X32 Discussion

Re: rack vs core

One more routing question for the x32.

My mix buses (monitors) 1 thru 8 set pre fader and pre channel strip EQ such that the EQ section in channel strips 1-32 doesn't effect the mix buss's (monitors).

However, the channel strip dynamics (gates and comps) are showing up in the buss mixes.

How (where) do I set my pick off point for the mix buss's to be PRE dynamics?

I can't have the channel strip compression (or gates) showing up in the monitor wedges.

This is easy to sort out on my LS9 but where I do this on the x32 has me stumped.

HELP!

Re: X32 Discussion

Hi there,

I'm a new to this forum. My church started with the X32 in December. Regarding the LCR mode, the manual wasn't quite clear on how the board behaves in this mode. Here is what I would like the pan to behave:

Center: Center speaker only
Hard Left: only Left Speaker
Between L and C: only L and C speakers (varying with respect to pan), no sound in R speaker
Between R and C: only R and C speakers (varying with respect to pan), no sound in L speaker
Hard Right: only Right Speaker

Is this how the X32 behaves in the LCR mode?

Thanks for your time!

Bob

Re: rack vs core

I see my wallet getting a bit more empty, the X32 rack will work great in a few situations where I only need 10 or so inputs and don't mind mixing from laptop/ipad.

I was planning on buying a s16, I think I'll be waiting for the x32 rack instead... Especially at the 1499 price. when I need a digital snake, I can use it, when I have a small gig I can use it, and... I'll always have a 'backup' mixer (at least for 16in/8out)

Way to go Behringer!!! You guys changed the game, and now keep raising the bar.

one thing I would like to see in a future firmware release, is the ability to use the x32 as a remote for the x32 rack/core, controlling all functions. that way I can get some extra effects busses and separate outputs, while still being able to drive from FOH.

That is a great idea using the XRack as a stage box back redundancy mixer combo.

Re: rack vs core

How (where) do I set my pick off point for the mix buss's to be PRE dynamics.
HELP!

1. You want to control the output volume of your mixbuses with the mixbus faders. Therefore, make sure your mixbuses are set to POST fader (Routing->analog out). The red 'Pre' LED above the mixbus channel faders must not be lit.

2. Select the input channel you want to send to a mixbus.

3. Go to "Home" and make sure the Dynamics of this channel are set to "Pre EQ".

4. Go to "Home->sends" and select "Pre EQ" for the corresponding mixbuses. I believe this option is controllable with page 2 of this view but I don´t have the desk in front of me so I´m not 100% sure.

5. Do this for every channel you want to send "pre dynamics" to a mixbus.

Now the send to the mixbus will be pre dynamics and pre eq.

Hope this helps.

Re: FYI: firmware 1.12 update issue

Hello to all,

I tried to update my desk but no stick I used worked. Then I saw that the name of the file did not follow the same name pattern as the previous update file. After renaming the file to dcp_corefs_1.12.update the update was successful.

I'm having a problem too. Tried the same stick I used previously to update and it seemed to partially start the update then just booted normally with the 1.11 update still there.

Tried 3 other sticks with no luck.

Will try the rename file trick now.

Seems to be working with a mere 128MB stick now. Success.

I would never have thought to change the file name myself.

Good call.

Thanks for posting.

Re: rack vs core

I don't see the value in the Core over the rack version unless it's for an installation or if it can be used to expand channels on an existing console.

You'd have to buy at least one S16 with the core.

So you'd be talking $899 (S16) + $999 (Core) vs $1499 for the rack.
If you already have the S16s then no reason to get the rack - core + S16's and xcontrol provides a very transportable rig for smaller venues!

I agree with you, I found the X32Core sensational entrance as the "Family X32", but with the price shown is not feasible to buy it for 80% of applications utilize analog input, thus making it more feasible X32Rack.

I am troubled by some of the X32Core sell and get out of line soon. For X32Rack not cannibalize the X32Core is necessary to revise the price (or X32Core, or S16).

It would be very important if the X32Core also had 8input analog factory.

Anyone know him say that the display changes color in the same conportamento the original X32?

After seeing possible pricing on Soundcraft's new stagboxes: 16x8 MAP$899
32x16 MAP $1299, I think Behringer needs to offer a 32x16 stagebox as well.

Re: Setting mixbuses to be pre-gate

According to the block diagram in the manual on page 65 it is not possible to configure the sends to be "pre-gate".

Thanks Thomas for the detailed 'how to' earlier. I guess I can live with post gate monitor sends. I've always been able to set up my other boards pre gate and pre comps.

Is there a reason to want post gate monitor send I haven't considered?

Wow. I'm surprised it took me this long to discover this. I guess I figured that "Pre-EQ" also meant "Pre-Dynamics" (including gate).

I've never, ever used gates on the monitors. Is that a regular thing? Is that how most other boards work? I was using a Mixwizard with comps/gates
inserted on the channel and the aux sends were sourced pre insert.

I guess its OK, and actually may help some, assuming that you are very quick and effective at setting the gate. I can easily see the talent complaining
of a "chopping sound" in there IEM's if the gate is set a little too tight.

Do most of you guys run the dynamics pre or post EQ? Again I would think you'd run the dynamics PRE so that while manipulating the EQ it doesn't change
the response of the dynamics. But it seems that factory set is post EQ. Hmmm..

X32 Core

looking at the Core ( for some reason I have been calling it the control!!!!) on the behringer site the input selector and corresponding LCD mini display seems to be able to select amongst others - Aux inputs but as there are none on the S16 where would this be fed from for "selecting"? -( or is just if there is an internal routing - can't recall but can an input be rerouted as an aux input!!!!???)

If I understand you correctly - Yes, fader channel #1 (or any of the others) can be assigned to have its input from the physical aux/trs input.

A fader channel can even be routed to take its input from the busses...
