X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Discussion

POE could possibly create havoc, but the standards are designed in such a way that the power is similar to phantom power on a mike and shouldn't do any damage if cables are ok.
Apart from stray POE, there shouldn't be any risk at all, especially if the standards are followed in the design of the aes interface.
I still wouldn't knowingly plug a POE supplying device into it though even if I thought it was safe.
I'm not sure what kind of voltage is on the Ultranet cable out of a P16 distribution box, but I would imagine the pin-assignments and voltages would be safe.
Tnx. I hope that Behringer can confirm.

So we can assume that the p16 is using some kind of PoE?

Re: X32 Discussion

This evening I post you the link of a mix which I made fast, since Reaper on and with X32 only, Reaper thus serves me only as tape ... The mix is captured in USB Main L/R

Http: // soundcloud.com/dinnisisis/so-lonely-by-covercast-mix-x32

Good listening and good evening to all,

Denis.

P.S: the laziness to redo, I badly adjusted my latency on my laptop, where from some crackles and at the compression of Snare, the attack is one too slow party of the blow I have some passing which pass....

Hi Robert,

I am trying to find the original post that you are referencing to.

Yes I can confirm that the P16 is using our ULTRANET connection that is providing power over ethernet, as long as it is a direct connection to the P16D, or in an analog setup via the P16I. If you use the port on the X32, S16 or the Thru port on the P16M, to feed additional P16M mixers, you need to plug the additional P16M mixers using the included wallwart. I think it is much better to use the P16D that powers 8 P16Ms, and makes for a cleaner setup.

Let me know if this answers the question.

Answer: Sorry to hear of this issue, we will immediately take care of this for you. Our repair facility has contacted you via PM for immediate action.
Answer: I will request this with our development team, and see if it can be implemented.
Answer: I will request this as a dedicated FX.
Answer: I will look into implementing MIDI tempo for the delays.
Answer: Will forward the request to the development team.

Does it get any better than this?

Please check post #2375.

Problems raising....:(~:-(~

Console SN° S1203404ASF
-This console has a "reboot" issue. It happened 5 times, while console was left alone, without touching it.
-Heavy "numeric" buzz on headphones.
-When arrived, 4 sliders were "shaking"...the problem disappeared after one hour of use.
This console is going back to the reseller - Thomann - by UPS tomorrow.

As we needed a console, we brought another x32...arrived this morning :
Console SN°S1203600ASF
- 4th bus slider is going up, but doesn't go down.
- "wizzzzzzzz" noise in various sliders (not all the time).
I asked Thomann if it was possible to open the console, as a contact failure may cause that, but they sait that it would void warranty, so, it will go back to Thomann too.

Have you experienced this kind of problems ?

I remember Mr Uli saying that the failure percentage of their products was like 0,7%... from here, it's much more and I'm seriously afraid for the reliability of this console.

As you all know, reliability is an absolute condition for pro use, and even if a failure is always possible with any console, Behringer should improve quality check.
You can imagine my disappointment.

This and a few others makes me nervous I've grown up with the saying dont buy the first model car ! I have never had a complete failure during a show. We just bought one and are using it Friday, it's also our first digital console. We are talking about buying a second I think we may hold off for a bit . I will say seeing the b guys on here responding and takin input is really great !

Re: X32 Discussion

G'day,

I want to use the AES/EBU output into my RME 9652 card which has an RCA connector for it's digital input (SPDIF or AES/EBU)
Question : Can I just wire Pin 2 of the 3 pin AES/EBU output to the center of the RCA, and pin 1 to the shield.... or (if not) how do i make the connection?
Thanks
Pauly

Dear Pauly,

Yes, you can do this. For the best results, you should use coax cable rather then a regular analog XLR-RCA cable. In fact there is also a difference between the XLR AES/EBU and the RCA S/PDIF connection as far as the impedance. The XLR AES/EBU connection is 110 ohm and the RCA S/PDIF is 75 ohm. There are specific cables available for sale for this application, which includes a small resistor to change the impedance. Other then that the AES/EBU and the S/PDIF are compatible.

Thanks Chris - Guess I'll go buy some resistors :-)

Re: X32 Discussion

I routinely run 24 channels of WDM via my MOTU and Sonar X2. Not sure what you are speaking of here.

Sadly Cakewalk seems to default to that driver.

If I could use the Asio driver fully ( all 32 channels) I'd be happy

There does not even seem to be a WDM option its WDMKP or something similar.

wow. bummer. i ordered two and took delivery of them about 3 weeks ago. put them into service last week. aside from one intermittent red backlight LED on one scribble strip, my two have been perfect. After a little consideration i decided to just ignore the red LED issue since it really affects nothing in my particular application. All in all, i've been extremely impressed with this product. I'm sorry you've had a different experience.

Re: X32 Discussion

Same here.
If you go to the windows audio mixer panel (the small speaker icon) and select 'playback devices' and 'recording devices'. How many WDM's are listed in these views?

In all systems that I've seen there has never been more than eight channels per physical device. Even my StudioLive only provides eight channels of wdm (configurable to any of the 24 channels).
