X32 Discussion

Re: Firmware v1.10 Release Notes

What's the process for?

" Due to additional scenes parameters (matrix bus options: signal tap, x-over filter in EQ and phase
reverse) all scenes that use matrix buses should be checked, because previously created scenes do
not contain these additional parameters yet. In order to make old scenes consistent with Firmware
1.10 it is recommended to initialize the console, then load and immediately save back each scene."
I assume, since the additional parameters aren't included in the currently saved scenes the loading of such a scene will not include the additional parameters.

If you have mixed old and new scenes then there is a risk of having matrix setup from a new scene not become initialized when loading an old scene.

By using the initialize scene before loading an old scene you are ensured that the matrix is correctly setup. When you re-save this scene the new parameters will be included in the newly saved scene.

Cool sorry .. I worded that badly ...

I really meant ... "What "is" the process for doing this correctly"? ..

What's the process for?

A guess of explanation:

Behringer invented new parameters for the matrix busses.
Initialising the console asures to bring those new parameters to a default value.
Your saved scenes didn't contain those parameters.
Loading and saving the scene saves the new parameters in your scene.

By the way, if you look at a saved scene or show file it looks like a list of OSC commands.

Re: X32 Discussion

Dear all,

with the availability of the P16 Personal Monitor mixer and now the S16 Digital Snake, we hope you are enjoying your complete X32 digital system. Please give us some feedback as we would love to hear about your experience!

We like to share some exciting news with you.

We have just released a new version of the XControl PC software 0.9 that matches the latest 1.10 firmware and now features full functionality.

We will also soon release a really cool iPhone XiQ Monitor Mix app. As usual it will be for free.

Last but not least, please visit us at Namm to witness the announcement of some more truly ground-breaking products. What is about to be introduced, will take the X32 product family to a complete new level.

With the X32 you are not only investing in an amazing mixing console, but more important in a continuously evolving audio eco system that will improve, grow and enable functionality that no other system can provide. This is just the beginning and soon you will understand what we mean.

Thank you for all your support and great feedback. It is very inspiring to listen to all of you as it helps us tremendously to improve our products and the Company overall.

Re: Firmware v1.10 Release Notes

"Direct control of all mic preamps independent from their channel assignment to allow inline
recording mode and live card inserts:
- route local or AES50 inputs to card,
- route card returns to console input channels"

Can anyone enlighten me on this? Am I being over-optimistic in interpreting this as allowing the console to act as a mic splitter with separate gain controls for recording!! If so WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW hope that the next Uli's announced "new level" will enhance the console into also acting "studio" mixing console i.e with full/some dynamic automation to utilise the onboard dynamics EQ and effects processing!

Re: Recording effects into a DAW

I am having a bad time today just trying to use the X 32 with my Windows 7 32 PC.

Two days ago things seemed fine when I stated the PC and the X32. The next day I had problems trying to run Sonar X2 - the program crashed and there seemed to be issues with the X32 driver.

Sonar works fine with my other PC audio card (Guitar Rig 2) if I switch to that.

Today I can't even get the PC to connect with the X32 through the XControl program though it does show up if I run the X-UF Control program. Network Settings are all unchanged and correct. I can Ping the X32 and that works. No dropped packets.

The usb cable is connected.

I'm really starting to think my X32 is faulty in some respect.

I will restart the PC and see if anything resolves.

I did not help.

The X32 is showing up as an audio device yet just will not connect through the XControl program. It shows up very briefly with Disconnected and before I can hit Connect that disappears leaving just Searching.

Despite showing up as an audio device the driver does not work in either Sonar X2 or Live 8 or 9 beta.

I guess I can try to re-install the driver again.

Hi Liam,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble.
The issue you are having with XControl is because USB functionality has not yet been implemented, you need to connect via the Ethernet port labeled REMOTE CONTROL. In addition, there is a separate USB port next to that Ethernet port that will eventually be used for interfacing with XControl via USB. This is completely different from the USB interface on the XUF card, which is why your XUF control panel worked while XControl did not.

We have successfully tested the X32 with Sonar on PC and had no audio problems. Since your computer is connecting to the card it seems more likely a driver to PC issue than a faulty console or card. Hopefully the reinstall / restart worked out.
If you still are having trouble please send me PM so we can assist.

No, there is no separate gain, it only means you have a way of accessing the input gains when your channel source isn't the input.

Re: S16 and XiControl gain not working

I noticed that when I'm using the X32 and S16 with XiControl, the gain (db) fader on the config/preamp tab of the detail page in XiControl doesn't work. Gain has to be adjusted at the mixer or S16. Can anybody confirm? Thanks.

Also, when modifying an existing scene, and re-routing the inputs to AES50, all the gains on the S16 are set to 0. This kind of makes sense, cause you're using the preamps on the S16, but it would be nice if there was some way for the S16 gain to "copy" the existing X32 gain.

Another thing I noticed, is that the gain reading on the S16 doesn't track the gain reading on the X32.

So, has anybody with an S16 had a chance to see if the iPad gain works. Once I connect an S16 and select it as the input, the iPad "gain" changes to a trim control and doesn't do anything.

Nice work on the updates, and for listening to the users.

Will the iOS control get an update soon? Really looking forward to getting full control via my iPad.

Re: X32 Discussion

OK, I know this should be easy & has probably been covered, but would someone help me with the update from unzipping to completion? I appreciate your time....

Lance, what operating system? I'm a Windows guy. If you double-click the .zip file, it should open and show you the files it contains (two of them). Press Ctrl-A to highlight both of them, and press ctrl-c to prepare to copy them. Now go find your USB stick; it'll be like drive E: or something. Click on it and open just the root directory. Press ctrl-V to commence copying files. It will go fast because they're both relatively small.

Now, "Safely Remove" the USB stick by using the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the lower right corner of your screen (by the date and time). It looks like a little USB connector. Once Windows tells you it's safe to remove your USB stick, take it out of the computer, and insert it into your console's (while the console is off) USB port on the top of the console (just to the left of the screen). Now power up the console. It *should* see the new files and automatically do an upgrade. Mine upgraded to 1.0.9 just like that.

Re: X32 Discussion

Figured out how to format. My format choices are:
ntfs
Fat32
exfat

FAT32 should work just fine. That said, if you've ever used the stick before, it's probably formatted and most likely doesn't need reformatted. In fact, most sticks come formatted FAT32 in the package.

I usually shy away from having people format drives because it's VERY SIMPLY to format the wrong drive, and end up with a blank system drive, or data drive, or such.
