X32 Discussion

re: X32 Discussion

I'd take them up, 70km, 130km.

My nearest city with music stores is 280km away. I probably go once every 6 weeks or so...

But then that's 280km of pretty much open road. Takes me about 2.5 hours. I imagine 130km through Europe is a different matter....

I have hardly ever been in that general area of the world travelling below 120km/h except for turnoffs and petrolbreaks ;-)

My nearest service workshop is roughly five hours away, I don't know if they do Behringer much less if they are approved.
Pretty much the whole of mainland Northern Europe is within 5 hours travel of the Cologne area :)

My situation is that the money was budgeted for and we paid in full at the old price. I'd be very upset if they didn't honor the sale.

They don't really have a choice - as you paid there is a legal contract in existence between you. If they refuse to honour it you can buy the console elsewhere and recover the additional cost via the small claims courts. I very much doubt it will come to that.

Christian,

I would be interested in the general settings for this setup!

Thanks,

karl

Christian has to mix a band.. what else! But he is trying analog, today ;)

Give me a try to explain:

Getting Sync:
Connect both consoles to AES50A and set Sync (Monitor Console -> Local; FOH-> AES50A

Monitor Console:
(Getting Mains from FOH)
1. Routing->Home-> Assign AUX1-4 to AES50A A1-4
2. Output 15 -> Direct out AUX1 pre EQ
3. Output 16 -> Direct out AUX2 pre EQ
(If the PA should get Signal from Outputs 15/16)
If you choose post fader you are able to adjust the L/R signal from the monitor desk, but then you have to disable AUX1/2 from the main mix!!

FOH Console:
MainL post Fader to Output1 ; MainR post Fader to Output2 (Out 1-8 are routed to AES50A 1-8 by default)
Talkback/ CD (Output 3/4) to AUX 3/4 same thing..

interesting Monitor Options to think about:
Solo follows Select
Select follows Solo
PFL Dim
Use Master Fader
Monitor Busses pre/post fader

I hope you get it! It makes sense to save the 2-desk option in both desk's Library

Greetz,
Tobi

Thanks Tobi! When I get my second console in this will give me a great starting point!

I may have more questions at that time!

Thanks,

Karl

Re: Case for X32

Looks like Gator has introduced a nice case for the X32 ...

http://www.gatorcases.com/p/210195-2001/g-tour-x32

Yikes ... I just looked at the weight in the specifications! Could that be right for an empty case?

Yepper. It looks more like a "real" road case than I've previously seen from Gator, who I equate with molded plastic that offers little protection.

The mixer is a mission-critical piece of gear and the one thing you probably don't carry a spare for. It should be cased and treated accordingly.

Re: Case for X32

Is there any way to configure the console to have preamp control when you are getting input from the FireWire card? It turns into a trim which is pretty useless for me when I have a singer that checks the mic quietly then screams when the set starts..

Besides switching back to console input, adjusting the pre, then switching back to the card.

This is puzzling to me. A digital input doesn't go through a pre(amp).

I would think you need to adjust it where the mic actually connects. The desk should only have a digital trim at that point.

Perhaps you could describe the setup a bit more?

I'm using the desk for inputs 1-16 then 17-24 are sent out via firewire to my macbook pro running logic so I can use waves desser on vocals. So I'm using card input 17-24.

Using 24 channels of input from an analog snake. I get that it should be a digital trim when it comes back into the desk.. but what I'm asking is there there any way to adjust the preamp level besides switching back to desk input 17-24 then back to card input 17-24

My signal flow for channels 17-24 being.. snake>analog desk input>X32 firewire output to macbook pro>macbook pro output to X32

Does that make sense?

Makes sense to me now. Maybe you can use an iPad to do the preamp gains?
Someone who knows the desk at know.

Well, from my hometown it's pretty much one big highway straight to Düsseldorf :p So I think I'm gonna go after all. At least I'll be sure the repair is done by the people with the right knowhow.
