this one is easy select the view button of the solo section of the X32 than u can see the options listed choose solo folow select

on the yamaha ls 9 u can set select folows fader that means if u touch a fader it automatic gets selected to set this up click 2 times on setup and u see fader asing on right upper corner of the screen set it to on

Hi there
trying to work out the correct gain structure on input channels. Normally I would PFL and set the meter at about -6. But that dosen't appear to be correct on the x32. Am I completely mistaken, because I am completely confused, so enlightenment from those with actually hands on experience with the x32 would be greatly appreciated!

Digital mixers *typically* (there are a couple of exceptions) read in DBFS, or "dB full scale." What that means is "0" is Full Tilt Boogie, there is no more. You are out of Ones and digital clipping is imminent.

PFL your inputs to peak at -18. With 24 bit word lengths it is no longer necessary to use every available bit to remain above the digital noise floor; in fact the digital noise floor is often below that of the analog circuits ahead of the AD or after the DA converters.

Hi again!

Only a fews minutes after posting that i have problems with my mixbus mute button, Uli sent me a pm that i should come to the german office nearby an that the german guys will fix it.
Today they changed the button in a few minutes and checked my console! Respect..

Btw..They also updated my board to 1.08 which will be released in a few hours!

Great thanks to Uli and the german team for the fast, individual and flawless support!

well, thanks to this thread and others, i've gone ahead and ordered up a couple of these little beasties. our church is at a point where we can't wait any longer to change out our analog FOH, but we really can't afford any of the 'real' options out there. the ability to replace an ML5000 with something digital, lose no capabilities, and spend less than 6 grand was just too tempting to pass up. plus, if our balance sheet gets a little more healthy, i can always move these to monitors and get something more sexy.

our service currently uses about 48 inputs, so for now we're gonna just use one console as a band sub mixer and bring it into the other as a stereo pair. simple, and hopefully effective. honestly, i'm also using 2 so that we have some recourse if one of them dies. we can cram our service into 32 inputs in a pinch....

anyway, i'll continue to troll here for more insight. and if i have any to add, i'll... well... add... :)

Right Angled XLR

Another note...

Neutrik makes XLR connectors that have several rotation options. (For a talkback cable.)

It would be nice to have the ability to source the talkback mic from 1-32.

new features:
- sends on fader on a specific channel or bus can be assigned to user assignable buttons
- scenes can be assigned to user assignable buttons
- holding down a select button and pressing UTILITY now directly accesses the naming screen
- solo option 'Dim PFL' allows to apply DIM to PFL sources (to align levels when using as monitor console)

Hi all,

Installed fimware 1.08. Works a treat! Especially the ability to assign the Mix busses to the buttons.

In remote mode, with everything working fine with cubase 5.1, I tried to assign loop from the remote section to an assignable button. Button assigned and activated, cubase doesn't loop. Anyone have the same experience?

PS This button works fine with other assignments

I'd like the talkback mic cable to come out the back, and we have the extra channels.

Ours is a fixed install (most of the time), but we travel enough to justify having a case. The board is in its case all the time. But, we cover it when not in use.

The board case was designed so the top can be put on, but the cables don't have to be taken out. (The dolly board clips on, which covers the hole, and provides wheels.)

The case was also designed with a built-in power cable that supplies power to the board, and another light. The top won't go on with the main power cable attached.

Anything that sticks up from the board (USB stick or talkback mic cable) hits the top of the case, and has to be removed. I don't want an accident to happen, where one of those is left connected.

I would assume, too, if the talkback mic could be sourced from channels 1-32, that it would come straight after the channel AD, and that the channel would feed itself, and the talkback section.

If the channel remained active, too, it would also provide a means to test and experiment with effects, routing, EQ, etc, without having to move the talkback cable to a channel.

Don't even know if it's physically possible. I know how the talkback source is presented in the UI, but that doesn't mean it's actually part of the same input structure.

As an aside, I wasn't suggesting that we lose the top XLR as a source, too.

I'm sure Behringer has more important firmware changes to work on. I just thought I would toss the idea out there.

Dear Rob,

Thank you for the additional comments. Just to clarify, The LCD scribble strips are all tested and approved for use in the X32 based on their specified performance. There are two adjustments that can be made to the LCD displays that will affect their visibility. The first is Contrast, which adjusts the relative difference between the active and inactive segments of the display. Contrast adjustments may be required to achieve the best visibility, especially for off-axis viewing. The other adjustment is Brightness which also affects the intensity of the active segments of the display, making the graphics more visible. Since the two settings work together both may need to be adjusted for optimal results However since each LCD glass and the corresponding backlight LED have tolerances, it is unavoidable that in extreme settings there will be differences in color, contrast and brightness. Please note that goes for all displays of this kind and again is perfectly normal to have a variance between displays.

Do you consider the brightness and contrast settings listed below to be "extreme?" Also, do you believe that the appearance of the strips (in a console with only several dozen operational hours) to be acceptable?
