for those who are still undecided or are ready to upgrade.

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

Hi Tim!

Our app does indeed work! We have control of ALL fader functions (mix busses, GEQ, fader levels) and all input strip functions (Input gain, 48v, HPF, Gate, Comp, EQ, Output delay, Pan etc) and all with pretty graphs and grab-able EQ curves and Comp thresholds, bouncing balls and such like. It may not do everything, but it does work mate! ;)

Also, we have just announced the new ViSi listen app which is a cross platform (iOS, android), cross device (tablet, phone) monitoring app that allows musicians to make their own monitor mix and the engineer to lock out each device to a certain mix bus.

Anyways, as I said below, you've got a console that works so it's all good man! Rock on.

I'm here if you fancy asking any questions about Soundcraft products or if you fancy inquiring more about the new Si Impact.

I'm OK with centering it in the rack; what bugs me more is the rack is upside down. :)

Congrats on what seems like a very nice product.

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

When will the Si Impact be available for purchase in Sweden? Do you have more information about the ViSi listen app?

I know you have an app now. Although it is not as robust as other manufacturers apps.

I was more referring to the fact that when the Vi system was released, there was no remote app, and the offline editor was pretty rough too. When Si (big desks) hit the market, there was nothing in the way of remote or editing apps. Then ViSi was released with the compact line and it wouldn't stay connected to anything.

The app was finally fixed, but it is still generations behind the functionality of the apps from other vendors.

Also, it really bugs me that the Vi was on the market for years before the user define buttons were functional. Soundcraft needs to get their software game locked down if you want to compete.

Please don't take this as criticism. I am a big soundcraft fan and love the Vi over all other pro desks. I just want SC to step up and be the A level manufacturer that they should be!

Well said. I haven't checked in a few months but the Vi app still sucked last time I checked, basically just faders. Again, I may need to update. The point is I went so long without it that now I have given up on it. I LOVE the Vi Console, the app was ridiculously useless long after even the cheapest consoles had good apps. I agree with Tim that that is a shame. Your $3000 console app should not be better than the $20000 console app IMO.

Hi Per,

We are shipping in the next few weeks and we should have units coming that way soon. For exact dates, it is best to contact your local distributor which i believe is Septon Electronics: www.septon.se

ViSi Listen will allow you to lockout busses based on HiQnet addresses, allowing musicians to adjust their own mixes BUT ONLY THEIR OWN MIXES without risking your FOH mix or another musician's aux. The app allows you to create custom fader view groups so musicians can tailor their interface for their needs and preferences and only show what they need.
Creating access to ViSi Listen is done on the console, allowing the engineer/console operator to control the show and keep everyone in their own mix.
We know a lot of you have been asking for this for sometime, along with Android and phone capability, so we are very happy to bring this to you. This app is truly cross-platform/cross-device and will be available for the App Store and Play store.

The app is currently undergoing rigorous testing for performance and compatibility across all devices. Android devices are especially tricky due to different makes/models and different screen sizes. We are working flat-out on this and we hope to have this before your summer touring season.

Does Soundcraft have any plans to release an update for the tablet app that will allow the application to follow your navigation on the Si series? Or is this currently a feature on the impact? Currently using expression 3, considering purchasing another digital compact for our venue. This is a feature I've been pining for

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

- ViSi still doesn't have Tap Tempo.

It needs a lot of other stuff too, but this is the main thing currently preventing me from delivering good mixes with an iPad.

The I Pad1 was released on the 27th of January 2010. I was touring Vi6 in 2009 and the SI3 was an old console then. I think asking Software People to design Software for future unknown Hardware 3rd Party products is a bit of a tall Order. Maybe you want to lend them your Crystal Ball.
Just saying

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

Yet Studio Manager had been around and kicking ass for years before the Vi/Si platforms were released.

All the other desks had some kind of offline editor. Except Soundcraft.

Again, not knocking the product. Just trying to say get your shit together, Soundcraft. I want to use your products, but the world of production needs edit and control software nowadays.

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

I am knocking their software for the Vi Consoles. Horrible app. Basically faders only. Very disappointing on this level of console

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

My 2-cents as a former Soundcraft Si Expression 2 owner.
I recently jumped to a Allen & Heath QU-16 and QU-32. The QU iPad app is a step above the Visi app, in my mind, for 2 reasons.
One is the ability to set delay times with tap tempo on the iPad. Second is the ability to engage mute groups remotely.
The Si sounded great, but for my analog-trained brain, I find the A&H workflow easier.

Re: Soundcraft Si Impact

Hi everybody (sorry for my bad english)
I am interested in the Soundcraft Si Impact console. Does anybody knows if there wil be a DAW control available on this console (emulation of HUI or Mackie Control protocols) on Mac OSX systems. I could not find a note in the user manual on the Web. Thanks!
