Re: iPad app buggie

You are looking in the meters section.
I was looking in the Mtx-Main --> Detail --> DYN tab. And i'm talking about the bar right to the graphic. For me they don't work...
I use a ipad4 retina.

Meters in the detail --> Dyn tab don't work for me either, either on a 1st Gen iPad or an iPad Mini. The controls there work and compression kicks in, but no metering showing that it's active.

XiControl gradually slowing almost to a hault.

Had an interesting thing happen during the end of soundcheck for tonights show. I noticed my ipad 2 running XiControl 2.0 and latest firmware on the console, started gradually acting more and more sluggish. I figured at first the wireless was getting blocked by some walls, but moving the router more in the clear did not help. When I started, it was as peppy as normal. It eventually got so bad, the meters and faders would only update every 5 seconds or so.

After a quick reboot of the IPad, everything worked GREAT for the rest of the gig... lesson learned.

I was running the presonus app last week on a show, and maybe it left some stuff behind in memory? Who knows, most likely my kid had it plugged up with games or something.

The p16-m's work great! Used 'em tonight, and one of my pickiest clients said they sounded better than the roland m-48's he uses all the time at the church he works at. He did say that it might have been the beta58 he had on his vocal though... I'd like to do a more accurate comparison between them sometime.

The result of my work you can find here: XControl channel list generator

I did only input list generator. I'm going to add auxes to input list and make an output list. But I'll do it tomorrow. Next step will be adding PDF generator.

Hope it helps :)
Fine and dandy, except for the ad overlays that come up 4 out of 5 times when loading the site that make it impossible to get to the buttons. :-/

Re: iPad apps - XiControl

You must know, that this script is now pre-pre-pre-alpha. I uploaded as much as I done. I will improve functionality.
Love it! :D~:-D~

Thank you. Glad to hear it

The list I see is very good, also the notes will be very helpfull. But to get this on paper, my polish is not that good...
But I would like it even better to have an offline generator. Maybe also some way to send it to smartphones.

Sorry, but I don't know C++ nor Java. I couldn't make an offline editor. I'm just webmaster-amateur. I think behringer will soon take care of this project on their own.
To notes box: This is just empty cell which I prepared for "hand-made" notes.
If you have problem with printing - when you get generated table, press [CTRL]+[P] on your keyboard.

Sorry to hear that. I use free hosting, and the ads come from sever owner. I will look for another hosting without ads.

I'm still waiting for comments, requests, etc.

Greetings

EDIT:
+ Aux inputs now added to the list!
+ Ads removed

Re: Routing selected channels (only) to the firewire card

Definitely get that and would never do it on the old desks where there is a direct/line input, but since I can't hear a difference, I don't worry about it. Maybe once I get the studio finished and my ears miraculously rejuvenate :)~:)~

Meters and clipping

Hi,

This can be stupid question but...

If I playback something from USB to ex. aux 1&2 - clipping light is turned on at channel. But If I check channel(s) thru solo button I see that actually it's not clipping. Clip light at channel is brighting up somewhere at -3db

Why is this? I've always assumed that channel meter is telling me about clipping WHEN it's clipping.

Re: Meters and clipping

This has always been the normal way for analog consoles. This makes it possible that once in a while a overload led lits doesn't hurt/add distortion, so you don't have to adjust really.
If it stays on longer than you have to adjust.

It also had to do with attack times of the led, like a compressor, small peaks can get through without being noticed, by lowering the level it will be noticed earlier. In the past I have seen consoles with such a bad reaction to peaks, that I could hear the distortion before the led lit.

When you're always 3 dB from absoluut maximum, your gain structure isn't good for live mixing, theirs also no need for it. The S/N is far better than almost any analog setup, including rackmounted compressors, gates and effect processors.
As mentioned before it's common habbit to mix around -18dBFS on digital consoles, that's why the color of the bars change to orange at that point. It's just the analog 0dB.

This has been done in less then a day. 8)~~
I just printed it with the use of [CTRL]+[P], and I'm going to use this tomorrow.

Looking to the printout, you could leave the rows away who have internal input, like FX or BUS.
More important the outputs should also be added.

I also assume behringer will going to implement this very simple but great feature. So I hope they read all our findings and remarks, so they can make a good one in one try.

I have always been collecting patchlists from bands, adjust them (if more bands played the same night) and give them back, tape them on stageblocks etc.

A next step would be, that a extra tab or even a separate app is made just for the crew on stage. That way, last minute changes can be communicated without hassle. They only have to log in on the X32 wifi net, look at their iphone, and plug the cable into the right connector.

Re: Meters and clipping

Yeah, I know this as been like that for analog consoles, but most of the time analog console overload/clipping light would flash for warning. This light is burning like 1/2 secs when you go to that area. So I assumed it's telling me "IT'S CLIPPING, GOD DAMNED DO SOMETHING" :D - If it would be nice to otherwise tell me that it's not actually clipping. It would be more like "Did you noticed that..."

I agree that kind of gain structure wouln't be good for live mixing - this was just example and stuff I was playing from computer was some commercial mp3 with trim at 0.

I just added output list generator. It list local jacks only (out 1-16, aux 1-6, AES-EBU). Now I'm working on CARD and AES-50 A/B outs.

Man, you are fast. 8O~8-O~:shock::evil:
So I reprinted it again, and yes more complete.
Now the FX and USB could be removed if easy to filter them out.

Link of input channels

I have linked inputs with a stereo signal (music playback)
I have made subgroups
My subgroups busses are linked also.
When I play music the left signal goes to the odd, and right signal goes to the even outputs, as I want them. :)~:)~

But now I have a case that I want to balance the sound from left to right. (For example car passing bij)
There is no way of using the PAN/BAL for this.
So I tried to unlink the input channels, so I can adjust the left and right fader separate, and that works, also to the subgroups. That surprised me, because I was affraid that they would become mono after the unlink.

Now is this for me the perfect solution, but I can imagine some situation that this isn't what you want. Of course you can put the PAN / BAL back to the center... Thinking about it, it's exactly the same as with an analog desk. :)~:)~

Loose scribble

Here's video about my master block and scribble moving when pressing mute -button: moving scribble - YouTube - can be seen best at 0.25 ->

Is anyone else experiencing this? Other channels won't do this at all. Is this fault or common structure of X32?

Great job, Mateusz! Thanks so much for putting that together. By the way, your English and spelling is very good! I always admire anyone who learns another language.

Mine doesn't have that problem, but it will depend on the amount of force you apply also...

Thank you very much. I really appreciate that.

I'd like to tell it to everybody. My project is ready! PDF generating is implemented. Uff... That was really big challenge for me. I'm glad, that everything is working (I hope so... If not, comment it).

Re: Not receiving the Thread Daily email

Thanks Behringer! The new iPad app is truly awesome. The ability to "touch" and drag your EQ points and adjust Q with pinch is just great!
