Request: Dual mono delay

I would really like to see a dual mono delay in one effects slot so I don't have to use up 2 of the 4 effects slots for a short and long delay. Since they can do dual pitch, etc in one slot, this should be pretty simple (?) Ideally, would like to have a dual mono delay, voc verb, drum verb, and utility effects slot (chorus or something), but can't really do that as it is now, at least from my limited view of this console.

Really hope this can be considered.

Re: X32 Discussion

From RME UFX Manual:

"Core Audio's Safety Offset

Under OS X, every audio interface has to use a so called
Safety Offset on record and playback, otherwise Core Audio won't operate click-free. The Fireface uses a Safety Offset of 16 samples with USB and 32 samples with FireWire. This offset is signalled to the system, and the software can calculate and display the total latency of buffer size plus AD/DA offset plus 2 x Safety Offset plus Safety Buffer for the current sample rate. "

So if you go to lowest latency: go for USB. This of course won't tell nothing about reliablity with big amount of audio data.

Re: I want to get spoiled

.... you should be able to assign a UDK to a screen view (whatever that view is) - specifically graph a, or graph B

....

Agreed, that would be similar to the Yamaha approach,
but lets assume 4 stereo effects and 8 Mono FX inserts, so you have to assign 12 UDBs.

With my idea that would be 4 UDBs for side chain FX and one for Inserted FX, hit it and select a channel/bus, inserted FX pops up, similar to the View buttons.

Of course what might be a nice approach from my perspective could be BS in the eyes of other users and a nightmare for the X32 programmers.

What you are quoting is totally irrelevant in regards to the X32, both USB and Firewire are capable of extremely low latency.

What matters when you are trying to move 32 channels of uncompressed audio is overall throughput, Firewire 400 and 800 both perform better in bench testing than USB 2.0.

Firewire has a distinct edge in latency - the firewire controller is capable of Direct Memory Access (DMA) on it's own irrespective of the CPU. For this reason, it's perfect for high data rates that require low latency such as audio and video, and why it's the better choice if you have it available. USB is cheaper because it's a simpler controller reliant on the CPU - then again it was invented by Intel who happens to make CPU's - so that may have had something to do with the design choices 8)~8-)~

Is it just me or is Presonus putting up negative reviews of the X32?

Discussion goes out of scope so I'll quit this general discussion about USB/Firmware. Actually it's nice to have both at interface. It gives flexibility

...so I'm repeating my question: Problems or success for anyone with X32 as Audio interface with USB?

Successfully tracked 24 channels over USB; I didn't need more, so I didn't try for more. Windows was a bit flaky as far as the interface being visible in Reaper, so there was some plugging/unplugging, starting and closing Reaper, etc. That PC has problems with the USB driver in general, as I've had trouble getting mice, etc. over USB to be recognized.

Amazing. Just outright lying. Mind you I don't need a negative review like this to make my decision. No moving faders? Forget it.
Here's a quick review of the Presonus console - "it only has one input channel, no outputs, and when I pluggged it in it exploded and burned my house down". About as accurate as his review.

no problems - set up with 32 in and 32 out.
Once got a crackle on play back - just had to re-ok the drivers in the daw and went away.

Re: Request: Dual mono delay

There's 6 bands of eq on every output...

True, and there's a 31-band that can be inserted, and a 4-band (and low-cut) on the channels.

A Q of 10 (about 1/6 of an octave, or close to that) doesn’t go very far with omni’s or ringing out monitors.

It’s like a physician doing surgery with a hatchet instead of a scalpel.

Prior to moving to digital, I had an outboard parametric just for the omni. I've lived without it now. The results aren’t perfect, but it's acceptable.

I've got no bones to pick with Behringer on it. We've had an X32 in production for about five months. It's a great board, especially at that price point. Service and support have been great.

An insertable parametric with higher Q's would be very useful.

Same here, been using USB 16in / 16out since day 1 and no problems at all, I had crackling with firewire and could never get it to work for me ???

We've been using 16 in/16 out since day two with Firewire on a Windows box. No problems at all. (Even running Power Point with fades in the foreground.)
