X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Discussion

Not to sound like an ungrateful consumer, I'm loving the new offerings, and I will own one or two
BUT - they sooooo should made a fader surface or a "wing", and I guess they still could... that would have been awesome.

Example... X32 rack + S16 + fader wing or two, depending on the fader count you want - out front with VGA output to full sized monitor.

And extra layers for more than 32 ch. utilizing the Core, no need for the x32 rack. Just a surface with AES & VGA out + S16s + Cores!

Re: X32 Discussion

I don't think someone in the Midas price range/league would buy the Behringer over it if the channel count was the same.

Thats the whole idea. There is a line in the sand that TMG has drawn, all on one side is covered by the Behringer X32 series, all on the other by the Midas Pro series. While that line is quite wide (in price) it means here are no gaps in the full range of digital mixers TMG offer.

Re: X32 Discussion

I'm in for the Core. Like Per said, I already have three S16 and with the Core this makes a nice live recording setup. In addition this a nice backup solution as well, if your regular X32 should ever fail. Store your soundcheck to a USB drive and in "a case of emergency", load the show into the core and get the job done. I'm also in for the X32 Rack, this will replace my Focusrite Saffire studio gear. The X32 Rack with one S16 for the lage recording room is a nice one for mid sized studios. Together with the P16Ms the combination just rocks.
To sum it up, Behringer really picked up some of the ideas this forum mentioned and I like to thank you all for this:-)

Re: X32 Discussion

I'd like to see the Core used to expand the channel counts on the x32, but I don't see any additional layer buttons on any of the new consoles. 48- 64 inputs would rock. The new Soundcraft can expand to 66 channels, iirc.

Selecting layers can be done by pushing two buttons simultaniously, like the extra bands on the parametric, so it can be done if they want to. Obviously, with some of the new hardware coming out, more remote options needs to be implemented, like controlling the preamps of the Rack from an X32, directly patching from AES50 to local outs, to name just two. Implementing fader layers to control remote channels would fit nicely in the list of must haves, and a bus interconnect via AES50 is no big stretch of the imagination either.

Producer vs Compact

Anyone know the difference between the compact and producer other than rack mount-ability?
There are some buttons missing, namely the Scenes and Mute Groups, and no electronic scribble strips. My theory is that the Producer is aimed towards the Video/TV studio market - the Rack mount means it would likely drop right into a production desk, the lack of scribble strips is indicative of the fact that channel labels probably wouldn't change often, and mute groups/scenes aren't something typically found in a video environment.

That's my thoughts.

(BTW, am I the only one missing Assign buttons 1-4 on the Producer?)

Re: xcontrol v1

Just tried the Windows V1 Xcontrol and its a shame it still doesn't support full screen :(~:-(~

Never mind I still love it, just not love it love it

Kev

A minute or two before now I thought that I have to find some time to develop a SAC like windows surface for the X32. If they wont do it another one must do it. I played around a little bit with .NET and it is working so far. The only thing i could not manage is to get the meters. So we will see;-)
