Myself also. I requested it earlier in the thread and others agreed. This is very much the sort of thing that can be implemented in software and as such I don't think it is an unreasonable request. Unlike features like EQ on FX and similar which I very much suspect are limited by hardware/processing.

Hi there everyone.
We got a x32 down in little New Zealand last week. Got it friday morning, on shows fri/sat. Firstly, this is a true winner of a console. It sounds great, has a huge number of in/out options and is EASY to get it up and happening quick. Rave reviews from all who used it.
We have just one little issue, I'm hoping someone can chime in with an idea, we seem to (at odd random times) get a bit of noise on the left master buss. This is only apparant sometimes when you are hunting for it. It's like a clippy sorta noise, kinda like a really bad solder join sounds like. It's on the USB two track recording aswell.
Once we got it back in we discovered firmware was 1.02, this has now gone up to 1.09.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, might be a case of opening the hood and reseating a cable?

Who normalizes tracks? If I am getting raw tracks to mix I don't want someone else to pre determine levels for me. Probably the same people that defrag audio Harddrives.

gain range is from -12db to +60db

I don't usually normalize tracks, but I prefer to have finished backing mixes normalized to a predictable level when they are being played back from a stick. And since max trim of -12 dB leaves the track still very hot if you've got a close to 0 dB file on the stick, with cliplight flashing and having to keep the fader well below zero, I find it better to just do a -6 dB normalization of everything that goes on the stick to have a consistent starting point.
Normalizing takes only seconds, and if someone gives me an MP3, conversion has to happen anyway.
Defragging audio drives? Maybe not, but an occasional dumping and complete formatting is definitely a good idea.
Normalizing raw tracks? Sometimes there will be a weak track that could do with being bumped a couple or more bits to get it into a range where there is enough gain in the daw without having to go thru' a gain plugin.

You appear to be right on on both items. Does anyone know if these cables are readilly available? or who may make them up, cost and so forth?

Yes I agree a button would be great for a and then b select, and no the comment was not directed at you... It was my bad attempt at humour, it's a computer tech guy term to describe idiot if said idiot was within earshot. I was speaking more to earlier posters who took the time to get on Sf.net and post " a bug" when it fact it was a patch issue. I would hope that you would exhaust all avenues before running here let alone "report a bug".

I'd like to group channels, for example 4 toms or all metal elements of kit over two busses panning within, inserting un-linked compressors on the two busses set equally (I know this parts possible). I guess I'm just thinking in analogue terms, group to 1&2 and not the main mix and panning is a simple as 123.

link bus 1+2 - set them to subgroup - route channels to bus 1+2 - take them off LR - route bus 1+2 to LR - do the panning in the channels with the normal panner in the channelstrip or on the main-tab - untick dynamics link in the setup/global-tab.

Great! Will take a look later! Looks like to enable panning within bus 1&2 I have to link them for the channel panner to be enabled? That's what I'm after!

Try Altomusic, in NY.
Got mine for $2480 shipped.
A real bargain price. I've dealt with these guys several times and never been disappointed.

Thanks a ton John. I will have to be at my mix station to really hear the detail in the .wav file, but on earbuds here at work via the stock crap card in my Dell, I can at least tell this is the kind of thing I was looking for to help me make my decision.

Wondered if I should have gone with this as opposed to having the Thomann one ship from Germany. For £180 it's adequate and handle positions are good but 7mm is too thin IMHO

Yes a bit more expensive at a little over £300 but I wanted the dogbox and wheels etc. Plenty of padding and a really good fit with cut outs etc for air flow. Well worth the extra IMHO

OK so here is my next question to you recording types. I often end up overdubbing to the tune of 26-30 tracks.
For examples sake, let me present the following scenario. Let’s say I am working on a song that will have 32 total tracks to be mixed down. Being that I/O is assigned in 8 channel blocks, how would I set up the X32 routing so that I could record overdubs and still hear the playback once I got above 24 tracks? I know I could subgroup in my DAW and just route to the first 24 of the X32, but that is a minor pain in the butt having to go back and re-route the X32 and the outputs of the DAW. Just wondering if I was missing something to where I could assign the some of the pre-amps to the Auxs for input into the daw, and then use 1-32 as returns from the card for mixdown without having to re-route anything while I work. If I can do this, I may be happy indeed.
