DIY Mid High Group Buy

Re: DIY Mid High Group Buy

My hope is to start the process on this order very soon so awaiting any more replies before I get the process rolling. Many thanks...

I am in for 2 4594he-16 if we can hit the discount quantity. Otherwise I will likely just order them direct.

I also would like to pick up a pair of 4550s in the same order if you aren't opposed to that, it might put us the the quantity break point too.

You are at A discount, so best bet is to get them through this group buy.
Also, to me, the quantity discount applies to mixed models, not just the 4594HE.

Re: DIY Mid High Group Buy

Jason Allen - 2 | 4594he-16
Jason Joseph - 8 | 4594he-16 + COs

Spenser Hamilton - 2 | 4550

You can order any model and have it apply to this buy.. Thanks for the updated information Jack..

Worst case price (if we hit at least 12 drivers) is $667.25+shipping.
Best case price (if we hit at least 18 drivers) is $549.50+shipping.

If you are certain about your order that would put us into the best case pricing please confirm and let me know...

What currency are we talking here, and how does the payment & shipping work? (Can they be shipped directly to New Zealand?).

* I'm seriously considering a pair of BMS 4594HE-8 & a pair of the 8ohm passive x-overs.

Also a pair of RCF HF950 horns if a group buy ever eventuates for them.

Cheers, Boyd

Us currency shipping to USA.. For New Zealand it would probably be better to contact Jack Arnott directly..

Thanks,

I frequently use a freight forwarding company from US to NZ, so that's not necessarily a problem. What is the payment arrangement, lead time, and where in the US are they being delivered? The group buy price is what would make this economical for me - I'm guessing Jack Arnott would not be able to match this price on two units (though please correct me if I'm wrong!).

When is this group buy order likely to be placed?

Im ready to go anytime, they will be delivered to me in NY checked and shipped back out to their respective destinations. Zip code is 11236 you can always check out shipping costs yourself. Once I am satisfied that we have the proper amount of valid paying orders then I will proceed further and finalize everything within this post..

The best way to do this, in my mind, is for Jason to ship to your freight forwarding company.

When the order is placed, there will be about a one month lead time, three weeks for manufacturing, one for delivery.
This is not a hard time line, but depends on what else is in the que, and other factors. (EG, Pro Light and Sound is coming up soon, and always seems to put a dent in things, even though it is the office that goes to the show, not (all of) the factory.) Even shipping can vary. My last order sat on the ground in France for ten days before it finally got over the pond.

Also, to all of you, remember that my fee is hard/fixed, but that Jason will have soft costs on top of that. Shipping materials, paypal fees, if you pay him that way, printing, even wire transfer, if he pays me that way. So make sure to pay for all of that, not just the shipping cost from him to you.

Regards, Jack

Re: DIY Mid High Group Buy

I am wondering if getting a quote from a company like QMS is appropriate?
Are the plans polished enough for this? Does this violate the spirit of the DIY?

Given the precision woodworking required to build this cabinet well, a flat pack kit would probably get a lot of traction. I haven't committed to a build due to lack of tools and shop space. A kit build, however, makes the project much more feasible.

Cheers,

I would defer to Peter on this direction, its his design.

The plans would need to be refined to a final version that would include a decision on what type of grill would be used. On my drawings I have intentional left that detail out so the builder could customize the grill to their liking.

A commercial wood shop may have suggestions on how to make the cabinet easier to cut and assemble.

In the event a commercially produced kit version where to become a reality, then it may be possible to develop some standard DSP settings for it. An affordable kit could put this high quality speaker into the hands of a lot people that couldn't afford something comparable from a big name manufacturer IMO and that'd be pretty cool.

I have never produced shop quality drawings for a cabinet type product but would gladly assist however I am able.
