X32 Discussion

Re: S16's ( dummies guide!)

However, I want to daisy chain two S16 to ( at this point) simply have them mirror the x32 32 inputs and 16 outputs ... BUT if anyone has set this up and could provide a quick "dummies" guide to the settings I would be very grateful (especially those for the daisy chained S16)- need to use the S16s tomorrow so need to figure it out today

The routing webinar went over the S16's - if you can set one up, setting a second up didn't look any more special - it's just another bank of inputs/outputs that shows up as a source to route from/to.

X32 Live! Webinar: Routing overview - YouTube

Around 13:00 they talk about the inputs, and around 14:00 the talk about two or more S16's and the AES50 ports. At 38:50 they start talking about output routing on the AES50 ports to the S16's - if you start watching there I'll bet that will help you. But don't get hung up on their being two or "daisy chaining" or other concepts - if the S16 is plugged in, the inputs/outputs should show up in the routing section for you to pick and choose.

At the risk of confusing you, you can have up to three S16's on each of the AES ports for a total of six active in the console at any one time - that's obviously way more channels than you can mix - indeed, you pick (in blocks of 8) your inputs and outputs from that "pool" of ports until you fill up your 32 in and 16 out.

Don't over think it... (and I'm not saying that to be smart - I'm saying it because I have shot myself in the foot a couple of times assuming things just had to be more complicated than they turned out to really be)

EDIT: 46:00 has a good discussion around multiple S16's that should also help you visualize.

Re: S16's ( dummies guide!)

After spending the whole day installing a X32 on a site, I found out that saving FX presets to USB was impossible, also loading FX presets from USB. I ran into the same problem with scenes, couldn't save or load scenes to USB. I've done it before on ver 1.09 but now with 1.10 i'm not able to.... ???

Re: S16's ( dummies guide!)

Eric,
Thanks for the link will have a look and will undoubtdly help - I did have some problems with the single S16 - all routing looked correct and input to S16 Ok but had initial problems with it syncing with the console - in end set it as the master

Nick

looked at the webinar useful especially re some of the uses of P16 and aux routing tricks- understood the AES50 routing on the X32 from the manual & Ok with that - it is the settings on the S16 itself which were not too clear - but probably easier than I anticipate

Re: S16's ( dummies guide!)

A bit stuck with this:

I have the S16's connected as follows

AES50A on X32 to S16(1) AES50 A
S16(1) AES50B to S16(2) AES50A

On the home routing screen under AES50 A it shows I have two S16s connected.

However I cannot get the two S16s to Sync together

The first S16(1) is synced to the X32 - the clock input on the X32 is set to AES50A as the source and on the S16(1) the sync is set to master at 44.1KHZ

I presumed that on the S16(2) I would simply set this to slave ( but not sure how to do this!) going through the config options I have the 4 master clock options and then it goes onto the split etc which turns off the master sync - but then the sync(ing) light which was flashing showing no sync or trying to sync goes out completely - the link light on the S16(1)- ( again which was flashing - presume trying to link) also goes out.

Sorry not too clear!!!

Will play around some more but help from someone who has set this up would be welcome

many thanks

Nick

Well solved hopefully - it was one of the CAT5 cables at fault - so swapped out and all seems to be synced - well as far as the lights are concerned ( will put it in the bin)
Also now synced with the X32 as the master - beginning to understand the S16 controls!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nick

Yes all working fine now -was simple once identified the faulty cable!

Has anyone tried this with the new firmware??? can somebody confirm this has gone wrong or is it me going crazy???

Thanks...

Re: Vertical pairing

Dear Per,

i am afraid, if you want to have a Master dependant aux feed sub output, you need to use an Extra DCA, where every input ch is assigned to. This DCA master should be named as MASTER or ALL etc. In this case you should leave the real MASTER fader at 0dB level, and use the MASTER labelled DCA as Master Fader :-(

cheers,

Tamas

Which is why I'm requesting that M/C and LR Master becomes DCA9 and DCA10. I'm not asking for their basic function to change in any way, just that they additionally are selectable as DCA9 and 10 in DCA assignment.

Re: XiControl Bug ? : S16 and XiControl gain not working

Double checked this morning.
This seems to be a bug in the XiControl App.

Can someone of Behringer Support confirm this ?

OK, I've checked this as well. The iPad will not control the S16 input level and additionally the 48V button has gone missing on the iPAD screen and thus you cannot remotely turn on/off the 48V, which I do need to do to quieten the terrible noisy Behringer active DI unit I use on stage.

I'm sure this can be fixed easily in a future release of XiControl....... but quickly please.

Re: Firmware v1.10 Release Notes

All,

THis might help a few people with USB stick issues. It is not a fix for all USB sticks but probably many. If you try and load the new firmware from your usb stick and it does not see the firmware on the stick and boots normally. Then try this, go into 'Setup' and find the setting for the sample rate. Change it from what you are using, probably 44.1K, to 48K and save. This will force a reboot. During this reboot it is far more likely that the new firmware will be seen on the USB stick and will get installed. Once done, go change the sample rate back to what you normally use and save. Another reboot will take place and off you go.

Mike

Good morning Jan. Is item number 1 above suggesting that the update be the only *file* in the root of the USB stick, or the only *ROM image file* in the root?

I tried to update my board last night, and it didn't recognize the new ROM image. Although the USB stick might have other files on it, I'm pretty sure there was only one ROM image file. I'll check it and try again tonight.

-- Mitch

ETA: I just looked at my USB stick. It has both 1.09 and 1.10 *zip* files on it, but only the extracted files from 1.10. I figured it would have seen those and updated. I'll try again tonight with only the extracted file from 1.10 and see if it's a stick-choice issue, or if it was just because I had other files in the root of the stick.

Re: S16 and XiControl gain not working

Thanks, this is useful to know...... of course looking forward to the update as it is a bit debilitating in the short term....

S16 is great though, finally able to dump the multicore. Mike

Re: X32 Discussion

I was talking to a guy today who asked about the times ive used the x32, he asked "can you connect 2 x32 for FOH and monitors to give you a total of 64 chan" that i didnt have a answer to and i have tried to find it on here and behringers site but couldnt find anything.

Im willing to be blasted if i missed it or its just common sense.

Re: Firmware v1.10 Release Notes

Hi Guys,

An old friend Matt Glasser on the East Coast US sent me a cool picture of a show he did last night.
He is using 2 X32s'. One at FOH and one at Monitor position.

The show was with the Misfits.

In the past month he also used this setup with Buck Cherry and Lit.

Pretty cool!

Hello

I can think of one possible way to hook up two X32 parallel on monitor end.

You can get a 64/12 to 60/16 or anyhing between with this setup. i will describe 64/12

connect the 6 AUX outputs into next X32 AUX inputs - and same the other direction.

On first desk assign these AUX signals coming from next desk into submixes 1 - 6 . Also assign the AUX 7 - 12 to go out via AUX- outputs. On second desk assign AUX 1 - 6 to go out via AUX and AUX-returns into submixes 7 - 12.

Now you have total 12 monitor outputs - six coming off each desk.

If your foh does not need all 64 inputs you can do up to 4 more x-patches via channel inputs.

Connect the two foh-desks together via AUX-jacks so that one becomes master.

If there is a need to share effect buses, I imagine the same procedure as in monitor end could be applied.

However I have only one desk and now it is time to go play with 6 year old boy, who is busy playing policeman and eagerly writes me a well deserved ticket for wasting my time at computer.

Possible bug on gain values in new preamps page

Hi to all,
Yesterday I found a possible bug on the preamps screen introduced with firmeware 1.10.
On this screen the minimal value for the local inputs * is -2dB. But with the gain encoder on the home screen the minimal value can be set to -12dB.
So, is this a bug or a feature?

I also found that, if you de-activate the confirm popup messages, you can delete a scene without a confirmation, but you have to confirm a channel paste action (which is IMO the lesser critical change).

But in general this is a great product, with all the possibilies regardless the price you have to pay

Greetings from Austria

Klaus

*I cannot check the S16 because I do not have some (in the moment)

Anyone else here feeling more then a bit uneasy about the truss deployment shown in that photo? Hopefully it's just one hell of an optical illusion, but it looks at though there is some considerable deflection on that cross section over the audience... that upstage / stage right support also looks a bit questionable, but again, could just be the photo. Any more detailed photos of this setup available?

I appreciate the excitement of being able to use the X32 console in a new and creative setup... but with a photo like this, the console is the last thing that I noticed. Hopefully I'm incorrect and just being over-sensitive to the public safety aspect of what we do.

Re: Firmware v1.10 Release Notes

The lift appears to be a Global Truss ST180 and they are rated for 500# each. The picture is a little fuzzy so I can't tell for sure but the truss looks to be Global F33 Triangle Truss. At 10 Meters it is rated for a UDL of 815.71# with a deflection of 3.28 inches. Can't tell form the picture but it is probably a 10 Meter span and the load looks pretty evenly distributed. I have no idea how much the fixtures weight on there though.
