X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Live recordings

Hi Robert,
It will be an expansioncard that works with android and IOS. I heard it will be available this month. Sorry can't tell my source but it looks great, and it will be orange.

X32 plugs - damaged on arrival

Has anyone else (UK based) received their X32 with a broken mains plug?
My full size bought last year came with this:
Full-plug_zpssjvzdlva.jpg

I've just bought a rack, which came with this:
Rack-plug_zpswicdgvq8.jpg

Like most people in this business I have loads of spare IEC leads but it's a little worrying that these plugs seem to be so brittle that they don't even survive being shipped with the products. Neither box had any sign of damage and the mixers were both perfectly fine too.

Re: X32 plugs - damaged on arrival

Just had a call from Music Group about this one - they offered to send out replacement leads but I really don't need any more. They're feeding back to the factory about it; nice to be able to have such direct contact with the manufacturers.

Re: X32 Discussion

Yeah...is Behringer going to come out with an
Option it is this it?

I was all excited about this offering .... but seriously ..... $800.00? ..... and no MP3 playback?

You know, I think you can very nearly purchase an entire X32 rack for that much money. Seems a little over the top (OK, WAY over the top) price wise for what it is.

Oh well. I guess I will still be getting some use out of my old (very old) tablet PC for recording shows ;)

Snippet Syntax - Subs -XDB monitor out

G'day All,

I am using snippets to set the current pair of monitors being used - For example.. a small and a large pair.

I also run subs - Which has been great untill I just replaced my large mnonitors and now there's too much bottom end with the subs on. So... I tunr them off with the below snippet (Outputs 11 & 12 are the subs).

#2.1# "JBL NoEQ" 4 1 0 0 1
/outputs/main/11 0 IN/LC
/outputs/main/12 0 IN/LC
/outputs/main/13 74 IN/LC
/outputs/main/14 75 IN/LC
/outputs/main/15 0 IN/LC
/outputs/main/16 0 IN/LC

..Now there's not enough bottom end... however if I change the 11 & 12 to 74 & 75 (like the monitors on 13 & 14) there's too much sub.
So.. I thought I'd change the 11 & 12 to 50 & 50... It then seems the monitors were set at 50 and no longer varied with the main fader (as they do when it's 74 & 75).

Can someone please advise exactly what the syntax is for the snippets.. and ideally, a way to subtract X Db from tthe main fader out.

Thanks... Hope I've explained properly :-)
Thanks
Pauly

Re: X32 Discussion

I know it's not cheap but i ordered the card uTrack 32 card because when someone spills a drink in my Macbook is not cheap either. I will keep you guys informed when i get it and give it a try.

Re: Snippet Syntax - Subs -XDB monitor out

Let me clkarify my question -
see the lines;
/outputs/main/11 0 IN/LC
/outputs/main/12 0 IN/LC
...
These are the subs... When I set the number to 0 & 0 (as above), the subs are off. When I set the zeros to 74 & 75, the subs are on.. but too loud. So... I tried 44 & 45.... no subs....

What are these numbers for?

Thansk again

Re: Snippet Syntax - Subs -XDB monitor out

Well Well.. I think I get the numbers now... they represent what the output is 'fed' by...
OK... I thought they were the level of the output - Doh!.

So... the question now is...
How do I lower the output of outputs 11 & 12 within the snippet?
For example.. If I want to lower the output by 4db... is there a way to achieve that with the snippet?

Thanks
Pauly

That is correct Pauly. If you want more details on these values, have a look at Patricks OSC document (https://sites.google.com/site/patrickmaillot/x32), particulary page 30.

The /output/main command is equivalent to the Routing, Out 1-16 screen on the X32
You will also notice that the second value (IN/LC) is incorrect. That second value is the tap point (eg. POST).

So... the question now is...
How do I lower the output of outputs 11 & 12 within the snippet?
You have to set the output value of the signal that it is sent. For example, if the Output 11 is assigned mixbus 11, then you would need to set the mixbus main fader level accordingly. If you want to set it at -5db you would use the following command:
/bus/11/mix/fader -5 (see page 24)

For example.. If I want to lower the output by 4db... is there a way to achieve that with the snippet?
Unfortunately not. These are absolute values. The only way to accomplish this is to request the current level from the X32, subtract 4db and send the new value back to the X32. Snippets don't have this capability. But the X32 Live Toolbox (http://sourceforge.net/projects/x32livetoolbox/) has this built in.

Re: Snippet Syntax - Subs -XDB monitor out

Hi Paul

Seems that could be an answer for me - IE -
0/ Route the Monitor out to 13 & 14 (for the monitors)
1/ route the monitor output to bus 11
2/ set the level of the bus to say -6
3/ route that bus to outputs 11 & 12.

Is that possible? To be honest, I need assistance with the syntax a little :-)

Thanks for the reply

Pauly

Be glad to help with the syntax. I need some clarification first. When you refer to the "Monitor", do you mean the headphone monitor bus, or a monitor for the band (ie. a mixbus). If it is the latter (a mixbus) which bus do you want to use?

Re: Snippet Syntax - Subs -XDB monitor out

Hi again Paul,

Well... I _think_ I mean 74 & 75 - Which is the sources I'm taking to each output...so I assume main stereo out? [Edit] - just counted them out.. 74 & 75 are Monitor L & Monitor R out... SO the main fader can be used to vary volume.

Back to the problem -
I have 2 sets of monitors, (1 set small & 1 set Large), and one Sub.
I have the sub connected to outputs 11 & 12
I have the Large monitors connected to outputs 13 & 14
I have the small monitors connected to outputs 15 & 16

I use snippets to turn on/off the large or small monitors, and the sub stays on for both.

The sub _was_ fine at the same level for both sets of monitors but I have changed the big ones, and now (when I am listening to the large monitors) the sub is too prominent.

So... What I need to do is to lower the sub level when I choose the large monitors using a snippet.

Hope that clarifies it?

Thanks again - Your help is valuable to me!

Re: Snippet Syntax - Subs -XDB monitor out

G'day All,

I just want to make a big fuss over Paul Vannatto, and all the help he has just given me. Over the period of a week or so, Paul has 'held my hand' while I tried to work out the vagaries of snippets, and multiple studio monitor configurations.

In the end we succeeded which is fantastic, but there's no way it would have happened without Pauls help.

So;

THANKS SO MUCH Paul Vannatto!,

Paul spends his own time helping X32 owners with no profit - just to help -
The world should have more like him :-)

Thanks
Pauly

Ultramatch SPDIF to X32?

G'day All,

Hey one thing that would be really good in the X32 is SPDIF inputs as I have a number of units in the studio that have SPDIF ouputs. Currently, if I need to use those units, I have to use thier analog outs into the X32.

Is it possible to use the Behringer Ultramatch to get a couple of inputs into the X32 digitally?

Thanks
Pauly
