re: X32 Discussion
Here's the reasoning behind the limitation:
Ah , that explains it !! Strange thou as fat32 has a max file size of 4gb !
That being said , I think this needs a firmware change !! The mixer didn't tell me it had run out of space and didn't record just 2gb . It just wrote the file name and nothing in it.
How about changing the firmware to detect the file system, warn the user about the file size, and instead of just writing nothing write the 2 gig then start a new file for another 2gb etc etc.

Here's the reasoning behind the limitation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAV said:The WAV format is limited to files that are less than 4 GB, because of its use of a 32-bit unsigned integer to record the file size header (some programs limit the file size to 2 GB).[15] Although this is equivalent to about 6.8 hours of CD-quality audio (44.1 kHz, 16-bit stereo), it is sometimes necessary to exceed this limit, especially when greater sampling rates or bit resolutions are required. The W64 format was therefore created for use in Sound Forge. Its 64-bit header allows for much longer recording times. The RF64 format specified by the European Broadcasting Union has also been created to solve this problem.
Unlike formats like FLAC, WAV files don't usually have information fields, for instance, in the case of a song, title, artist, album, year, etc.[16]
