X32 Discussion

re: X32 Discussion

I wonder how many of the questions asked could be answered by reading http://www.behringer.com/assets/X32_P0ASF_QSG_WW.pdf. And imagine how much easier Christian's life might be if there were a full manual available!

One thing I did note in the Quick Start Guide linked is that the Warranty is stated to be one year and while there are fewer exclusions, there is also no apparent mention of a three year warranty. Since Behringer reps have indicated that the X32 has, if registered online, a three year warranty and the X32 web site page seems to suppoprt that, I am now more confused than ever regarding the warranty for the X32. Is the warranty one year, it is three years or is it one year unless registered online and then three years but with additional exclusions still limited to one year of coverage?

re: X32 Discussion

Hi Brad,
thanks for your assurance!

I don't mind, answering X32 questions since this seems to be a nice community and it is a nice distraction from my day job:)
To my understanding Behringer has just opened two major care-center (England and in the U.S.), I hope there will be more information announced about how to deal with warranty, service, contact in general.
BTW: Just found that on the Behringer site-->

Behringer: DIGITAL MIXER X32 under "downloads"-->

The soundcard driver for the X32 recroding card and the latest firmware:)
Christian

EDIT: And there is a count down for the X32. Seems, that in three days there will be some lucky X32 ownders around.

What the SOS test says:

'This console has no alternative – anything remotely comparable costs between two and four times more.'

'Moreover, the X32 compares favorably from a features point of view with some very serious high-end live-sound consoles.'

'This dramatically undercuts the obvious competition, such as Yamaha’s LS9 and Presonus’s Studio Live, while competing on features with still more expensive desks such as the Soundcraft Vi Series.'

'It’s so well designed, built and priced that I’d say it’s pretty much a no-brainer for a good many applications.'

'I performed a full set of measurements on the console using an Audio Precision system, and the results, which you can see in these graphs, closely matched Behringer’s published specs, and are very impressive.'

'The X32 should win the ‘Best Product of 2012’ award with considerable ease!'

Wow, that is quite a review. I would imagine that this review/cover story in SOS will even further backorder the console. My order has been in for a little while now, but I'll be surprised if I see anything until September.

re: X32 Discussion

Sorry, don't get this one. Every channel can directly assigned to the Mains and the Mono out with the Mains Buss buttons and PAN encoder, left next to the Main LCD.

Probably asking the wrong questions out of ignorance, it will probably be quite obvious to me soon. I can't see a Centre/Mono out anywhere on the desk, so I assume you have to assign it to one of the outputs to have it available, just as you would have to assign the Main LR to a couple of the outputs to have it available anywhere but the Monitor Out (and possibly the AES/EBU)
Would be nice though if the Master Fader could be assigned to several channels, as I would like to run double mains plus subs, and really wanting 5 channels on the Main Fader. I'll just have to pester Behringer for an update

Dave

Who are you ordered with? I've an order with studiospares and the sales guy seemed to indicate that I was third on the list....

re: X32 Discussion

Can this mixer save & load scenes, effects, etc. on a usb stick like an M7CL/LS9?

And are they planning or does it have an offline editor similar to Yamaha?

re: X32 Discussion

it's called a matrix....
Yes, if all the outs could be sourced from the Mains Bus post Main Fader, then matrixing the outputs would work. If you have subs, mains, frontfills and delays all sourced from the Main LR bus, going post Main fader to filtering, no problem.
The reason why I would like to have the Master fader as an assignable VCA, is that there are multiple sources; Music LR, Vocals LR and Aux send Subs, and having all these controlled by a Master Fader that is allways there is a plus. It doesn't matter if one hase to link the Master Fader to a VCA to achieve this as long as it is possible somehow.

re: X32 Discussion

It is possible, the aux outputs in each channel post eq / pre-comp to route?

best regards

Good question. Look at the block schematics in the quickstart guide, it shows all the options. Basically all signal taps are behind the Gate and the HiPassFilter. Than you can select under "sends":

Post EQ: tap is behind the EQ but before the compressor. You can tap it with the compressor, this is determined by the setting you do in the channel config page of each channel. There you can decide, which order EQ&Compression should have. If you set the dynamic before the EQ than "PostEQ" is after EQ&Dyn. If you set the EQ before Dyn., that set's "PostEQ" before the Compressor.
I'm quite sure, that nobody get's, what I'm trying to say here.:?~:-?~:???: So, download the QS Guide und look at the schematics.

To sum it up:
Gate&HPF are always in the mixbus, the rest is fully modifiable:)
