X32 Discussion

re: X32 Discussion

Woohoo!! Just got my tracking number. Should be delivered to my house by COB Tuesday. Darn shame I won't be home until late Thursday night :-(. I'll try to put up some first impressions next weekend sometime. Looking forward to hearing other owners' opinions, once you've had a chance to play a bit.

re: X32 Discussion

I think Christian should receive the X32 Sprinter when its finished with the tour that still hasn't come to Chicago!

All kidding aside, I hope you get some free gear and Swag, maybe a consulting position with Behringer- and some day in the near future when Turbosound intellectual property gets put into the Behringer line of speakers you get to be on the demo jury again.

Thanks to Behringer and Christian for making this the most anticipated audio device in recent years!

Ah but is did come to Chicago. Here it is in my parking lot over a month ago.

re: X32 Discussion

re uk - very confusing. On Sunday Studio spares changed their deliver date to 8th august.Called them on Monday to verify date so I could arrange to go in to collect and date then changed (back) to 27th August and to cap it all the price went up!
NOW the date has changed to an unbelievable 12th of December!!!!!
After all the hype and expectations this is not doing Behringers attempt to change their reputation much good over here.

Im #3 on the preorder list with them and I ordered it when it was £1800 , they didnt contact me to tell me the price had changed (I also noticed it on there website) and Ive asked them twice by email about what the ETA is and the price change but I have had no reply.

So I just ordered the case bundle from THomann (works out cheaper then Studio Spares) and Im cancelling the pre order on monday.

re: X32 Discussion

I have a question for Christian or anyone else who has an X32 in use:

What options are there for recall safe when using scene snapshots? I'm assuming you can globally safe some parameters from recall, but are there selective recall options where a scene can be set to only recall certain parameters on certain channels (such as on a PM5D)? I'm looking at using the board in a live theatrical setting where this is super handy.

Hi Brendan,
the X32 distinguishes between channel and parameter safes. There are plenty of options-->

Thanks, Christian. Are these safe settings global for all scenes on the console, or can they be set to recall different safe configurations in each scene, for either parameters, channels, or both?

You are welcome. The safe settings are global for all scenes. But I missed one option page about the scenes itself-->

re: X32 Discussion

Cool. Thanks again.

I'm curious what the matrix in the left side of the shot your just posted is for?

Mostly I wish Behringer would put out a full manual for this so I could read it for myself. Ah well.

re: X32 Discussion

I agree, Christian has done great (far better than Behringer) and deserves some sort of reward .

I also find it strange that none of the UK suppliers have any of these yet !! I fullly agree with the first come first served principle mentioned earlier but I can believe that every supplier in the UK was late in placing orders.

I assume you meant that you "CAN'T believe that every supplier in the UK was late in placing orders."

I wonder if perhaps all the UK sellers get their Behringer kit from the same importer, and it's that importer that has screwed up?

re: X32 Discussion

Dear all,

Indeed we just released the iPad app which can now be downloaded for free from the app store. There is also a video on YouTube that demonstrates how easy the installation is.
All you need is a simple wireless router for US$ 50 and you're ready to go. Unlike with other systems, you don't need a separate computer and what is really cool is that you can connect up to 10 iPad's simultaneously. Over the coming months we will be adding exciting new features to the XiControl that will make it a state-of-the-art remote app.
Also, we will be releasing the PC Remote Software very soon.

Allow me to give you some additional information.

While we understand that there is frustration due to the limited availability of the console, we have simply difficulties to keep up with the demand. The orders are several magnitudes beyond anything we had imagined and planned.
We have been told that in some locations, retailers were sold out on the first day even though they had received large volumes of X32’s.
Equally, the P16 Personal Mixer is constantly backordered over a year since it was introduced. We can’t simply keep up with the demand.

You can be assured that we do everything possible to increase our capacity, however this will take some time as we will never compromise quality.

With the release of the X32, the P16 Personal Monitoring System and the remote control software, we are now focusing on the completion of the last piece which is the S16 Digital Snake. This product should be shipping from our factory by October and hence will be in stores by November. However, we expect massive shortages, too.

We understand that the manual is not up to your expectation and please accept my apologies. However this is a sheer matter of bandwidth and focus.
Our goal was always to have products in the market and subsequently provide more comprehensive documentation. We designed the X32 to be extremely user-friendly so you wouldn’t really need a manual.
In fact our beta testers didn’t receive any documentation and were immediately able to operate the console as Christian can confirm.
However, be assured we are working hard to deliver a stellar manual over time and constantly add information in line with the roll-out of new features and release 2.0 which we're already working on.

Allow me to mention that we are recruiting lots of people in multiple locations also to support the X32 system. Check out our open positions on www.music-group.com.

I like to take the opportunity to thank you for the feedback we have been able to gather here. Your questions and comments are extremely helpful and much of it will be included in the upcoming manual revisions.

Last but not least I am very excited to announce that the X32 is just the beginning of a series of new products that we will be releasing over the next months and years.
Over the past 5 years we have been heavily investing in a massive technology platform, the X32 is built on. This technology allows scalability in multiple directions and you will soon be seeing more exciting products, of which many will be complementing the X32, S16 and P16 system.

I can honestly say that this is the most exciting time since I started the Company in my living room 23 years ago.

My gratitude goes out to our 3,500 phenomenal employees and all of you who have supported us in all these years.

Thank you!

Warm regards

Uli

Uli,

We understand that demand has been HUGE. What does NOT make sense is that Thomann appear to have free stock available from their 10th September shipment, but that NO UK DEALERS have ANY idea of when they are going to be able to satisfy even the VERY FIRST of their PRE-ORDERS (Which in the case of DV247( Music Village) is ME - and I ordered mine on 11th March 2011 (yes, ELEVEN)

re: X32 Discussion

For the ipad app.

Could we consider the following?

- admin users and standard users. maybe this has to be managed from the mixer or just from the ipad? Standard users can have any combination of controls hidden or locked out by the admin user. The idea being that you could give an ipad to someone on stage and have them control stuff only relevant to them.

- Or maybe just a simple app which is like an extension of the "user definable" keys which you can seperatelly assign from each ipad to a selection of controls.

- the ability to connect midi controllers to the ipad via the camera connection kit.

- a real look at fader controls on an ipad. you can often have a situation where you put your finger on "fader cap" and it jumps a little bit which is really audible. I find relative fader moves on the ipad better to use. The whole fader length is touchable and the fader cap only marks the current level. You just move your finger up or down and the fader cap moves to show the level but you don't have to put your finger on the fader cap.

Yes , Uli NONE of the main UK suppliers I have contacted have seen ANY X32's. None , zip , zero. So its not them being sold out on the first day or filling pre-orders.

Maybe Uli can tell us how many were shipped to UK suppliers so far ?

Could be , but didnt Behringer not annouce that they changed there distribution network recently and now ship direct to the dealers bypassing the middle men ???

re: X32 Discussion

Got my new X32 on Friday (USA), and am spending time getting used to it. Really nice board, with a ton of features. Since I have limited digital experience, and this is the first digital board I have owned, I still have a few 'analog' habits and ways of doing things.

Some of the routing/assigning seems overly complicated, but that may be due to lack of familiarity. I think a full manual with more examples would be helpful. So far so good, despite taking a while to figure out how to do things. I'm very happy with the board so far, and while there is a learning curve involved, I can't wait to get it set up to be able to use live. Thanks again to Christian and the others for posting all the very helpful information. I hope he and others will continue to share their knowledge, and tips for the X32.

Behringer confirms UK distribution switch | Musical instrument industry news | MI Pro

I e-mailed Uli directly about the UK situation, and have a response from him and also from John Steven, their Customer Support Manager. Uli has specifically asked me to post the information on this forum:

"We understand your frustration, however allow me to clarify. We have two direct customers for the UK which are Electrovision and Digital Village. Electrovision is our distributor who serves all UK dealers and Digital Village is our direct account.
From our order book, both parties were relatively late in ordering the X32 and also ordered a relatively small amount of consoles. Digital Village ordered the consoles for July 2012 shipment while other customers placed orders way over a year ago and hence get supplied accordingly.
From what we can see, there a few consoles on the water for Digital Village but you would have to check with them when they will arrive exactly."

I have asked DV to comment.

re: X32 Discussion

I've been browsing this thread for a couple of months and again, have to thank all, especially Uli and Christian for their posts whic convinced me to pre-order the console. I'm UK based and like many are waiting for stock to come into Digital Village. I've spoken to a couple of retailers, all who don't really know when to expect stock but am hoping DV are going to come back with a confirmed date this week.
