X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Discussion

Has anyone had problems with the console lamp/gooseneck? I tried 2 different lamps (4 pin) borrowed from other consoles. 1 was LED 1 was incandescent. Neither worked. Couldn't troubleshoot beyond that last night. I'm pretty confident that both of those lamps were fine but will check further.

Is there somewhere to turn the thing on or off?
Am I missing something?

Otherwise seems to be great machine. Just got the console Thursday night (with the Gator G-Tour case) . Mixed 2 bands on Friday night. I had very little time to play with it before using it. The console sounds great. Couldn't be happier at this point............now if I could just get the light to work :?~:-?~:???:

It really does sound good!

Re: X32 Discussion

Hi David
You have to turn on the lamp in the view page of that section of the X32.....and you can also dim the lamp there as well......

Ahh yes. In the talkback section. Makes sense since the view button is near it, and it goes with workflow of the desk but actually didn't think to look there.

Re: X32 vs X32C

Hello

quick look at Behringer site reveals difference in pictures - no card with FiWi and USB

In the description is possible explanation:

The Future is Here—Now!

System expansion and connectivity capabilities are provided via an integrated card slot, which allows you to add up to 32 channels of digital audio I/O by way of IEEE1394 FireWire, ADAT TOSLINK or USB. It will even support standalone 16-channel uncompressed multi-track recording to an attached USB drive—without requiring a computer!

32 channels of ADAT via card slot. This I like quite a bit as I use a Fostex D1624 and D824 to have 24 channels of recording. I like how reliable they have been. Return them to the X32c for basic mixdown. Does the 32C still have a slot for the USB on front so a person could bounce the tracks or is this now only done with the card slot?

P.S. I was hoping the "C" was for control surface. A control surface only desk. Just a few XLR in/outs and the rest would be from the Mix Boxes on stage.
Maybe for a lower price... Sigh...Next time.

My boss purchased an x32 for smaller shows and in less than a month, while living in a custom case we had a fader die. Our dealer is taking care of it. Starting to have doubts about the longevity of this console.

Re: X32 Discussion

Very hard to tell what the difference is between the 2 consoles, other than there being less surface lights. Like to see a comparison chart.

okay, i've spent a little time staring at the available photos on the website, and i can see NO difference between these two products except that the X32C lacks the pre-installed Firewire/USB card. I fail to see how something like this would even NEED to be 'coming soon!' I can go change my X32 to an X32C right now by pulling the card out. The only thing i can think is that this will be sold once they've introduced some other cards so you can buy the X32C version and then add whatever card you'd like.

Yawn.

Still waiting for that exciting X32compact. If i could have an X32 without a surface or analog i/o but otherwise the same, i would be very very happy. I'd be buying 3 right away with probably more to follow...

A friend of mine has the Midas Pro 2C and has had fader problems as well. And the build of the Midas has not been questioned so far. I know the Midas uses Penny & Giles faders so one should not be so quick to blame Behringer for this. I guess it can happen to anyone. Does he like the desk otherwise?

OK, I guess they are planning to start shipping it without the recording card for a couple of reasons I can think of. Yanking the card out will enable them to lower the price or keep the price from going up, and also in anticipation of new cards coming out soon, it makes sense not to charge customers for something they will not be using. The XUF card will then probably be offered alongside other cards. I wouldn't be surprised if the current X32 (X32c + XUF "bundle") ceases to exist quite soon, and "X32" just becomes the "family name"

Re: Cases for the X32

I am looking for an afforable case for my X32. I found this one made by Elite Core at ProAudio.com for U$250. Anyone familiar with the make and quality of Elite Core cases? Better yet, has anyone purchased one for their X32 and, if yes, can you share your opinion of it?

Also, I recall someone saying they bought or were looking at one from Multi-Caisses in Quebec, Canada. I can't seem to find the post but would appreciate if the poster could indicate how much the case cost.

Thanks in advance!

Kevin

Re: X32 Discussion

It would seem that this IS the x32 compact. 12 input faders, less lights and 8 user assignable buttons.... Or am I counting wrong?

Re: X32 Discussion

Faders 13 to 16 are there in the linked photo... just up rather than down so a bit hard to spot.
Thanks Alan. Very well spotted. It will be quite interesting about which direction it goes. Surely removing and inch or two off the y axis of the desk is not the only mod.

Re: Confirming the straight-thru patch

Hi,

I just cannot seem to get the Airport Express working with an iPad, after reading what people say and the Behringer Youtube video still not getting a result.

I've got images of the X32 and the iPad screens for someone to see if everything is correct.

Any help would be great.

Your settings all appear to be correct. You do need to plug the X32 into the LAN port, not the WAN port. The WAN port is the one with a circle logo. Don't use that one. The 169 address isn't a problem, as the router is self assigning an address to the WAN port since it can't find a DHCP server to connect to.

Re: X32 Discussion

Ok, I am stuck bad here. Xicontrol worked then stopped now I can barely get iPad to connect. Router is a Linksys WRT54G v5. Do I need to go buy another router? If it connects at all is there a reason it won't stay connected? Pretty frustrated.

If it works for a while from cold then starts misbehaving, that is a clear sign that it wants to retire for good.
Couple of things to check out though: Is the powersupply the right one and does it supply steady voltage when it heats up? Is the router set to full power or even boost power? Sometimes, setting it to half power will make it stable.
If it is old, chances are that it needs replaced, equipment in these frequency ranges tends to self-destruct by frying itself in its own microwaves.
