New Midas M32 Console

Re: New Midas M32 Console

That's the same deal my supplier had for me. Wanted me to put down money for the desk and $300 more for freight. He didn't know when they would arrive but that 10 were on the way and he had 7 spoken for. One week later he was told only 5 would be shipped. Now i am told third week of August they would get a second shipment. If I wanted one of those i would need to pre pay. It is still not known if the DL-16 will ship with the desk's...
Not a smart business decision in my mind. My season drys up in November and stays dead until the middle of February. Looks like i will be waiting until then. I may sound like i gave up but knowing my future gig's and the time line of Midas, I am waiting. Sam,,, I hope yours arrives and you will rub it in hard. Cheers Mate...

Nope, don't think expansion cards will be relabelled. It's only an expansion card anyway and will save money only having to produce one style of back plate.

Re: New Midas M32 Console

All they are made at the same factory in China. What if it was Klark Teknik badge? Any complaints?

So I guess from what you and Daniel have said, and what Music Group have done, the line between Midas & Behringer is now very blurred indeed.

May be I'm wrong, but I can't see how that's going help ProX sales(?)

Bottom line your always going to get haters. The words build a bridge and get over it midas belongs to music group they still make the awesome pro series. These things happen and unfortunatly we cannot do anything about it.
yes the cards are the same but hey there still gonna spit dante, madi and optical out

Ha ... I own Pro series, and I think the X32 is a great little desk. I have recommended it to many people, it works, it sounds good and has been reliable. I also don't have a problem with the M32 ... PROVIDED that in the process of promoting it, Music Group ensures the value and respect for the Pro range remains.

They are not doing that IMO. In my market a Behringer DI is frowned upon (and they work just fine), so sticking Behringer bits in a Midas .... NO ... just no ... never

Dear all,

The cards for M32 will be supplied under KLARK TEKNIK.

We expect to roll out the DL16 as well as all cards within the next 4-6 weeks.

Sticking B Bits In A Midas??? OH HELL NO. That will make me turn my head. It matters a great deal to me that when I purchase a Midas desk its a Midas desk, period.... The X-32 has its place with people and have nothing bad to say about those who own and operate the product, I'm interested in a M-32 built by Midas or KT, not third party anything...
The Behringer DI used on a Midas desk is "Sticking B Bits on a Midas" . This wait is educating me more and more, and I don't like what I am learning. My Pro-2 is starting to lighter every day. :-)
I really don't like the negativity I am putting out on this forum. I sure do hope it changes soon.

SAM, any up dates on yours?

Seriously, Mike, what did you think this was, a wholly new device with separate production lines, component sourcing, engineering, and 100% different design from the Behringer mixer that looks a whole fucking lot like it?

Get used to it, get over it. This is how Music Group (and any other vertically integrated manufacturing company) rolls.

You are correct of course; the issue however is about perceptions.

A Behringer ProX is never going to stroke any engineer’s ego. Most people buy Pro consoles based on perception and /or to meet riders. If Midas is seen as synonymous with Behringer, its rider status will diminish. The MI world is different; you only have to satisfy yourself and the audience don’t care what brand you use.

Most people were happy to buy Midas because Uli seemed to be leaving it alone. He had used the synergies that Music Group could bring to lower its cost and it was starting to get some rider traction. Some people got upset when he lowered the price because it devalued their existing investment particularly at Musikmesse, but most were happy.

To me it’s madness to put Behringer badged M32/X32 bits on Midas’s web site. Given that Music Group owns KT, put KT on it (as Chase stated) but until you have done that, don’t put it on your web site. It was also madness to just repaint the Behringer stage box; all they needed to do was make it look like a Midas.

When people look inside, they would see that it’s got a better chipset … and the M32 does really have Midas faders in it. If they had done that everyone would have been happy, the M32 would be seen as a cheap Midas and the status of the Pro range would be preserved without question.

While Uli has a magnificent understanding of the MI market, I don’t think he has any understanding of the Pro world … or he has no interest in it. He is however still in a perfect position to own a large segment of the Pro and MI world if he gets it right … for my sake I hope he does.

It's obvious: sharing R&D and manufacturing leads to lower production costs, meaning lower prices for Pro line. Good thing is that Uli lowered the prices instead of just pocketing all extra profit. It doesn't make MIDAS desks any worse than they were, and lower prices only means better deal, not lesser quality. Will it make you feel better if that expansion card will have "M" stamp on it, instead of "B"?

Those with severe "B-fobia" who reject everything that has a B stamp on it (or even remotely associated with Behringer), may go further, like boycot Lexus cars because they have "Toyota" stamped all over them, from windows to engine parts. Or Mercedes, because the same logo appears on cargo vans, big diesel trucks, SETRA buses, etc.etc. What it has to do with quality of Mercedes luxury cars?

Behringer plays marketing game very well, and so far its entire line, from X32 to Pro X seems to be positioned properly, not to undermine each other and cut into others' pie, primarily Yamaha QL and CL. I don't quite agree with Sam, "...midas belongs to music group they still make the awesome pro series. These things happen and unfortunatly we cannot do anything about it." -- why we even have to do anything? They keep making great decks and lowering prices, thanks for that.
