X32 Discussion

Re: iPad app buggie

You are looking in the meters section.
I was looking in the Mtx-Main --> Detail --> DYN tab. And i'm talking about the bar right to the graphic. For me they don't work...
I use a ipad4 retina.
Confirmed in my end as well.

Given the confusion - Whenever a bug is encountered it is beneficial to list the steps to recreate the issue and also perhaps include a screenshot.

Re: Not receiving the Thread Daily email

Thanks Behringer! The new iPad app is truly awesome. The ability to "touch" and drag your EQ points and adjust Q with pinch is just great!

It would really be great if the 4 or 6 EQ points were always up on the graph and you could just grab and drag without having to engage each band.

X32 Firmware 2.0

So, while we wait for the new firmware to be released sometime during NAMM, apart from the inclusion of the RTA (my #1 want) and the locked/default scenes, what else are people hoping for?

Re: X32 Firmware 2.0

A way improved De-esser cause the one thats in it dosn't work worth a darn....
I've only tried with my own voice but it did a nice job removing thoose 'esses.

It seems based upon one of the SPL dual-band de-essers. Check out In Short: Sound Performance Lab for more info.

Low S-ReductionUse the LOW S-REDUCTION control to adjust the intensity of the sibilance reduction in the lower frequency range. The center frequency for sibilance recognition is set at 7.6kHz in FEMALE mode and 6.4kHz in MALE mode. For more information, please refer to section “MALE/FEMALE“ below. The bandwidth of the low-band de-esser is 1.44 kHz.
Scale values for the filter are displayed in dB. The actual reduction values, i.e. after phase cancellation, are displayed in the lower SR LEDs. Thus, when the control is set to 3 dB, actual reduction might only be of around 1 dB.
The SR LEDs display sibilance reduction between -1 dB and -14 dB, first in 1 dB increments and from 6 dB on in 2 dB increments.
In practice, for most applications, the best results are usually achieved when LOW S-REDUCTION is set between 3 and 7.
High S-Reduction
Use the HIGH S-REDUCTION control to adjust the intensity of the sibilance reduction in the upper frequency range.
The center frequency for sibilance recognition is set at 11.2 kHz with a 3 kHz bandwidth.
Scale values for the filter are displayed in dB. The actual reduction values, i.e. after phase cancellation, are displayed in the upper SR LEDs. Thus, when the control is set to 3 dB, actual reduction might only be of around 1 dB.
The SR LEDs display sibilance reduction between -1 dB and -14 dB, first in 1 dB increments and from 6 dB on in 2 dB increments.
Please note that the MALE/FEMALE button has no effect on the high-band de-esser.
In practice, for most applications, the best results are usually achieved when HIGH S-REDUCTION is set between 3 and 7.
Male/Female
The MALE/FEMALE button allows you to adjust the low-band de-esser to the type of voice being processed. When engaged, the mode selected for the low-band de-esser is FEMALE, otherwise the de-esser works in MALE mode. The mode selected affects the center frequency for sibilance recognition: in FEMALE mode it is set at 7.6 kHz, while in MALE mode it is set at 6.4 kHz.
These values have been determined by practical experience, so that the processor adapts better to gender. Nevertheless, you cannot take for granted that these settings will suit every single male and female voice. Consider the MALE/FEMALE function as an additional tool to help you set the low-band de-esser more precisely according to your needs. Always trust your ears to find the best settings.

Re: X32 Firmware 2.0

Again, it needs an auto threshold feature. There is not enough adjustment to get enough deessing the way it is. I would rather have it way Over the top than the way it is.

Agreed and a para EQ on the low de-ess so you can ajust the freg that your want to de-ess and more gain reducion i rather have a alot then not enough.

XiQ password lock work around

If you are using iOS devices on version 6 you can put any app into Guided Access mode. This will lock you into whatever app you in. It also lets you draw boxes on areas that you don't want people to access.

To use this for setting up a password protected monitor controller.
First go to Settings, select General and scroll down to Accessibility. Select Guided Access and then start XiQ, select the Mix Bus you want to control, then triple tap the home button. Draw a box around the gear icon and then enable Guided Access.

Now there won't be any problem with anyone accessing other mix busses. Of course you will also need to be the owner of the device.

An ability to play & record FLAC or similar high quality compressed files via the "cassette recorder".
A coffee spigot.

FLAC would be good. Lossless compression would give us WAV quality with at least 80% longer recording times, and it is an open standard so TMG don't have to worry about paying royalties.

Re: Loose scribble

Here's video about my master block and scribble moving when pressing mute -button: moving scribble - YouTube - can be seen best at 0.25 ->

Is anyone else experiencing this? Other channels won't do this at all. Is this fault or common structure of X32?

Hi Jere,

Sorry to see you are having an issue with your X32. I will PM you and we can discuss this further.

Re: X32 Firmware 2.0

Dear all,

IPad app version 2.0.1 has just been uploaded on the app store waiting Apple's approval. Many of the reported bugs have already been fixed.

Just to manage expectations, we never promised a 2.0 for Namm but possibly for later this year. Please make sure you share your feature requests on our Behringer forum.

The countdown for the Namm show has started and we are looking forward to seeing you there.

Warm regards

Uli

Re: iPad apps - XiControl

Hello Mateusz,

I have a problem while loading your last software version. Maybe you can check if it's a problem on your side. I'm looking forward to try your little tool. Thanks for all.

XiQ app

Hi,

Maybe I am missing something here...
I would almost always use this app with IEMs (stereo In Ear Monitors)
But Is it possible to just select a stereo MIX bus?? (e.g 1&2 in a stereo pair for example)??
Of course in this case we should need also a PAN and not just only a level fader!
I fully agree with some previous post, that MAster Fader for the MIX BUSSES would be great,
and also level meter, to avoid OL on the busses...

What do you think?

Cheers,

Tamas

Re: X32 Firmware 2.0

So, while we wait for the new firmware to be released sometime during NAMM, apart from the inclusion of the RTA (my #1 want) and the locked/default scenes, what else are people hoping for?

- DeEsser rather on every channel (as dynamic EQ for example) in the Expander "slot" as on the channels where you would use
DeEsser or Dyn EQ you almost never use Expander/Gate. so the double dynamics on all channels would be a real win!

- Using the 3 stereo Matrixes as MIX (getting signal directly from Input channels) would be great!! (22 mix busses)
or at least the ability to use then these 6 extra Mix Busses to feed the signal to the FX processors, as in case of IEM mixing
every MIX bus is needed - so there will be no MIX busses available to FX sends...
This would then allow us to use 6 FX sends AND 8 Stereo IEM MIXes

- HPF on the inputs: max. corner Frequency up to at least 1kHz would be great!!

- Possibility to freely patch Input also to AUX input 7-8 If you dont want to use USB playback

- Processing on Effects returns (at least EQ & exp/gate)
