X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Discussion

Hi guys,

Quick noob question as I do not have the desk available at the second to check - the usb/firewire interface was DOA so it all had to go back :(

The question - do the DCA's effect post fader sends to busses or just the send to mains.

Cheers
Tim

Well the DCA can be set to control both inputs and mixbusses. In either case the DCA simply acts as the fader control for that specific channel or group of channels. So for inputs it would change the signal to mains (and subgroups if you have them routed this way).

Re: X32-Mix Update

I got my analog output delay adjustment. :D~:-D~:D~:-D~:D~:-D~

I think I have to get a wireless in ear, now that I'm able to solo on the ipad. I assume the monitor output can't be streamed to the ipad?

For the next version, maybe it's possible to have the selected solo visible in the overview, like the mute does know. (handy when no exclusive last is enabled) maybe a yellow mixcolor when mute is also selected...

This update is really extraordinary!

There's a counter on the Recorder! Two, even. Played and remaining? They are unlabeled.

It really seems like ALL console functions are now available on the iPad, which means that a Core or Rack with a couple of S16's, an Airport or similar, and one or more iPads is a complete console, either backup or standalone. My order is already in...

Also, the graphics and feature integration in the app appear natural and unforced; really a nice job of designing, whoever does that. Uli, if you read this, please pass on to the appropriate people how impressive this update is.

It appeared that I was the first one to rate it (5 stars!). How about if appreciative people go to the App Store and show their appreciation for this marvelous free product?

(Yes, we are still at 100 scenes, but there are apparently ways around that...)

And I like Antoon's idea for solo ID'ing.

To clarify Jared's comment, a DCA should affect every send on a channel that is post-fader (including subgroups) and not affect any sends that are prefader. It is not a global channel mute.

And to elaborate, it should not affect any channels at the channel level, whether sends are set pre or post, when the DCA is set to control a bus master that those channels are assigned to. To do so, the DCA needs to be set directly to those channels in addition to whatever else it is set to control.

HTH.

Re: Plug insert

Hm...maybe think twice about the C6.
The C6 ads 64 Sampes of latency ( Plugin Latency | Support | Waves ) + the latency of the soundcard+LiveProfessor + the latency of the Aux insert on the X32 (0,8ms).
This might be too much in some applications...a digital speaker controller will also ad some latency to the overall pa system.
Thanks for the answers, now I know how....

Re: X32 almost "out of box failure"

Ya I wish it was that simple... It's not like its seeing no power, it's not booting. He said it "blips" on power up, but does not show x32 screen... He's seen mine... He knows what it's supposed to look like. I've already had two people from behringer reach out, and that's great considering its " off business hours". Unfortunately unlike myself, he doesn't have the luxury of a backup desk... This would be his primary desk(ya he still has his old analog mackie32 and rack) but the whole point is not having to carry it around. Nope I think at this point we'll be thinking refund and a different option...
Well just to further this along, Chase Mckinght called me out of the blue cause he was concerned that this was being addressed. I had told him that the retailer was secureing a new console for my dad and that things were progressing. I thanked Chase for the excellent service and follow up that the customer service group provided for me in the past etc, and that I hope he didn't take my old frustration and my dads new frustration to heart. At any rate I picked up the phone and called my dad to see where he stood and basically of the two new consoles the retailer had gotten in, he gave my dad the other one as replacement, and he was playing with it that moment. So all is well (working) and he is worming his way through the new land of digital consoles. The best news is hell be of more use for me on my shows once he is comfortable with the format ( which is claims to quickly getting a handle on). Anyways thanks to the behringer group for reaching out and taking odd jab from the user pool, I would not want your job for all the tea in china.

Re: Plug insert

Thanks for the answers, now I know how....

:) Ok, let me try again. Afik there is no direct way to grab the Main outs and send them over the XUF card into LiveProfessor. @ALL: Please correct me, if I'm wrong. But I never tried that anyway, cause of the overall latency of the XUF card. It is really difficult, to get an RTL time below 10ms for the roundtrip (That's why the comment on the C6), but if you do have an low latency soundcard (like the RME Multiface, which runs with 32samples), you can hook up the soundcard to Aux1&2, route the mains the Aux out 1&2 send them to LiveProfessor, do "your thing", and send the LiveProfessor outs back to AUX in 1&2. Then use AUX1&2 as digital insert on the X32 mains.

Like I said, it would be better to use a VST plugin, that has no latency on its own. There are some multiband compressors out there, working in real time. Some of them are even freeware like these-->

Re: Plug insert

Dear Phi,
You can route the Main Mix to your computer a few different ways. One is to use the "Out 1-8" or "Out 9-16" options for a bank of card outputs on the "card out" page of the ROUTING menu. These options correspond to the assignments on the "analog out" page. So if you assign the Main L and Main R signals to analog outputs 1 and 2 and assign "Out 1-8" on the first bank of card outputs, your main mix would appear on the first two inputs of your DAW.
The same is true if you choose the "P16 1-8" or "P16 9-16" options on the "card out" page and assign the Mains via the "P16 Out" page.
Finally, you could choose the Aux 1-6/Mon option and route the mains on the "aux out" page.
Hope it helps!

Re: X32 Noisy Cooling Fan

search for Sennheiser IEM Noise on the A&H homepage in the FAQ section,
there is a known issue on G1/G2 models,
basically you need to make an XLR cable with 47nF soldered from Pin1 to Pin2 and Pin 1 to Pin 3

hope this helps

Uwe

Yes it helps BUT i have then other problems. I put a simple di-box between X32 and IEM and then it works great. :D~:-D~

Re: Jumpy faders

This may have been covered already, but has anyone else experienced jumpy faders while using the Edit app with a trackpad on a laptop?

Yes! In fact, most of the draggable controls jump about (e.g. the EQ curve). I'm wondering if it's a multi-touch problem (I was using a 2011 MacBook Air 11).

I took that computer home, stole my son's iPad 1, put the latest X32-Mix on it, and it's SO much nicer to use.

It also doesn't suffer from the 2-minute wait to sync up when first connected (although there is a slight lag on switching pages, which is perhaps where it does the updates on-demand, unless it's just slow on an iPad 1).

Edit: This was using a dedicated "G" WiFi network with nothing else on it, laptop 20' from router, no other strong WiFi nearby, and the X32 and another laptop (doing OSC control, but idle at the time) connected by Ethernet.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's a multitouch problem too. It works fine on my iMac with a mouse, but on the MacBook Pro, it gets jumpy.

Re: X32-Mix Update

Does anyone know if this is possible? And if so is it going to happen? That would be absolutely awesome.

Before anybody jumps in that it will cost latency, that's no problem for me. I was very happy that I could add delay to the monitor signal, so the headphone signal can be aligned with the direct sound from the pa.

However it would be handy if this latency can be of a more fixed time...

Re: Release !

App bug found....... in the Effects section, you can pick your fx from the EFFECTS tab, but when you pick from PRESETS and say LOAD, it doesn't even when you answer Yes to the are you sure question. Hope this gets fixed.

Hi John,

sorry for grabbing this quote.

I have a set-up with two s16's and would like to stap an external EQ across the main mix L & R - I am fine routing the main L and R out to the EQ ( using aux outs -) but the problem is the return insert on the Main LR Bus as there is only one insert point - so for example if the returns from the EQ is on aux ins 1 & 2 I can only insert one of the aux's in the Main LR signal path - what is the best method/options to get round this - do I need for example to route the Main LR for all channels via a subgroup and do the insert here?

Many thanks

Nick
