New QSC Product - TouchMix

re: New QSC Product - TouchMix

One should never be in a hurry to purchase a newly-released product. Let someone else work out the bugs and see how it fares in the real world first before giving up your hard earned dollars.

Absolutely. And come summer, the QSC product will have several months in the field while the Behringer is newly-released and still of unknown reliability.

I'd rather do a show with QSC K-series speakers, which I trust, than Behringer equivalents.

Guys,

Here's the deal with the QSC mixer: It's tiny. I don't know of anything close to this size with so much capability, even small analog consoles are larger. Great utility piece if you ask me, not to mention you can connect a dozen iPads to it and control individual monitor mixes, etc. Comes with a carrying case so QSC obviously know what it's for. The 16 channel version is not much larger than the 8", and can do 20 in by 12 out.

I have been avoiding all conversations x whatever related and I am already close to the same with m whatever.

I can easily see using the qsc product for high profile low input shows or as a backup.

Despite knowing several people whose opinions I trust that are using x32's and having done a half dozen shows with no hitches when an x32 was what was provided, my opinion hasn't changed.

I wouldn't put my money into a show critical piece with the berhinger name on it even if they offered the functionality of a xl8 at a cost of 6 boxtops and the price of shipping.

I reserve the right to change my mind but that is unlikely to happen for at least 50 more shows.

(And if you are going to brag about the features, font look blankly at me when I ask about basic stuff like a frequency key for a gate.)

I have had mine for a year and no problems. I always have another console I can use with me.

Yep and when tim and you report back and in a couple of years that all is still well I might reconsider

But prior to that new inning starting, behringer has already had 9 strikes and been retired for this inning.

re: New QSC Product - TouchMix

My original post was that I saw a valid time and place that would make me consider owning the qsc mixer. That is coupled with the fact that I trust qsc products.

The part you quoted was my response to the response to my comment about I don't really care about feature to price ratio on a product from a company I don't trust.

So in summary: new mixer from qsc is of interest to me even if it is feature light compared to some other products (the gist of many of the other posts in the thread are focused on what it doesn't do)

Hopefully my train of thought is clear in context.

re: New QSC Product - TouchMix

Bennett always liked to say "The wrong product at the right price is still the wrong product."
I'll slightly modify that to say in this case: "The wrong product at the right time is still the wrong product."

The wrong product at the right time might be the only product and therefore by default the right product.

The DL1608 was certainly that. However they are making strides in making it the "right product" :)~:-)~. The QSC and Behringer clones sure look kickarse though :?~:-?~:???:.

Can you call them 'clones' if they were clearly all in development before any of them were announced?

Also, to me they all seem like very different products. do you want recallable preamps? do you want a built-in interface, or use with your own ipad? answer those questions and you rule out the ones you don't want pretty quick.
