X32 Discussion

Re: New Firmware

When is the new Firmware update coming out need that desser that sopose to be in that release..

Thanks

In my family we have a rule that when in the car one is not allowed to ask "are we there yet?" because the answer is self-evident, and thus voicing the question amounts to whinging.

This question has already been address several times, even by Uli Behringer himself. Since none of us (besides maybe Christian) have any pull at all, it may be best to accept that "we get there when we get there."

Headphone mix

Is it possible to create a buss mix and send that to the headphones?

Thanks
Craig

Hello

Since it is difficult to precisely guess, what Graig is asking, I give two answers.

- YES - it is possible to listen to a group via headphones connected to X32 by pressing Group solo button.
- YES - it is possible to take group-signal using any local ( or S16 ) physical output or P16 system and use wired or wireless headphones from there on.

Somehow I suspect this question is about using iPad for remote and wishing to have solo listening option. For that I would use the second option with wireless transmitter connected to group output - then simply instead of solo-button, use send-level for solo.

Re: New Firmware

Well, it is actually basic singing technique to replace sibliants and plosives with less aggressive sounds.
You might notice that a few great singers tend to talk with a very slight lisp, I don't know if they sound great because they have the slight lisp or wether they have developed a slight lisp from improving their vocal technique, but there it is.

Thanks Timo,

I am actually trying to get 2 separate mixes for in-ears. I'm using the XLR outs to an IEM wireless system for the singer, but need another hardwired IEM.

I thought about getting a headphone amp, but wondered if I could use 1 of the built in headphones outs?

I'll try the group/aux solo button as I'm not actually using the monitor outs.

Craig.

Re: Recording effects into a DAW

First of all, I messed up a bit with the file I posted (hadn't updated when I was actually finished  ), so download it again to make sure there is actually sound coming thru'.
The way it is set up, is that the signal goes to the recording regardless of fader positions, for monitoring or mixing to Main LR, the Mixbus 1-8 faders governs the signal to the mix.
It can be set up in other ways as well, depending on preferences, this is just an example.

Here is another one, http://www.x32user.net/phpbb2/download/file.php?id=14
now with channels 9-24 being recorded post channel processing, pre fader from the input channels via P16 assignments in addition to what was set up in the previous example.

Thanks for the update. I was trying to figure out what I was doing wrong with your first file.

I got to the point where I decided to just record into the DAW without any X32 FX. So thanks for that update.

Re: XiControl IPAD - Audio at iPAD Headphones

Hello

how many hours you can work with iPad , when initially fully charged battery?

Not sure to be honest. I have a new iPad 2 (not the latest as the latest seems to discharge the batteries quicker) and I can use that for at least three hours whilst losing about 8% of the battery in that time so I would imagine a number of days in practice.

Re: Recording effects into a DAW

Hi Liam,
To import a scene from USB:
1. Navigate to the SCENE menu (Press VIEW near SCENES section on console).
2. Highlight an empty scene slot to import to.
3. Press UTILITY.
4. Press the 4th Rotary encoder from the left labeled "USB Drive: Import Scene".

Hope this helps,

I am having a bad time today just trying to use the X 32 with my Windows 7 32 PC.

Two days ago things seemed fine when I stated the PC and the X32. The next day I had problems trying to run Sonar X2 - the program crashed and there seemed to be issues with the X32 driver.

Sonar works fine with my other PC audio card (Guitar Rig 2) if I switch to that.

Today I can't even get the PC to connect with the X32 through the XControl program though it does show up if I run the X-UF Control program. Network Settings are all unchanged and correct. I can Ping the X32 and that works. No dropped packets.

The usb cable is connected.

I'm really starting to think my X32 is faulty in some respect.

I will restart the PC and see if anything resolves.

I did not help.

The X32 is showing up as an audio device yet just will not connect through the XControl program. It shows up very briefly with Disconnected and before I can hit Connect that disappears leaving just Searching.

Despite showing up as an audio device the driver does not work in either Sonar X2 or Live 8 or 9 beta.

I guess I can try to re-install the driver again.

Firmware v1.10 Release Notes

And here are the release notes:

CHANGE LOG
1.10 (2012-11-29)
Improvements:
• Bus AFL solo now always post insert
• Talkback gain reduced (previous default setting was too high)
• Handling of fader move events while switching fader assignment fixed
• Sporadic noise when changing insert position removed
• User assignable buttons now correctly return to previous banks when used for sends on faders
New Features:
• Direct control of all mic preamps independent from their channel assignment to allow inline
recording mode and live card inserts:
- route local or AES50 inputs to card,
- route card returns to console input channels
- set preamp gain (2.5 dB steps) on new preamp setup page,
- adjust digital trim +/-12 dB on console 'tape return' channels
• 2 new Dual-band DeEsser Effects (dual-mono, stereo) with M/S processing option (can be used as
insert or side-chain processes)
• The user assignable buttons can now be (re-)assigned to JUMP function regardless of previous
function (by holding one of the SET buttons)
• Matrix buses have some new features that enable them to be used in simple speaker processing
applications:
- phase inverter switchable in config/preamp section
- signal tap (pre/post EQ, pre/post fader) from bus sends to matrix can be selected now
- EQ bands LOW and HIGH now can be switched to crossover filter types (butterworth, bessel,
linkwitz-riley up to 24dB/oct).
Note: The crossover filter types use up the intermediate bands LOW2 and HIGH2 respectively when
activated.
• New features with GEQ-On-Fader function (reset all, jump in blocks of 8)
• On request for theatre productions−the scene parameter safes for mute and fader/pan in input and
bus channels, can now be set independently
• The meter screens for input channels, mix buses and aux/FX now show the channel's mute status
Notes:
• Due to additional scenes parameters (matrix bus options: signal tap, x-over filter in EQ and phase
reverse) all scenes that use matrix buses should be checked, because previously created scenes do
not contain these additional parameters yet. In order to make old scenes consistent with Firmware
1.10 it is recommended to initialize the console, then load and immediately save back each scene.
