X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Feature Requests

I totally agree. Any auto feedback detection unit I've ever used has been utterly useless. I'm always able to solve the issue myself with a 31 band. I do severely want the analyzer so it takes the guess work out a little.

As usual, it depends......

It depends on your expectations and the way you apply the device.

I have routinely used units from the Behringer FBX1100's to the Sabine Graphi-Q's with the "auto-set" parametric filters. Some user tweaking is either required or desired to finalize things, but there is a good deal of efficacy to the "feedback detection" circuits available.

The bottom line is to use them for what they are capable of doing and not expect them to be a "miracle cure" and to do all the work for you. I regard them as parametric EQ's with automatic setting of the filters. But this function yields nothing more than a quick and easy, automated STARTING POINT.

If you're wanting something to ride herd on the spectrum while the show's going, the GraphiQ is the only one I have used that I'm comfortable with.

Interesting Scribble Strip Issue!

Hi all,

I just found an issue on my X32 that's really weird. On the 3rd layer where the Auxes and FX returns are, one of the scribble strips is "black". It's the one for Aux 5. Obviously, I checked the scribble strip settings for that channel and it is set to Green and has an icon and text set also. What's really weird is that exact scribble strip works fine on the other layers! I'm able to set different colors, icons, etc and I have no problem with it at all. I had an idea to point my flashlight at the scribble strip while it was blacked out (3rd layer), and interestingly, I found that an "x" character is displaying on the screen. Also, when I switch layers really fast, I can see the ghost image of the "x" display momentarily on the other layers. Note that all of the other channels & scribble strips work just fine. I'd take a video and/or pictures but I have it at church right now.

The way I figure it is that if it was a scribble strip issue, it would work or not work. What do you guys think? This sounds like a possible software glitch?

Please chime in.

Thanks,
Paul

Re: X32 Feature Requests

I'd like to see an option for the pick off point for the monitor mixes to be pre-gate. As is we can get pre fader, pre EQ, and pre compressor, but not pre gate.

I don't want the musicians aware of these gates opening and closing.

Yep!! As I mentioned before I think this is a must have update. I don't like gates on monitors.

and while we're at it, make compressor and eq switchable per/post as well. As is it now, compression is lumped in with "EQ"

I really hope Behringer fixes this.

I get it that some will want channel EQ going to the monitors, some won't. But to lump the channel strip EQ and the comps together as far as pre/post makes no sense. At least lump all the the dynamics (gates and comps) together and let us decide pre or post.

Digital should give us all the options to work as we see fit.

Re: X32 Feature Requests

I'm very sorry for jumping in the middle of things but I would like to thank all the people that helped me with my Reaper tracking issues. I finally got the X32 and Reaper working well together. And a great big "thank you so much" to Steve Maksim for hanging in there we me. Have a great Super Bowl Sunday!

Cheers,

myfirst X32 had a similar issue. Seems that the red LED of the tricolor LEDs that color the scribble strip was out. So it would display colors that didn't include red just fine, like blue or green. But purple came out as blue and red came out as black.

i just mention this so you can make sure that the scribble strip really does work correctly on the other layers and isn't just set to another color other than green.

also, I think if a channel has no input sourced to it, it will black out as well. Just something else to check...

Share with us - What was the problem?

Reaper

Just for the record I tried downloading Reaper for the hell of it, and had it multi-tracking with the x32 in about 2 minutes. Clean audio. I was fairly surprised since others have seemed to have an issue with it. But that's how technology is. Theres so many variables involved it's easy for things to be difficult for anyone.

Re: X32 Feature Requests

Today I am reaching out to you as we are in the process of defining the specifications for the new 2.0 software upgrade that we plan to roll out later this year. We would like to get your feedback to understand what features you like to see in the new upgrade.

There are only two things that I am missing:

1) Ability to toggle the mute group functionality to something that mirrors how our analog board works (doesn't reset the individual channel mutes but just "lays over" the top of them)
2) Scene protection/user profiles for what settings can be edited

Re: X32 Feature Requests

There also needs to be a way of seeing which mutes are due to a group and which are the individual channel mute.

I just had a thought - why couldn't the mute switches for channels muted by a mute group pulse brighter?? I'm thinking a fast pulse, almost a strobe. If you wanted to get real geeky, the number of pulses match the highest (or lowest) mute group if multiple mute groups are affecting one channel. Not to overthink things 8O~8-O~

Re: X32 Feature Requests

Some more requests:

Full MIDI-control. Being able to control the X-32 from a sequenser
MIDI tap delay. X-32 reading MIDI-clock.
MP3 player via USB

My customers use their mixers without any technician and needs to do minor changes via MIDI. Programchange is not optimal because a normal gig is about 4 hours.

Re: X32 Feature Requests

About that new Feature Request.
I have noticed that with the firmware upgrade to 1.12 the Dual Pitch Effect went away, or I am just not looking hard enough.
Either way. Wouldn't it be cool to implement a TC-Helicon Style Harmonizer

... Dieter ...

Re: midi / dmx control

For smaller gigs I would like to use for instance the AUX / FX layer to control some DMX lighting.
For me that would be possible if these faders can output midi data over USB.
I'm able to get these midi data, into martin lightjockey. But I'm sure more software packages can do this.

(And off course the mute group behaviour to function as the analog style, I simply do not use it this current way, to tricky for me. I also like that manual mutes allways stay on!)
