Make sure that under setup/card firewire is selected
under setup/global under synchronization make sure that local is selected.
Verify your firewire cable (try another one)
If you have another Fiwi port try as well. I have 2 ports that don't read mine
If all else fails try that suggestion of Per Søvik

Have you tried removing the card, powering up without the card, power down, reinstall the card and power up. Just in case there is a bad connection or the card hasn't been initialized right???
Don't know if it will make a difference at all, but quite a common thing to do whenever an expansion appears to be faulty, wether on a PC or on a desk.
