X32 Discussion

Re: X32 MIDI capabilities

I have a BCF2000 and have played with it with the X32. Can you please explain what the MC_C mode is and how to set it up and how are you wiring it up? And what needs to be checked (set up) on the X32 to make this all work?

I just looked thru the user manual and I don’t see any mention of what MC_C is. I do see MMC Midi Machine Control but I don’t think that is what you are talking about.
It is the mackie control emulation mode. That was introduced in some later firmware of the bcf2000. There is an addendum somwhere...

X32 fader position info

Hello from Finland

Seems I have been barking around wrong tree, banging my head against wall, pissing in my pants, whatever.

I wrote about this earlier but made mistake and was asking how to use MIDI - should have been OSC - or whatever else might work

Inspired by the video of Kevin Hunter in YouTube, where he controls a scanner with four channels of X32 - very nice.

I have this idea of controlling a heap of DMX lights with just one fader.

My situation is, that I work alone - have small PA-rig with X32R - control it wit iPad and have laptop on amprack as safety mixer, in case iPad/wifi goes haywire.
I also have some dmx-LED-PAR cans, which usually are set in fixed colour or maybe some of them react to sound.

I would like to set one fader of X32R - perhaps VCA8 - to be outputted via "your suggestion here" from X32R into the laptop and have 128 presets in a light program. Dimmest situation on fader down with increasing light density and variations towards fader top - laptop would then output info via USB/DMX-converter into lights.

So - between songs I could move VCA8 a bit in some direction to change preset - perhaps even move it up & down in tempo to create "wild stuff" towards end of night - finally pull fader down for blackout.

So far nobody has been able to tell me how this can be done - while Kevin has done it in youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1cAqEBzCY4

Now what I need to accomplish this - is something ready to load into my computer with instructions and info of what to set up in my X32R

Instructions and info of how to set up my X32R to get control-information of fader of my choice is actually all I need from you - there are some light-jockeys to help me with laptop and light-control-program.

NO "computer-geek"-stuff - more likely "easy-go for dummies"

Naturally all this with limited budget...

Thank you for reading

Re: X32 fader position info

@Timo
Some dmx fixtures have preset programs that you can choose from by sending the preset number to its dmx address. This means that a fader that send its values to this address will select different patches.

Hello

That is exactly what I have been trying to do - the major question is "How to get that signal out of X32R using iPad over WiFi?"

Next best option, which I have not even tried, would be to use something like "Run the show DMX" in iPad and connect third ethernet cable into my router - connect that cable into something that converts it into DMX
Between songs I could sweep sideways on iPad to change program, select new preset ( they are very easy to program and have fade in/out adjustable ), sweep back into X32 and keep mixing audio.

Naturally my vision of selecting new DMX-cues simply with one free fader would be faster to use and also safer as I coud stay in X32-Mix all the time.

Re: X32 Discussion

Timo: you can configure a user assignable knob to send MIDI program change commands...

Hello

No I can not use that - I have X32R - RACK!!! - which does not allow assignable controls to be used with iPad, although they can be used with X32-edit in my laptop - even if they could be used, they vere not on my VCA-faders for easy control...:(~:-(~

Per
Thank you for the link - sorry part is I don´t get any of it  - as I stated in my earlier post - I need detailled instructions for dummies - first do this, then that etc...

Simple light control with iPad

Hello

There is a solution - built-in oscillator can be adressed into a free bus - free output - so sliding DCA, that´s controlling bus level for osc will control external laptop with program for lights.

Re: X32 Discussion

Oh, come on. Please let's not make me go here again.

Nearly everything.

I've written release notes for 20 years. Those are "here are some places you should investigate to see how it works."

For 4 grand, I expect better documentation than that.

Caution!
To make this sure. This is not the official Behringer release, otherwise this would have been announced by music group representatives.
I found the download link in a facebook X32 group - so: "use at your own risk".

There is a pdf-file included with, indeed, more information. Funny btw, that the X32 is called M32 on one occasion in this file. 8O~8-O~

Re: X32 Discussion

This is the same link that is on the Behringer.com website (although it appears they forgot to prefix it with http, so I browsers think it's a relative link and it's functionally broken, at least as of last night).

I really like the new mute group behavior. I played with all sorts of combinations of a channel being in multiple mute groups and being muted by DCAs, and one or more mute groups simultaneously. It works well. (Although the flashing might get a little old. :) )

Noticed some of the other new options in the config screen, but honestly, the biggest thing I cared about was the mutes.
