re: X32 Discussion

Ive tried to sign up for this forum and it never sends me the activation email. Tried several time and checked my spam filter, still nothing.

Hi Kevin,

I will look into this tomorrow with our web team.

Should be fixed, (if this is an issue), within a day.

re: X32 Discussion

Hi, I have the X32 and it's been great so far. It's my first digital board, and I have never used any recording/playback software before. I'd really like to be able to use this aspect and features but not quite sure where to start. I have and would be using PC laptops/tablets for this (I already have the Xcontrol for PC up and working fine) but I don't believe my tablet has a firewire card, so would USB work OK?.

I'm looking for a basic PC-based setup, and don't need tons of advanced features, just basic stuff I can learn without issues or technical problems. I have seen, but never used, the StudioLive recording/playback software and that seems fine. I would be using my setup to record live shows, maybe do some editing, playback stuff, etc. I see a lot of references to Reaper software and a couple others. Would that be a good one to look at? Any advice, recommendations, or info as to how to get up and running with this would be appreciated!

re: X32 Discussion

Both applications should have the same change control and development style.

Because the XControl app can modify settings on the X32 in real-time, that can lead to problems, just as a firmware problem can.

For example, there was a problem with the last version of XControl (I haven't checked this version):

- On the X32, set Panning Mode to "LR+Mono (default)".
- Start XControl, connect, and do a Sync from Console -> PC.
- Go to the Global Page on XControl.
- The X32 Panning Mode will be changed to "LCR enable". (The Panning Mode is not being correctly sync'd, and its default in XControl is "LCR enable," which is passed back to the X32 when you go to that page.)

(Forgive me if I'm wrong in the test order... It was weeks ago that I found this problem. I was going to mention it, but it slipped my mind. There has been a couple of firmware updates since then, too.)

Do that during a live show, and that has unintended consequences that aren't good.

Who knows, this problem could be a firmware problem, not an XControl problem.

Bottom line, when we have two pieces of software interacting with each other, they need to be fully tested together, with every iteration of release. They aren’t islands unto themselves.

Hi Eric,

I will send this on to the development team and get back to you on this.

re: X32 Discussion

Got an X32 for our church last week. Very impressed with it's functionality and ease of us. Had a little problem today when I pressed the view button beside the usb stick with the intention of stopping the recording. I was suprised to see the tape turning emulation was not working, we tried some buttons on the desk and nothing would work. After about 10 seconds it recovered again. Has anyone had a similar experience? I understand some more expensive desks have problems sometimes with usb sticks but in this case I only got as far as pressing the view button.

Hi Rob,

Our Product Specialists have had great results on the PC platform with Reaper.
If you go that route, we can help you out if needed.

re: X32 Discussion

I'm not sure if this was covered in this forum before, but is it possible to have the Master Fader routed to the Monitor?Control room outputs ?
Otherwise the desk works 100%, no noise or anything weird, I updated to 1.08 and everything works great :)

Thanx

re: X32 Discussion

Quick question:
I have been using the powerplay system since the day they started shipping in the US. I own 10 mixers, 1 input module and 1 distro. I love em and so does everyone who uses them. My problem seems is that now with the X32 (that i own) I can only use one distro out of the mixer which only has 8 outputs. And behringer says you cant run a distro into a distro, and i really dont want to have to start powering the mixers individually and running the thru port...does anyone have any ideas? Bc without the input unit it seems that you are limited to 8 mixers powered over ethernet? I assumes that once the S16s start shipping I can get another distro but what can I do now?

Hi Shy,

I have confirmed that you can take any "powered P16 Output" and plug it into additional P16D units, (for more powered P16 feeds). This included your example: X32 ULTRANET out to P16D, then taking any one of the free P16D outputs, and feeding another P16D Input, and on and on... We have tested up to 64 powered P16M mixer stations.

Hope it helps.

Hi Philip,

Version 1.09 will have some fixes on the USB recorder functions.
Should be out VERY soon...

Hi,

I have a similar problem with one particular stick.

As others have mentioned, some sticks work well, others don't.

I have one stick that works to save Shows, but can't be used to do a firmware upgrade.

Graphics guy getting used to X32

Firstly this is my first venture into digital, what a great desk for the money!!

Can one of you experienced sound guys help me out? I want to place a single graphic over say eight identical channels of lavalier mics, what's the best way to achieve this?

Also I am currently using linked mix busses (ie in stereo) to output my active subs and my delays. I am told by an LS9 user I should be using the matrix, what's your view?

Ps works fine for me, as I have it set up, just curious as to the correct or normal way. I also realise there is no need to output stereo for the subs but I have a pair and it's easier to have separate cable runs.

re: X32 Discussion

i had a problem with my one too that i found was due to the software that created the wav file !! when I tried another application it worked fine. (audiograbber worked)
Kev
Cool, it works now !

i have a gig next week with 6 bands and 3 djs. I will be mixing monitors with the X32. The foh is handled by an m7cl. What is the best configuration for mon mix. I will have 8 wedges and 4 IEM plus 2 side fills, the side fills can be pre, the rest should normally be post fader ?

I assume you could config a mix bus as a group, route the group to LR (I can't remember if it does so automatically or not), send the lavs to that mix bus, and then insert fx5 (or whatever) and set it as a graphic EQ. I don't have the console in front of me to determine the exact steps, but I've done something similar to compress a group of inputs already.

Re: Graphics guy getting used to X32

The MTX-Main faders are still grayed out in iControl app

To get around this, how are you folks controlling master volume? I realize that you could bring down various other busses/DCA/faders, but that would be very cumbersome. This seems like something that Behringer would jump on right away, just as a quick maintenance release.

Anybody from Behringer - is there any word on when this bug will be fixed? An earlier poster had the same problem and after going through tech support, it was definitely determined to be a bug in the app. I have the latest version, at least the most recent on Apple's server.

Thanks.

Trim click I hear on mains

Hola again,

while playing around with the console, I experience something I do not like ...

I connected a powered speaker to out 1 of the console. Volume on the speaker was centered, if I turn from left to right the trim or gain nob of an input, I can hear the click of the trim nob. This only happens for out 1 so far ...

is there other people experiencing such ?

VST (ezdrummer) input

Is it possible to run VST plugins (ezdrummer) on a computer that's connected to the X32 via FiWi and bring those straight into the X32? Would I have to use a black of 8 channels to do this? (I only wanted to allot 4 or 5 channels for drums.)

It sounds like what you are describing is what has been referred to as the zipper effect. Even very expensive digital consoles act that way. You are hearing the step attenuators in the front end of the console. This is why with digital you don’t want to be mixing on your input gain knobs. I think there is a second stage trim (?+- 12db?) that should be after the gain that has the zipper effect.

It is "zipper noise." Other digital mixers have it, too, with some better, some worse than others.

Hi,

I'm gonna buy a X32, but just wondering 1 thing I want to know.

I'm currently in Japan, if I buy it here and return back to the UK in a few months will the 3 year warranty be available to me in the UK?
How do I go about making sure. I don't want to have to return it to store in Japan if anything is wrong.

Also anyone who bought from Thomann, did they have to pay extra (upto €100) for shipping from what the website states (€40) to outside the EU?

Craig.
