You have got to be insane ULI ! This software was around at the Last Supper. It sucked when Mackie had it,in fact hey are most likely doing a jig at Mackie after hearing this announcement. The GUI is like a child's coloring book. Studio owners are using Protools, Cubase , Nuendo, Reaper and even , God forbid the satanic SONAR. I love your support service for the X32, I love theX32. How could you release this so called DAW and and still want to be taken seriously by the pro audio community . Why not work on the i/o/ ,the networking, the sample rates, or even the card interface. To release this DAW as a "big announcement" is akin to posting a billboard on a dating site saying ,"have crabs,will travel". Sorry but how could you!!!:roll::roll::roll::lol:

Dear Barry,

I certainly respect your opinion, however there are some angles you might not be aware of.

While I understand that this DAW didn't see much improvement over the past years, the version 4 got upgraded quite a bit by the original developers who are now back on board. We have been working with the team over the past months and I have to say that these are great people we have much respect for.

In fact our X32 development engineers are now closely working with the Tracktion team in order to further improve its DAW functionality and to integrate it seamlessly with our products. Allow the Tracktion team to surprise you with some pretty amazing features that are in the pipeline.

While Tracktion might not be your preferred DAW, we believe the current version is a pretty useful tool especially since it is now working on almost all standard platforms.

We will certainly continue to support all other DAW's and are working with these development teams as well to make sure the X32 family perfectly integrates with the DAW of your choice.

And finally, we're offering Tracktion for free with a large range of our products. This I believe is a good thing.

Well, fact is: Everyone who is in the recording business for a longer time, has choosen his favored audio sequenzer already..may it Cubase, Logic, Reaper or what ever.
For all the beginners the free Tracktion offer is a nice add on to the Behringer hardware, especially when the functionality of Tracktion and the Behringer gear is taken care of from both parties.

BTW: Just payed the Tracktion website a visit. It says:

Not bad at all for a "freebee".

I must say, the possebilities are impressive for a DAW at this price point.

At the end I looked into the Tracktion forum, in my eyes, a forum says a lot of how customers are treated and how open minded the developers are to feature requests.
The forum made a good impression to me.

Personally I made the switch from Cubase to Studio One (among other things) because of, how Steinberg (respectively some of their forums moderators) treated customers in their own forum.
People got banned for nothing, or just for making feature requests or respectfully complaining about a "Solo" bug that appeard in Cubase4 and was not fixed until Cubase6.

Anyway, I'm curious how things will evolve.

[FONT=&amp]Christian is correct, this will be a nice add-on to allow persons that have never used a DAWto become acquainted with DAW technology and I can see where for live recordings this gives an editable solution that "comes with" the hardware. The problem is the way it was presented it feels like Behringer is doing something extra here for their users but when you get down to it, audio interfaces have always shipped with some form of multi-track DAW software. The X32 is the first audio interface I have ever bought that did not have a DAW with it. Since 1995, I have never bought even a 2 input recording interface that did not come with at least an "LE" edition of some type of recording/editing software.[/FONT] My Oynx Blackjack came with Tracktion 3. Free.

Uli, Based upon the above quote, I feel as if you underestimate the level of the recording studio users who are actually sticking their professional necks out to use your products now. We do already have our DAW of choice as Christian said.

Behringer took a giant leap forward with the X32 family so far in both quality and reputation. With that leap, you now have the attention (and some $$$) of professionals that in the past would have ignored your products based on name alone. I have already sung the "new Behringer" praises and altered the opinion of an engineer that has co-designed equipment with Rupert Neve. Because he is a close friend he basically humored me to even look at the X32, and now is actually "surprised" and "impressed".

Do you really understand how big this is?

You will need to understand that "incredible" needs to be reserved for things like the initial unveiling of X32 itself or things that will actually improve your product and make it more productive for us. Two way automation would qualify as incredible, firmware version 2.0 with more recording specific features would be incredible. [/FONT]I feel almost patronized by the hyperbole and false expectation of something truly "incredible", only to find it was only the inclusion of something the X32 was missing in the form of an obscure mostly failed piece of software.

Since I have owned my X32 since December, I can get it for 1/2 price.

Something that to Joe Consumer is a legitimate move of goodwill by Behringer but light years from incredible to a person that is already a "studio user"?

Maybe going forward into the future Tracktion and Behringer will partner to build the worlds finest DAW and topple Avid, Steinberg, and Roland all three, but at the point it is now, it is like saying it is "incredible" that your new car you just bought now comes with air already in the tires, and if you bought it a few months ago before we were including air, we'll air those tires up for 1/2 price...

You have our attention and claim you want to be a player in our market, if that is true, please don't treat us like we are housewives watching a "ShamWow" commercial.

Wonder if there are opportunities to add a group in which it will be possible to add gruop of faders. this in order to choose to use one of the fader as the master fader
so it will be possible to take down the whole mix 2 or 3 db when using x32 in the studio.

You could use a dca!and to take down the whole mix this could be a better option
However, linking ch faders in groups along with the dca facility would have its uses
.
( but if you are talking about the remote daw control - this is a different mattter)

i know i can use DCA, but in studio mode i like to have full control of my levels. I don`t like to use DCA when i peak the master output.

What is it you are actually trying to find a solution for? Is it that the sum of all the levels is too hot? In that case a dca across all channels is the perfect solution. Not that a hot sum is any problem as such with a floating point signal path, just turning down the master itself will work fine. The only problem you can not solve with a dca across all channels is inputs being too hot.

For live use, there may be a person at the desk mixing monitors while the iPad may be mixing the house. I sure would not want layers changing at the desk just because the FOH guy withe iPad selected something.

As Tim said it behaves as intended for the market, not as an additional display.

First let me say I am most likely the first to complain when there are faults, however I try to be the first to give credit where credit is due. The experience I had with my X32 issues and the ultimate resolution was nothing short of amazing. Please let me explain
I bought my X32 in December 2012 from Long & McQuade 10204 107 Ave Edmonton Alberta Canada. The guys there have always been excellent to deal with especially the manager, Greg , and the guys in the recording department. I had also been in contact about my intermittent phantom issues with the X32, such as name strips going dark, losing settings, track select buttons sticking and aux send buss cutting in and out . These were random and not easy to replicate on demand. I talked with Chase McNight in support in the USA on many occasions and he was always very kind, very patient and helpful regarding the issues I was having understanding the proper routeing for recording with the X32 on the PC . I mentioned also to him that I was having some phantom issues and we a greed to watch things for a while to see if the issues were just one time glitches. Turns out they were not. He transferred me to Edwin Barcenas at the Music Group Care team. Edwin was awesome and we agreed to send the X32 back for servicing. I thought it best to send it back through my dealer but did not wish to send it until the dealer had a loaner as my unit was still functional and I was in the middle of a few projects. Edwin had no problem with this. He took all my information plus my dealers information. I called my dealer and left Edwin's contact information with them. After about two weeks my dealer called and said my loaner was in. I took my X32 to them and when I got there , they said "Oh we might as well just give you the new X32 as it may take a while to get the other one back and it would be easier for you not having to disconnect everything again". Well you could have knocked me over with a feather ! I have never in my life experienced this level of customer service . I was always sold on Long & McQuade but Behringer has now totally sold me on their products .Their support turned out to be second to none. I now have my new X32 , (new fader caps two,surprise !), and things seem to be working much better . I finally got the PC remote to work too (there are a few glitches with the remote but I will sort them out. Makes me feel ashamed I complained about traction. Sorry, ULI , you truly are trying and succeeding in making an affordable ,game changing product while at the same time providing the best customer support I have ever seen. You really did get the important things right. , Brand new board almost 6 months after I bought the first one. Wow ! Thank you so much, Chase , Edwin, ULI at the Music Group. Thank you to Greg and his great staff at Long and McQuade 10204 107 St Edmonton Alberta Canada . I cannot recommend both of these companies enough. Recording made with X32

Here is a quick/dirty mix of the first project we have attempted with the X32 entirely. Obviously all vocals but everything was recorded in Sonar X2 through a Shure KSM32 using the pres on the X32. All effects and mixing were done by feeding back through the X32. Sonar was used as a "tape machine" and for editing only. Total track count, 26.

I am quite impressed and happy with the pres, overall sound and effects of this board. I can't wait to test with some true large diaphragm condensers. (If only the guy I loaned them to will bring them back...)

UPDATE FYI. My new X32 is still working great . but I got a bit scared when I noticed a matrix fader (7 ) I believe is dark on the black on the name strip and no parts are functional. fader, mute , solo .. I called support in the USA and they quickly answered the the phone and put my mind at ease informing me that that particular fader was not yet assigned by firmware to anything . This was a great relief. So if anyone else runs into this issue, relax its normal. What great friendly, helpful service! Thanks guys at Berhinger support, I would be very nervous if I was a competitor of these guys. customer service is amazing!!!! Uli should be called the BRAIN as well as the EAR for a nickname!! remarkable Thank you!!!!!:D~:-D~:grin::D~:-D~:grin:

Don't think it will ever be possible. From what I gather it is due to the chip that does the matrix input switching doing switching in blocks of 8. This is a hardware issue rather than a software issue and the only way it could be changed would be to replace the chip that does the matrix switching.
 
Anyone using WDM drivers?

I am currently using the ASIO drivers via USB as I have yet to find a firewire card that plays nice in my system. I would like to know how well the WDM is working and if they play nice with other interfaces.
