X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Webinars

Alright got everything updated. Seems to be working OK. Of course I was still half sleep when I went to update the firmware, forgetting to backup all my show files. Oh yeah it deleted them all. Haha! Oh well my fault and I didn't really need them anyway.

I only had a few minutes to make sure the iPad was connecting OK, but one thing I noticed right away. I routed Main LR through FX 5 with the default 31 band EQ, and had a mic plugged in just to get sound through the board, and the RTA display wasn't working. I switched the default RTA view from PRE to POST, and it just started working. Still works switching between the two. Not a huge deal but kinda weird.

I didn't take the time to read Jan's post detailing how RTA display won't be implemented until Mix V 2.3. So I was disappointed to see that wasn't working yet. Again, my own fault for not reading the release notes. This is the #1 feature I've been looking forward to. Oh well, just a little more patience!

Re: X32 Discussion

Can anyone who has opened their desk up, tell me how strong/good the bolt holes are that the rubber feet screw into? Are they only as thick as the chassis, or is there a threaded 'something' behind?

I've just ordered the big X32 for Church; to fit it in our existing custom-built AV deck it will be raised at a slight angle on a wooden 'shelf' - I want to take the bolts out of the rubber feet and put longer ones in through the shelf to anchor it. The angle isn't so great it will fall off on its own, but if pushed it would slide.

They're more like "screws," not bolts.

They're 5/32" in diameter and 1/2" long. (They're probably metric. But, I was just providing scale.)

If memory serves me, I think they just thread into the chassis.

Also of note, there are intake and exhaust areas on the bottom to be aware of.

New Firmware.

So we have a huge show tonight with 5 bands playing. Last night we programmed all the settings into scenes and then loaded those into cues. Then I got a text from John this AM that the new f/w was out. We just got a new x32 rack in do I did a test and found that everything worked great so we uploaded from 2.02 to 2.04. Perfect, not a setting was erased or scene touched. the IPAD app and the x32edit worked great.

Right now I am running my x32rack in parallel with the S16. (one coming over x32 AES50A and the other of 50B). By routing 16 signals from P16 FOH to the S16 and then the other 16 signals from FOH to the x32rack and then to it's P16, we have 32 channels of P16 available. All worked great. Nice work guys!

Now onto the tough question:

I was trying to control the X32 from outside the building. I assigned an external static IP and routed it through the firewall to the X32. Couldn't connect. The only thing I can think of at this point that is causing my issues is that I never put a gateway address in the network settings on the firewall. I never had a reason to before since I was routing through any gateways. I think this is biting me now. Thots? (I had UDP protocols routed and no restrictions on ports.)

Re: X32 Discussion

Did you specifically forward the port for it? Just having your firewall open doesn't do the job. The router has to know where to send a request to on that port, if the connection wasn't started internally.

Re: X32 Discussion

It would if the bolts manage to go in deeper, enough to possibly hose the main board or something...

Might want to think about just screwing down a couple strips to raise the console up, and use a forstner bit on those strips to get some "flat bottom holes", centered up where the feet could just drop into the holes a bit, enough to lock it in place.

Unless you want to risk it and make it REALLY hard to ever remove the console.

(" flat bottom holes, you make my rockin' world go round...") - or something like that...

Re: Aux Ins to P16m?

I use the aux ins for keyboards and a Korg Wavedrum in our rehearsal room and now want to find a way to send the aux-ins to the P16m, possibly without adding subgroups.

Is there a way to do this?

Thank you very much!

Re: Aux Ins to P16m?

Hm.
Must have overlooked the entry while scrolling down the list on the mixer.
It's there in the new X32-Edit but I downloaded that after packing up the mixer, yesterday.
Have the DirOut Aux X been there before the new firmware?
I just got the P16m yesterday.

Thank you very much!

Just select auxs under the p16 routing?

I know. I just did a complete port fwd from the external static i_p address to the internal static i_p address. So it is forwarding all ports
