X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Discussion

For last nights show we created 20 scenes and then put them in the cue list to be able to sequence through for the various artists. When we went to do mic checks we found there were some changes that needed to be made that needed to be saved in every one of the scenes. Short of loading everything and making that change 20 times I saved that change in a snippet. Then added that snippet to the cue. This worked until I had to make another global change. It appears that the cue can only take one scene and one snippet per cue. So what is the best way to accomplish this?

Compatibility

Can I assume that...

(1) The current X32-Q (1.2.0) will work with Firmware v2.04 (I might upgrade the desk but I need X32-Q to work)
(2) The new X32-Mix (v2.2) works with Firmware v1.15 (my iPad has probably updated itself but I might *not* upgrade the desk)

Thanks

From the way I read Jan's post, the new X32-mix is NOT backwards compatible. My iPad updated automatically as well. I'll find out tonight.

If the X32 GUI doesn't allow you to create a single snippet that addresses what you need accomplished you could cheat a bit. Export the two snippets to a computer and using a text editor, just combine the meaningful content into a new snippet. Import that new one back into your X32 and you are good to go. I find that text editing of the snippets makes them unlimited in power and flexibility. It just requires the clumsy import/export approach to make it happen.

Just tested both:
(1) yes it will connect and i could do some changes but I haven't done further tests.
(2) no, definitly no.
I have used an iPad 2 with latest iOS installed.

Re: X32 Discussion

5/32 = .1562, which is between M4.5 and M5. As 4.5 is rare, I expect it's an M4 or M5. Best take one to the hardware store to match it.

You can check for obstacles to an overly long screw (such as a PCB or other breakable item) by carefully inserting a stiff wire into the hole.

Re: X32 Discussion

First gig tonight with the new firmware... Again I notice what seems to be a bug. Assignable button 4 was by default set to "Time" for the "Stereo Delay" FX, but the button wouldn't flash until I reassigned it, and switched it back. It's a similair behavior to the RTA display I experienced when viewing an FX slots EQ section. (RTA didn't present until I switched pre to post).

Am I the only one seeing this? Anyone else?

I'll check in about 2 hours when I get to my rig

Was it not feasible to create a new snippet which contained both sets of changes, and then use that in the cue list instead? I agree it would have been great to be able to apply multiple snippets to a cue, but you can imagine it could become quite messy in terms of the order in which they're then auctioned when the cue is loaded.

Importing Show from X32edit

I see that I can send changes I make via x32edit to the console and vice versa. I can create scenes in X32edit and export them to USb and then import them into the console. However I see no way to load the scenes into the console (so that it populates the scenes page) from x32edit. Am I missing something? This seems like a hole.

If you set everything how you like it in X32 Edit, then as an alternative to exporting it to USB and then importing it on the desk, you can use the synchronise option in X32 Edit - that'll send over all the scenes, cues, etc.

Unless I've misunderstood what you mean..?

In xedit there are two scene pages one for x edit and one for the console. If after setting up a scene on xedit if you save it to a slot on the console scene page* then it will be loaded onto the console. You need to be connected to the console to do it.

The xedit scene page is fo setting up scenes off-line - loading them onto a usb stick and then onto the consoe.

BTW you can also load a scene from the xedit scene page but does not appear on the console in a slot - you would need to then resave it as the current scene to a new slot.

* on some PC's ( one of mine) trying to save a scene in xedit to the console causes the connection to be lost - from other posts I understand this has not been fixed in v2.04!.

X-32 Mix Bug

I've noticed with the last few versions (and still with the latest) that when you mute the MainC channel on the mix-main screen that its virtual meter bridge on the x-32 mix doesn't indicate input - unmute again and all is fine. This seems to work for Matrix 1-6 and Main out metres when muted. Can someone else give it a go and confirm or am I missing something obvious!?! Cheers in advance.

Two Weird Bugs in X32edit

Hey Behringer team: Found two oddities in X32edit with 2.04.

1) connected to x32 remotely over a VPN. I successfully connected with no issues. Was able to see the board being controlled and also control board. Also was able to load scenes etc. However on both the snippets page and the scenes page in x32edit, when I clicked on the CONSOLE button, they were blank. The CUES tab was populated with whats on the board minus the scene names. I had someone who was in the house confirm that the board entries were not blank. I tried the same thing with an x32rack in the same remote network as the x32 and it was fine. I have not been at the site to try the same thing while physically on the network.

2) Had a board configuration with channels 14-16 empty (no name and black scribble strip) but channels 17-32 populated. When I click from 1-16 layer to the 17-32 layer and then back to the 1-16 layer, the names for channels 31-32 stay visible in channels 15-16 slots. (they are only visible on the fader, not when I click on the channel and go to the scribble strip.) To clear the erroneous entry I have to click on the AUX/FX layer and then back to the 1-16 and it clears.

Nick that's a great summary. I was aware of all of those. Specifically I was trying to be able to backup a board and all the scenes remotely using x32edit the same way I can using a USb stick on the console (i.e. EXPORT SHOW on the HOME/CUE tab (after hitting UTILITY)). Also if I created a bunch of scenes at home using the x32edit, I wanted to remotely push them to the console (NOT load them, just import them in bulk and have them store in the console.) That option is not available. I can load the scene one at a time and them store it on the console but not IMPORT SHOW from the x32edit and have it populate all the scenes and snippets the way it does from USB locally.
