X32 Discussion

re: X32 Discussion

I saw the in stock and managed to order 2 units at 2am (uk time). I'll let you all know if the info was accurate or an automatic update that was corrected

re: X32 Discussion

Pondering a bit, would there potentially be anything to gain from modifying the inputs to a lower impedance?
I'm quite certain that the noise from a long cable will decrease, but does the currently high impedance affect the frequency response and phase response of modern microphones?

re: X32 Discussion

FR: I know that dca's aren't mix-buses but it would be very nice if the meters above the dca-faders would show the signal level for the dca's. Now they just sit unused...

I agree with Robert regarding the DCA metering. I'm running a show at moment with 20 wireless lavalier mics. 1-20 patched. Using 4 DCAs patched respectively to channels 17-20 saves having to flip to 17-32 for any sudden individual channel adjustment. Having the meters replicating DCA group levels would just give a quick indication everything was fine and does seem a waste to sit there doing nothing!

re: X32 Discussion

Too good to be true, a Stock level error. They say not expected till mid December. Does anyone have demo units or hire stock s16's I have a show in the uk late November/ early December and could do with 2 units, or I'll have to hire in a long multi

You could hire a Midas DL251, but I guess nobody hires them out for peanuts

Hello all, I am new on this forum, I bought this console and made the last update, I have a question concerning a bug, when I back up a scene by selecting all the parameters and when I load after a reset nothing occurs? On the other hand if I select only configuration and save then consoles load all parameters !!!???

Thank you for your help,

Denis,

this is a matter of one letter :)~:-)~
the parameters are scene safes not scene saves, which means if you tick the boxes, these parameters will be ignored, when you load the scene.

Hope that helps

Hello from Finland

At my first gig only one day after receiving the desk ( with no detailled user-manual...) I had the same issue.

English has words - SAFE + SAVE - which made me to carefully tick all possible squares with X so to make sure nothing was changed........

That function is good, if you delibarately do NOT want to change some settings , whwn storing new band etc...

re: X32 Discussion

Got a problem where I am using AUX 5&6 (iPod) inputs routed to channel 13&14 but I cannot see any input in Pro Tools or Presonus Capture for recording, all other channels are fine as long as I am using the XLR's.

Is it not possible to capture the AUX inputs even though they are routed and working fine "live"?

Thanks
Craig

They should be there if you route correctly to the card, in other words, you need to route Aux1-6/Mon to the card. Looking at channel 13&14, what you see is the preamp inputs, and they don't have a signal. Routing aux/mon to card 9-16, 17-24 or 25-32 should give you a recording signal on 13-14, 21-22 or 29-30. You need to route to the card in blocks, so use the first block that don't have any live channels on it.

FR: Please allow the WDM-channels to be mapped freely in the driver. Today it's hardlocked to card1-8.

Also, please allow for the driver to disable WDM to avoid performance issues/clashes due to windows audio interfering

re: X32 Discussion

hey,

today i mixed an album release show and everything went quite well, except for one thing: for some reason the main vocal was not audible on the PA for two times, when i moved the fader a little bit the signal was back on the PA. the setup was channel via DCA and vocalgroup. Xcontrol running on a macbook. it seemed to me that the problem occured, when i was in "sends on fader" mode before and the faders jumped back to the original value. anyone ever had this problem? could it be because of Xcontrol running OSX?

got contacted by behringer support:

concerning your problem:
we could reconstruct your issue and will fix it with the next firmware update. to avoid the problem until then you simply have to wait ~1/2 a second before moving a fader when switching banks or sends on fader.

cheers,
flo

re: X32 Discussion

Hello everybody!! This is my first post here. I have been working on reading every last post in this thread as it has been an awesome source of opinion
and knowledge about this ground breaking product.

I purchased my X32 on 08/18. So it was one of the first ones to arrive at a local music store I work at. We have sold 8 more so far, (mostly on my
recommendation of the product) and just can't keep them in stock. It seems no one can. I was never fully drawn to the SL boards. Not sure what it is,
they sound good but the workflow is horrible IMO. The X32 is great, I really connect with the format and workflow. I don't hear this complaint much, and
I don't want to get into brand-bashing at length, BUT, on the SL boards if you want to have a separate control for the your FX in the mains VS. mons,
you have to assign them to a subgroup. Otherwise manipulating the FX level knob will control both mains and mons. Totally lame. (And I know you could
go in an lower/raise the FX send to the mon, but that's ridiculous to have play balancing act like that.)

So far I have absolutely loved the X32. I have taken it on six gigs, and they all sounded great. I have tried the multitrack recording, as well as the Ipad
app and it all worked flawlessly. I'm very impressed with the recording sound so far, they have great dynamic range and a very musical tone to them.
I was able to go FiWi direct with my partners Macbook Pro into Logic. I am a die-hard Pro Tools user. I refuse to use anything else. I am using an
2007 Macbook Pro running 10.5 Leopard, with Pro Tools 8 LE, running a 003 rack and a Behringer ADA8000. The only thing that stinks is I cannot
use the X32 direct to LE because of it's hardware restrictions. As soon as this Mac dies, and I buy a new one with Pro Tools 10 that issue will be solved.
Until then I have done 16 track recording by running the Channels 1-6 direct out of Aux 1-6, then using XLR outs as direct outs for Channels 7-16.
I leave my XLR out 1-6 to connect to a snake and run Mains L,R, and Mons 1-4. It works like a charm but is a lot to plug in, haha. :)~:-)~

Ok so now onto a few minor issues I do have with the board. First off, as others have mentioned, the headphone volume is super low. I've considered
getting a small headphone amp to use with it but find that ridiculous. I know it's something that cannot be fixed with a firmware update (as far as I know),
so I've accepted it and learned to deal with it...

Ok so at this point I had written about ten more paragraphs of text, finished, then went to preview post and submit, but it said I wasn't logged in and I lost
the rest of it. My hands hurt now from typing so I can't remember/retype it all. This sucks because I wrote A LOT of text about it. What's above was all
that got reloaded. I will have to paraphrase the important part of what I wrote.

I also get digital noise from channels 16 and 32, I only hear it if I crank the gains. It doesnt seem noticeable in my recordings. I live in Boston, Mass.
and am wondering if it's worth shipping to vegas to be repaired. I don't really want to go without it for a while as i use it a lot.

thanks everyone for your posts. if I can find the time to retype the book I had wrote I will. I'm really bummed out that just happened.

Chris

I think it can actually be fixed with a firmware update, because when you crank the board up to near 0dB the output is plenty loud. A digital trim/gain before the headphone out (maybe with a limiter, I would like that) can probably be implemented.

That was corrected in a firmware update a while back. You may not have received the memo.

You can now have a separate FX level for the monitors (Aux outs).

Update the SL's firmware ... there are other goodies as well.

re: X32 Discussion

I'm trying to use the X32 Card with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and Cakewalk Sonar Producer.

I've installed the Behringer USB Driver.

Installed XControl That runs well and syncs to the console.

Sonar show the XUF driver as an audio option.

However it seems to default to only MME driver option inside Sonar. Changing it to WDM or ASIO disables the XUF audio.

Route the USB X-UF Card to Aux 1-4 Input

Getting crackling noise over the audio.

Nothing seems to get rid of that.

I'm thinking about turning to the Firewire option instead.

Any recommended Firewire cards? And what type of firewire cable is required? 4 pin 6 pin etc?
