Re: Tap Delay question.

From the man who carries the Enterprise Bridge around in a briefcase!!!...)
I can't do that for many gigs I have but still don't understand why the 2 consoles act differently concerning the tap function.

Nah, gone down to two at a gig, sometimes none. That has been sufficient, and is actually quite nice for doing the kind of thing you want to do -- multiple things at once. The Monoprice stands make the assemblage very compact in use.

Don't know about the console differences.

Rereading your earlier post, what Antoon (and everyone else who read it) was confused about was

"My X 32 does the average of last 10 with a waiting time until you. An re-tap....this is a real PITA on the iPad app."

The part between "you" and "this" is an English that even a native speaker doesn't understand.

And in case "PITA" doesn't translate across languages, it's "Pain In The Ass", and not a kind of bread.

I've done my good deed today....

Re: X32 Rack as a Soundcard interface....for an ekit....

This isn't for recording guys, it's for LIVE use, using the x32 rack as the bands mixer, and I'm thinking of using the soundcard as the source to drive addictive drummer.
is it possible ?

I should have been more clear in my earlier post and should have asked a question first...

Do you plan to use some sort of midi drum trigger setup to essentially play the vst drums live or are you thinking in terms of having pre-recorded midi tracks that you'll use to run the drums?

If you plan on playing them live it may depend on how low a latency your PC gives you on outbound audio. I'm assuming here that you would be connecting a drum trigger pad system directly to the PC. You would play the trigger pads and then route the VST drum's audio out of the PC and over to the console. In this case you're going to have a very tiny latency between the trigger pad system and the VST (probably small enough that it wont matter). The latency between the VST and the console is the real question mark. For me at least, if I'm trying to play along with something, latencies around 6 ms are noticeable but not unusable. Once they get up into the 10ms range thats enough to mess with me rhythmically.

If you were thinking in terms of using pre-recorded midi tracks, played back either from a daw or via the VST itself (I run BFD2, it will run as a standalone VST and you can load and play back pre-recorded midi tracks into it just like a daw) then the outbound latency wont really have any effect on you.

On my system, Cubase reports an outbound latency of a little over 5 ms when connected to the x32 via firewire and having the buffer settings in the x32 FW driver set to minimum's.

Hope this helps.

Re: Mondo delay due to Imag Sync

What graphic switcher are you using that has that much latency?

They are using a Tricaster, Yes I delayed they entire PA mains and all zones on Tues when I first posted. Rethinking this as I have another gig with the same AV provider tonight in Central Park in a tent thats 70 feet deep they are asking me to do the same, and I did but realized I could just delay the podium mics and VT returns as opposed to the entire PA because in the last venue when Pizzarelli went on it wasn't as noticeable. However, when the band came to do soundcheck tonight and the drummer hit the kick drum I instantly removed the delay as it was very apparent that something wasnt right. At this point I am going to stick with the entire PA and zone delay as we are checked and just remove the delay before the band goes on. But next time I will implement the individual channel delay. Yes I mentioned to them that something isn't right as I've done shows with companies with Tricasters and never had to use that much delay but they are going with it nun the less and maybe they will try to address whats up when they get their gear back to the shop. But more likely they wont and I will have to revisit this scenario again.

Re: Mondo delay due to Imag Sync

That's really astonishing! Something has to be wrong in their world, but what is an A1 or 2 going to do about it?

Nice that you have built in capability to deal with it.

How cool it is that these consoles have the capability to dial in the needed delay.

You're able to set up a Scene to add and then subtract the delay when you're not using the Imag?? Otherwise the talent would be screwed up, right?

And if you get a chance, say "hi" to John from Frank Laico's widow Colette. She is doing well at 93. I'll tell her he's at the Waldorf. Frank was a recording engineer for CBS Records who worked with his father Bucky, and knew and possibly worked with John, too.

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,

Sorry I was stuck at foh and couldn't get to the talent, That room is so reverberant and deep that I was able to pull it off delay wise although it was apparent to me. Tonight is totally different.

Re: Mondo delay due to Imag Sync

One Day Sale on Compact:

It seems Sweetwater, Musician's Friend, and GC are having a one day sale on the X32 Compact for 1699.99. I'm picking one up tonight.

New X32 Core rig is on the way.....

When a buddy of mine agreed to purchase my (pristine) X32 earlier today, I quickly ordered up the next-gen of my mobile recording rig:

-X32 Core
-S16 (x2)
-CAT5e (50' & 2', just to get started)
-Gator 2U Rack Bag (for the Core and a surge strip)

This shrinks the footprint of my rig considerably, yet sacrifices nothing (hey, the only thing I need to adjust are the pres, after all!). Plus, gives me the ability to have my "listening station" up to 300' away from the inputs/split. As I listen thru the shows that have been multi-tracked thru the X32, I am constantly amazed at the quality:price ratio. I've prided myself on the ability to have "a 32-track studio in the trunk of my Jetta" - may sound a bit funny, but when I think that 10 or 15 years ago, this would have taken a TRUCK full of gear and tens (hundreds?) of thousands of dollars. For a hobbyist like me, this is a dream come true. THANK YOU BEHRINGER for allowing me to buy some nice kit at a killer price so I can "give a little back to the music that's given so much to me".

And, thanks to all the folks on this thread, which I've been following since the 2nd page of posts!!! Your cumulative experience, candor and willingness to share is incredible.

Sorry to sound all giddy :-)

Re: Mondo delay due to Imag Sync

I dont believe it is a once day sale. My understanding is that it is a price adjustment for that product.

And yet the American (North American?) distributor has removed it entirely from availability.

If it's gone, I'm not surprised, as the X32 is small enough itself that reducing features a lot and price and size a little are not interesting to me enough to buy any (or the Producer, for that matter). Those two products are not different enough to tempt me as an X32 owner; the Core and Rack and anything similar are another ball game, though. Those will be immensely useful to an already-X32 owner/user.

Which is why it is mildly aggravating that the sole American (North American?) distributor has and has continuously had 0 Cores in stock and a grand total of 63 incoming at some indefinite future date, and 0 Racks in stock and 262 incoming on that same indefinite date.

If you're right that's interesting, too, as they have been able to determine already the lack of market for that product at the previous price. That's good for the folks for whom the product is the right one.
