X32 Discussion

re: X32 Discussion

Well just home after doing my first live gig with my x32.

Basic enough gig for Scotland's biggest radio station, outside at a street party.

4 radio mics for 4 radio presenters, 5th audio mic for two tribute acts (lady gaga ang paolo nutini), stereo feed from a cd player and another 2 stereo pairs from two laptops.

Outputs were FOH, one on stage monitor , and a 8 channel feed to 3 video cameras filming the event.

I will post some pictures tomorrow but the sound was first class :)

Even picked up 3 new customers. The tribute acts loved the sound and the effects.

Used my rta on my iPad to ring out foh and the monitor so no feedback all night.

Used the new iPad app to mix from the audience and it worked flawlessly . Eq would be nice as well as effects but it's still early days.

So that's the good bits now the bad :-(

I plugged in a 8gig USB stick before the gig and pressed record ( the cassette started turning) left it running for the whole gig (3 hours) and then pressed stop. Unplugged the stick , plugged it into my laptop to burn it to DVD for the camera crew and the radio station and found it recorded nothing !! I've tested it multiple times at home and it worked every time but not for 3 hours so, is there a limit to the length of recording you can make ??

I am going to test it again in the morning.

re: X32 Discussion

Hopefully, Behringer takes care of the channel 16 and 32 issue soon; it's bleeding time, money, and perception of quality.

I'm sure it was fixed immediately, but you have to keep in mind that once they found out about the problem they already had how many thousand units built and in shipping containers on their way to other countries..
I guarantee the ones leaving the factory today won't have that problem.

re: X32 Discussion

Hmm I can't get it to update the version. I have a SanDisk 8GB Cruzer. I have copied both the zip file and the extracted files to the root directory and no luck so far.

It doesn't appear to even be trying to read the memory.

Any suggestions?

re: X32 Discussion

I don't know if this is how is meant to be, but when using the new Ipad app and pressing sends on faders, the meters on each channel on the ipad don't work, if you go to the sends page on each channel the meters work perfect... The Glitch just happens if you press Sends on Faders, youcan adjust the volume moving the faders but won't see the meters working, please behringer take note of that on the new app...

I will also join those asking for the eq on the app

If it can't even read it, then the usb drive might not be in FAT format.

re: X32 Discussion

Had that problem at first with mine as well.....apparently the usb port does not always read the usb drive everytime....try it on another usb drive.....had to copy my firmware onto another stick that it read and updated

re: X32 Discussion

Kevin....the usb port apparently does not always read certain usb drives....you have to make sure the drive light (red) activates when you insert the usb drive....maybe that is why it didn't record your show

I did reformat.

To clarify it does read the USB drive. But it doesn't appear to access it while booting in order to process the update.

I assume the unzipped file is what needs to be in the root directory?

Sucks that there isn't a way to know if a brand new USB drive will work or not.

It happened to me - a new USB drive - no update when turned system on. However, I then tried the alternative - boot up desk - insert usb drive and then reboot from the set-up menu (initialise - console) and hey presto 1.8 loaded.

re: X32 Discussion

I got our x32 this week and set it up. Loving it so far! We also bought the p16m's to go with it and everything works perfectly. I was wondering what the panning law is? We hooked the system up to run stereo but the board is not panning all the way. Not sure what is going on but would love to get a touch more panning through the house, especially with our keys.

There is a limit, can't remember were I read it, but either 2GB or 2 hours I think it was

Had the same issue with mine. Kept it plugged in. Changed the sample rate in my console which asked for a reboot. After the reboot it did read the usb flash drive and updated the firmware. The sample rate change was just to reboot the device and not an actual issue related to the usb drive

re: X32 Discussion

Anyone tried using an airport express as wireless router for the x32? I don't have an iPad (or Windows machine for that matter) so i havn't been able to try out any remote setup. The good thing about using an airport express if your on iOS is of course AirPlay. AirPlay worked just fine when i tested it yesterday.

re: X32 Discussion

If it's FAT32 then there's a 2GB size limit.

from page 32 of the user manual:

"Due to the FAT format of the stick, the file size will be limited to 2 GB, which is
about 3 hours of stereo recording. Please test the recording capability of your USB
device before you do the “real stuff” as some sticks may not be supported or be
too slow. We also recommend you defragment your USB device prior to recording.
The recording will be done as 16-bit WAV file with the selected sample frequency
of the console."

Sorry the reply was meant for this post by Jared Koopman :

That is my plan! I've a rack ready to go with an airport express in the back of a power distribution unit but I'm still awaiting my X32 to try it

Sweet! The cable (if jack is on top of device) tends to get in the way of the user programmable buttons. Maby no big deal
but AirPlay makes is clean and cordless.

Ah , that explains it !! Strange thou as fat32 has a max file size of 4gb !

That being said , I think this needs a firmware change !! The mixer didn't tell me it had run out of space and didn't record just 2gb . It just wrote the file name and nothing in it.

How about changing the firmware to detect the file system, warn the user about the file size, and instead of just writing nothing write the 2 gig then start a new file for another 2gb etc etc.
