X32 Discussion

Re: Recording effects into a DAW

I was hoping you could post such a scene so that I can see what exactly is involved. Would that be possible?

Thanks.

Re: XiControl IPAD - Audio at iPAD Headphones

I wondered if it would be possible to have the audio stream sent to the iPad so that when I select a specific channel on XiControl I could hear it in the iPAD headphones?
The usual solution to that problem is to use an IEM system. I suspect streaming consistent, good quality, low latency audio over the wifi might be pushing things a little.

Re: Levels and First Gig

i was also a bit taken aback by this behavior. very counter-intuitive for us old analog guys. that being said, it's not a huge deal for me since i really try to not use mutes anyway. this goes back to working for a sound shop where half the desks had On/Off switches and the other half had Mute switches. so on half the desks, red light meant the channel was ON. on the others, it meant the channel was OFF. just too easy to have a mental lapse in that scenario, so i pretty much stopped using Mute/On/off buttons and just started using faders and vca's to turn things on and off....

I agree absolutely. I do the same, to avoid the risk of something slamming in too loud. But as this was my first and only gig with this board for a while, I was trying to use all the bells and whistles whether they were needed or not!:D~:-D~

At least the Behringer guys got it right, a MUTE button that lights up RED when the channel is MUTED. Not an ON button that lights up yellow when the channel is on, (Yamaha) or a ? button that doesn't light up and moves so minimally you can't see whether it's on or off (Mackie)

Klaus, your workaround is ingenious, but would stretch my brain a bit too far, I think..............

Re: Gain

Not all professionals get a chance to do a few hours round-trip to pick up more gear for a last-minute gig - you "run what ya brung".

My point is that basic devices such as pads, isolation transformers and DIs "live" in a workbox or are otherwise part of a standard kit that goes to every event. We're not talking about carrying an extra console, i/o rack or amp rack, but simple items that are frequently used to interface with client-supplied equipment.

Re: Recording effects into a DAW

OK, thanks. Will try later. Got distracted yesterday trying to get your previous suggestions going and ended up actually recording some audio straight through (dry).

Surely others would appreciate having such a scene available on the X32 as an option?

Thanks again.

After trying to load your Scene from a USB drive (stick) I cannot see just how to import the Scene. The manual is very sparse about scenes and in fact does not even mention anything about importing a scene.

I've read about people using their usb drives to load scenes etc though into someone elses X32.

Re: Windows 7 and audio drivrs problem after using the X-32 usb driver

Anyone noticed that their Windows 7 audio mixer just does not work after using and later closing the X32 down?

What sound driver are you using? Is it at the latest version? If integrated motherboard sound you may need to get a quality sound card for more reliability...

Hi Liam,
To import a scene from USB:
1. Navigate to the SCENE menu (Press VIEW near SCENES section on console).
2. Highlight an empty scene slot to import to.
3. Press UTILITY.
4. Press the 4th Rotary encoder from the left labeled "USB Drive: Import Scene".

Hope this helps,

First of all, I messed up a bit with the file I posted (hadn't updated when I was actually finished  ), so download it again to make sure there is actually sound coming thru'.
The way it is set up, is that the signal goes to the recording regardless of fader positions, for monitoring or mixing to Main LR, the Mixbus 1-8 faders governs the signal to the mix.
It can be set up in other ways as well, depending on preferences, this is just an example.

Here is another one, http://www.x32user.net/phpbb2/download/file.php?id=14
now with channels 9-24 being recorded post channel processing, pre fader from the input channels via P16 assignments in addition to what was set up in the previous example.

S16 and XiControl gain not working

I noticed that when I'm using the X32 and S16 with XiControl, the gain (db) fader on the config/preamp tab of the detail page in XiControl doesn't work. Gain has to be adjusted at the mixer or S16. Can anybody confirm? Thanks.

Also, when modifying an existing scene, and re-routing the inputs to AES50, all the gains on the S16 are set to 0. This kind of makes sense, cause you're using the preamps on the S16, but it would be nice if there was some way for the S16 gain to "copy" the existing X32 gain.

Another thing I noticed, is that the gain reading on the S16 doesn't track the gain reading on the X32.

I don't use the onboard sound card. I use Guitar Rig 2. It has the latest drivers. I've been able to restore the audio by repeatedly changing the Restore Defaults option in Windows sound mixer for that device. I get messages that the driver is being used by another program (when I'm sure it is not) and the option to toggle Share with other programs seems to be flaky.

I've also experienced Windows crashes when trying to run Cakewalk Sonar X2 Producer sometimes.

And I have never had Windows 7 Pro crash on me other than that.
