Since we dont do AUX fed subs, I use the Mono Bus as an "extra" bus to feed my matrix. I send all my vocals to it and then to the matrix for recording purposes.

Any passive DI that cheap is going to have a crappy transformer in it which means low frequency rolloff, saturation, and distortion with hotter sources. Avoid them. When it comes to passive DIs, spend the extra money for something decent. With active you can often get away with the cheapies, but not always. Generally speaking, you usually want to use an active DI with any guitar/bass setup with passive pickups to present minimal loading to the pickup in order to maintain frequency response and minimal distortion. With piezo pickups and no preamp, you want really high input impedances, usually >2 megohms.

When is firmware 2 going to be released... ??? At least can somebody give a time frame, not necessarily a due date ??? In about 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years ???? anyone ???

Monitor out whine
So I have just had a fantastic 3 days using the X32 for FOH and monitors at the Rochester Sweeps festival, such a dream to use. But hey, my monitor outs have the whine! Hadn't noticed before and it was only when the monitor out was fully up. Now to be fair with the monitor out at that level if I had solo'ed a channel I would have blown my head off, we are talking about seriously loud, but with nothing through the monitors you could hear a very low level whine. With the monitor out set to a sensible listening level the whine was no longer audible so actually not a problem in practice

Seeing the smaart integration on studiolive is a great first step to getting more tools in the box with less gear to drag out, I would hope Behringer can take the Smaart concept that appears in studio live presonus and exceed what they have started on doing. Ideally this will be in new firmware that comes out. Seeing what they set out to include in video linked below is really the beginning of what is possible, I am assuming this is legit transfer functions being done in the background or rational would not have licensed their name out?

I'll step up and go for the DI-100, (the new one, that uses lead free solder; the old ones had a nasty habit of the phantom power failing (permanently). I like the sound, loads acoustic pickups well (little tone change), handy dual pads, nice battery option and +48 led. It really reminds me a bit of the BSS active DI...

Just for fun - Also try to set the lamp to 100% to see if it helps...
I read somewhere that the whine could come from the lcd. It's slightly muddy in the low end when using i.e. 5-string bass so for recording my radial or reddi comes to the rescue. But for live use I can't hear the difference between the di-100 and the j48.

I'm based in London uk, and I've had my x32 for about 2 months, yesterday I fired it up and found that the bus send 1-4 select button and the shelving EQ button are both sticky. Exactly the same symptoms as described here.
The problem is I kind of put all my eggs in one basket and got rid of my analogue set up. The desk is in a venue where it's in use 3-4 days a week, so I can't really afford to pull it and lose it for days. Hiring an equivalent as a temp replacement will be expensive so I'm kind of resigned to just putting up with it. It's really taken the gloss off of what I believe is an excellent product for me. I'd be prepared to take it to Kidderminster if it could be turned around or swapped out. (The desk is only 2 month old).

This is a special day for me. One year ago, I posted my first impressions about mixing with the X32 console on an open air event on “father’s day”. Some might remember.
Well, yesterday was “father’s day” and I mixed the same band again at the same venue. I think, it is fair to say, that we all can celebrate an “X32 jubilee”
I did lots of X32 shows and even I can’t remember all of them, I never had a show stopping event. Instead the X32 experience was really positive across the board for me.
Not only that the X32 offers an excellent bang for the buck, also the teamwork of the Behringer R&D and the members of this forum is outstanding for me! All lot of smart ideas
and feature requests were born here and lots of them were implemented by the R&D guys.

I think, it is absolutely phenomenal, what the X32 has become within a year!
And it seems, that the X32 is family is still evolving strong and has a strong impact to the whole mixing scene. This father’s day event seems to prove that.
The second band was mixed with a Yamaha 01V96 last year. Yesterday their soundguy showed up with an own X32. Go figure!
I was on bumming tour again and could you use the X32 Rack for this event. I mixed the whole day with XiControl and iPad. In addition, I used SAC as a VST host
and I used Drumagog for the kick drum (mixed with the original kick drum mic). I inserted SAC by using the AUX inuts. Really nice – helped me a lot.
Sure, there is still room left for improvements and I bet we will see some cool stuf with the upcomming V2 firmware at the end of this year.
In the last weeks I had some really cool shows with professional bands, like "Dubioaza Kolektiv" from Bosnia.

There are a major act in their country,
and they where on their way from Munich to Amsterdam and had normally a day off, so we could book them to play a show in our hometown. Their soundguys was nothing but awesome.
He never mixed on an X32 before and I showed him the basics within 5 minutes and he was good to go. He mixed eight lines of monitors from foh. Impressive!
The next day I mixed Tony Spinner+ band in the same venue and did a USB recording straight out of the desk. Nothing beats good musicians

Problem solved, the desk is replaced by the reseller in the Netherlands. The new desk is very quiet
