Re: X32 2.0 Firmware/X32 Apps

I'm sure this as been brought up before. But has behringer set an official ETA for the X32-Mix and X32-Edit apps? Seems like everything they keep saying is just "2 weeks" and it will be done, but then at the end of two weeks its "2 more weeks" etc. I wish they would give us actual dates - and stick to it. Oh well, that what you get with cheaper development i guess (well, I've had problems with Midas firmware in the past too so I guess it's not just cheap development)

If you have ever developed software, you know it isn't possible predict when the bugs are fixed. You test, find a bug, fix it, rinse & repeat till all works. Sometimes fixing one bug creates a new one. I suppose they could have held off the V2 code till the apps were working but then there would other complaining. It will be done when it is.

While this is true, most software developers will operate on some sort of development schedule. Sometimes features end up being scrapped last minute if they aren't working in time for the release, but at some point, the software has to ship!

What I find troubling is that this firmware update completely broke iPad control. Nowhere in the release notes of the firmware (at least for the X32 Rack) does it indicate that at this time, updating the firmware will render iPad control non functional. Without that, it's pretty difficult to use the mixer!

Had they left the 'beta' tag on the software until the iPad software could be updated, then it would be an acceptable compromise. I'm glad I look at these forums before applying the updates, as that would have resulted in some choice words that can't be repeated here.

Re: X32 2.0 Firmware/X32 Apps

https://www.dropbox.com/s/e19zusoq9q44l43/X32-Mix 2.1.2.ipa
To install, turn off auto-update on Ipad, remove the app form Ipad and Itunes, drag the old version file (from Dropbox) to Itunes, and sync.

When I drag this .ipa version into my iTunes, it asks for your password. Has anyone had success getting the 2.1.2 X32-Mix back working after updating and now not having any control on iPad? Please post details on how to fix.

So the app is password protected, and cannot be copied between machines.

First chek if the old version is in your Trash. If you find it there, copy to iTunes.

I use Time Machine to backup my Mac. Found the old version under Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications, restored from backup before Jan 29th, and copied to iTunes. Remember to delete the 2.1.3-version both on iPad and iTunes first, and turn off auto-update. Sync.

I guess I'm just screwed they come out with a new one (so I will have to run v1.15 or have no ipad app) I don't use the computer to download my Apps I just download them straight from the ipad.

DAW playback during production

I just finishing building up our third X32 and portable rig for one of our campus churches. As it's a new launch, the band will be small. The worship leader has created bass and other fill instruments using Logic Pro that will ultimately be live. We want to play them back into the board channels originally dedicated for that instrument. For example, if a bass guitar is missing then we want the Bass track from Logic to play into the Bass channel on the board as if it was live. Same for Synth, drums whatever. So here is the approach that I have taken. Looking for feedback if there is a better way.

We are using an X32rack on stage in HA remote mode (S16 mode- 2.02FW). We are mapping the X32Rack Card 1-8 inputs to AES50A Channels 33-40. (This gets them up and out of the way of the physical x32rack inputs and also still room to add an addtl S16 if needed). On the X32 we assign AES50A Channels 33-40 to Channels 25-32 (previously unused channels). Say Computer Bass is AES50A Channel 33 = Mixer Channel 25 then I go into the normal Bass Channel (13) and on the config page, choose AES50A 33. (I basically have mirror channels on 25 and 13. I hate wasting the channels (25-32) but because they are only assignable in blocks of 8 and I don't need to rewrite the entire block to CARD inputs I don't see a way around this.

Thots?

X32rack multiple laptops for playback

I use my X32 fullframe for live, but for dj work I did buy a X32rack as an enhancement. (Is going to replace a klark DN9340 helix eq, tc triple C multiband compressor, lexicon reverb, focusrite compounder)
As I do dj work with PC/laptop, I was thinking of using the USB connection on the expansion slot to serve as the soundcard of the laptop, so I avoid going back to analog, thus staying in digital domain. I assume this is going to work because the dj application can output to ASIO. But I have also a second laptop as a backup, and for special sounds.

With the USB connection I can only connect one at a time. But what if I swap the card for a dante expansion card. Can I connect multiple laptops, and have them both output sound over dante to the X32? Is a special driver or software needed between the dj application and the dante network? Could this setup work? I was triggered with the new shure wireless mics who have also dante output... Btw a total of 32 channels is more then enough. :D~:-D~

As I understand it this should work. The routing is configured by audinates software and not the x32.

The rumour is that the dante card should show up in the stores very soon. I hope that is true since I want one my self.

You can reassign individual channels. The blocks of 8 are just a quick way to change large numbers of channels. select the individual channel you want to reassign and page through the menus to find the patch options. I have one of my boards with channel numbers all over the place in order to group certain inputs next to each other. I'm off today so I don't have a board handy to give you more specifics.

You can't freely assign inputs (a hardware limitation, as has been cited on here a few times) - if you want to use just one or two CARD channels, for example, you have to assign a minimum of 8 (in the routing tab). Then, out of the four blocks you've chosen in the routing page, you can assign any input from those blocks to any channel on the desk.

Likewise, if for some reason you wanted to use four channels from an S16, and the remaining 28 from the local preamps, it can't be done.

A small inconvenience considering how flexible the routing is in other respects, and the sheer value for money!

You can route 2, 4 or 6 channels in the aux input remap, and these can be card or aes50, so there are ways around the block of 8 limitation.

P16-m and remote power

I got tired of using the original power supply for my single/dual p16-m setup so I did some investigation and tried my findings.

I used the original power supply and a PoE adaptor.Seems to work great. No smoke in the first hour at least :-)

Try it at your own risk!

This looks nice!

Can you please tell us the product number or a link?
I couldn't find anything resembling the picture on the KMETECH site.

Bus/monitor volume

Hi.

I can't figure out how to set the overall volume for the busses I use for monitoring purposes.

I have figured it out for DCAs and subgroups, I have figured out how to set volume levels for certain channels I want on a monitor but I thought that, after having set the volumes of channels I want on some monitor, I should be able to control the overall volume with the respective bus no. fader and I can't.

So I'd be glad if someone had any hints or a link to Youtube.

Many thanks!

Regards

Thorsten

But with other consoles in that range, you can assign any input to any channel strip. This is a big inconvenience to the church install market where the stage has to be wired "1 to 1". We can't really sell the joys and convenience of an "easy to use" digital and patch bay if we have to have lay people jump through a bunch of hoops.

Hi Thorsten,

Select your monitor bus, then make sure the tap point is "post-fader". This will make the bus fader a master volume control for that bus.

Re: DAW playback during production

Actually, you can map any channel to any input like you just said. The thing that Per was talking about is that the inputs you can choose from have to first be mapped into 4 blocks of 8 consecutive channels chosen from something like 128 preamp channel possibilities (local and AES50 channels -if you got 'em). There is also the remapped channels to pick from, which can only be chosen from local 1-6, and AES50 1-6 (a and b), I look forward to the day that those remapped channels have more options than that. Doesn't 2.x possibly have more options for the aux in remapped channels?

Re: Bus/monitor volume

That would be counter-intuitive to monitoring, I think, because moving the fader for the main mix would also influence the volume of the monitor mix.

Furthermore: Isn't it possible to send a subgroup to a (monitor) mixbus?

Hi Thorsten,

Select your monitor bus, then make sure the tap point is "post-fader". This will make the bus fader a master volume control for that bus.
