Re: S16 and P16 issue

Hello,

So last week we got our S16's in and this past Sunday was our first time using the full system. We have found an interesting "problem" in that the P16's connected to the S16 channel assignments are completely different a P16 connected directly to the mixer. This is our first time working with a personal monitor system like this.

The P16 connected to the mixer follows what is programmed in the routing\P16 tab. The P16 connected to the S16 has only 4-5 channels operating and half of them seem like they are combining all instruments into one channel.

This is what is programmed at the mixer:
1 = click
2 = drums
3 = bass
4 = keys
5 = piano
6 = electric guitar 1
7 = electric guitar 2
8 = acoustic guitar 1
9 = acoustic guitar 2
10 = background vocals
11 = vox 1
12 = vox 2
13 = fx
14 = aux l (cd/ipod)
15 = aux r (cd/ipod)
16 = talkback

What is coming through on the P16 on stage is:
1-4 = nothing
5 = aux l
6 = aux r
7 = all instruments and vocals
8-10 = nothing
15 = vocals

Am I missing something somewhere in the setup? How can it be so different? I dont understand how it is getting that mix.

Any thoughts?

Ethernet cable has 4 seperate pairs and I would guess that different channels are being transmitted down different pairs so It could be a faulty pair in your cat 5 cable . Ive got one cable at home that doesnt like being plugged in between my x32 and s16 but when you put it on a cat 5 cable tester it passes, strange but when I swap it out everything works great.

Re: S16 and P16 issue

Wow, Sensational work - I love the consistency you have applied to the interface - Makes if feel very familliar when you model the software on the desk it'self. Congratulations - Please look after the BAs and developers on this project :-)

Thanks - I'm starting to feel pretty good about this thing.

Pauly

Just tried in offline mode....

Behringer kicks it up... This will be so handy!

Re: windows 8 - drivers compatibility

Probably will - how do I set compatibility mode ? Not fully up to speed with all the windows 8 stuff yet!
Andre worked out how to do it now - though needed to run also as administrator ( install actually failed but this is because I did not have it connected to x32 - and did a cancel - but think it will probably now work) - Thanks

Hi Nick, right click on the installation exe and go to properties, then go to the compatibility tab, I think I set it to Vista or XP SP 2, and install with "run as administrator" if it brings up a block asking for help just say no. That should do the trick, it did it for me. I'm running win 8 64bit.

XiControl idea

For Uli and the tech guys,

If you want to impress everyone, as well as blow all other iOS apps for mixers out of the water, please consider being able to write scenes to files from the XiControl app, preferably via DropBox, while in offline-mode

Being able to set up scenes, save them to file, just needing to drop them onto a USB key (via computer or CCK) would add just that little extra functionality for those of us who do a bit of travelling between gigs, as well as downtime at night, and speed up setups on the day.

As it is you have a damn impressive app, a few more tweaks and you will have the best on the market. Once the RTA is built in ;)

Re: XiControl Bug & Omissions

Another omission is the inability to get to the output delays from the iPad, unless I'm missing something. It's a winner to walk around and adjust delays from remote listening locations.

I had also this remark, sitting on the spot adjusting delay and volume to align delay speakers is such a great thing. As a workaround I do use my laptop, but the ipad would be easier.

Re: XiControl idea

Guys let's be reasonable. To me the XiControl is the best app in the market. There is nothing out there that matches in functionality and design. The graphics is just really awesome.

Great job behringer and can't wait for what you guys will roll out at namm!

Has anyone checked out the XiQ iPhone app?

android tablet option!

A case for enhancing the x control. I can use the xcontrol application on my android tab using splash top
ok you need a ther laptop attached to the x32 as well but a viable option??????!!!!!!
if someone has suggested this before apologies.

Currently testing it on windows 7 but even with windows 8 the xcontrol would need enhancing to at least to be able to resize - but better still proper pinch and zoom.

(for a premium can access desktop remotely via another wifi network - sit at home and mix the gig!!!!!)

Hi Jared,
Checkout the table on page 19 of the S16 Quick Start Guide (downloadable on our website and included in the S16 box). You will notice that different S16 modes will route different signals out the S16's ULTRANET port. It sounds like you may have it on a mode that routes AES50 1-16 instead of the traditional AES50 33-48 that corresponds to the P16 out tab on the X32. Hope it helps!

Re: S16 and P16 issue

I wish I had one of those s16's, but they're not available yet from the main distributor here, Starin. Hopefully soon.

Hello Declan.

As of this morning, Starin shows a quantity of 1363 S16s in stock. I'd check with your dealer again. If they can't help you, PM me and we can get you taken care of.

I agree Juergen!
But things can only be better and Behringer has really showed us that.

I have played around a little with the XIQ app, in sim mode, it is not self explaining, but I think I got the picture. I could not find any documentation on the Behringer homepage.

It also works fine on iPad retina in 2x mode.

Here some quick conclusions:

1 - setup, here you configure, connect and select the bus that you will use for monitor
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357826124.797954.jpg

2 - assigning channels to monitor to 4 personal faders. If more than one channel is assigned, a MCA is created for each personal fader!!

As I am running in sim mode I can not conclude the cross fade behaviour (see the meter moving when pushing the fader)

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357826410.972059.jpg

3 - flip the iPhone or iPad and you will see what I conclude is sends on faders for all channels, buses and fx

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357826918.429620.jpg

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357826943.446709.jpg

You can tap the left bar and select one or all personal faders.

Again, Behringer, compared to your competitors, I think this will be best personal monitor app.

Well done!

Behringer team,

A proposal,

Start up two sticky threads on the Behringer forum for change proposals/future requests and error reporting on the xicontrol and XIQ app. I have seen a couple of minor (probably known) errors and some proposals.

The most important I think for live usage is a setting to prevent sleep mode and force app in foreground.

I agree on previous requested for xicontrol in e g
- mute indication on mini meters
- mute group control
- mute group assign
- output delay control
- offline editing of libraries etc
- better panning control. Hard to null! Use pot GUI or keep existing w double tap
.

Some new ideas:
- Full screen meter mode, or app acting as meter bridge w some different views. More readable. Now you get lots of meters.... Mini meters and meter tab. For use when using x32 as surface and iPad just resting on top of doghouse.

- Popup labels. very good but should improve in order to avoid control of wrong things. For us with sausage fingers it is important.
--Add possibility to configure on top of pots like on faders.
--add controlled element label on popup label, etc when grabbing GEQ it should readout the FQ and then value below. When moving fader it should readout channel name and the value below.

- Preamp control, including s16. During sound check etc.

- add double tap as nulling/reset behaviour on controls, maybe with confirmation.

- when editing channel details, the channels select arrow buttons are dangerous. Easy to change channel unintended. Secure channel selection (by require confirmation if channel is edited) or move buttons. I understand this can slow down workflow or violate GUI principles but better safe than sorry.

At last. In order to learn the now complex xicontrol and XIQ. Manuals or guides for the beginners is needed.
Please also consider possibility to always save the last changes in demo mode when app quit or hibernate.

More to be written in a new thread on Behringer forum.
Although. I am impressed. Very impressed. Game changer.

Cheers,
Jon

I'm using PocketCloud's VNC option to control the laptop, but would love to not have to worry about the extra computer.

Since my major need is just control of the faders, I'm looking into using the AndOSC application and OpenSoundControl to create my own app for now, but it would be nice if Behringer would write a native android app... I've got to believe that there's just as many droid users doing sound as there are apple users.

The four pairs are tx, rx, sync send, sync return so it is all or nothing
