X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Discussion

And another thing about the ipad app. I'm not sure if its just me or if its a real bug, but I can't change tracks in the recorder. Sometimes it will change one up or down but its very rare, and typically it just doesn't work.

The pc and android apps work fine.
Not just you, happens for me, too. I also don't get why there is only one track visible at a time on the iPad. Why can't the track display be like it is on the console?

Re: X32 Discussion

I want to be able to import snippets from the usb stick directly to the console. I would love to be able to set up a snippet on the pc, export it to a thumb drive (which does work) and then plug that thumb drive into a desk and import it directly (which does NOT work). Currently you have to have the pc synced connected to the desk to recall the snippet, then save it again on the consoles internal memory.
You can do that now. Select the snippet GUI on the console, then the Utility button, finally import (5th encoder).

Are you using the snippet GUI in X32-Edit to create the snippets? Do you need more details or granularity of what the snippets would change? Scene Parser (https://sourceforge.net/projects/x32sceneparser/) can provide that.

OK, I give up, I'm now throwing my toys out of the cot.
The only reason I own an iPad is to work the X32, I have no other use for it. I loathe Apple for many historic reasons.
The X32 app is profoundly broken and Behringer have had their fingers in their ears going NAH NAH NAH NAH for months now.
Cold someone tell me what other remote mixing platform works best (PC or Android?) and what is the most user friendly
(ie small, light and reliable) hardware?.
Thanks, Mike.

Well, unless you spend a ton on a Windows tablet, the two platforms are quite different. I have a Windows laptop and three android tablets. The Behringer app. for Windows is quite different from the 3rd party app. Mixing Station.

Can't say I have an opinion as to which is better. They're just different.

Re: X32 Discussion

The android app does a lot more things but it's at the expense of user-friendliness. The effects section for example just have some knobs to twiddle without much explanation of what they are or the units they are measured in.

I also find that there is much more menu-diving in the android app vs the ipad app. I don't like that the GEQ's are 2 button presses away no matter what. Then its 2 button presses back to get to faders.

Also Android in general has a harder time joining and "remembering" wifi networks. My ipad is way more stable than the 2 android tablets I've had. This may be better now. My androids are older units.

I find that I an happy with a combo of pc laptop and ipad together. The pc app looks just like the console and the ipad gives me "faders" that can stay available all the time.

Hey Tim,

I use both tablet apps all the time.

The big deals for me on the Android app are the custom layer, and the snipit and cue recall capabilities (custom automation in general with the Android App). Another nice feature of the android app is the longer faders when you rotate the tablet to portrait mode.

Of all this, the lack of a custom layer is the real deal killer for the iPad app for me.

I would point out that I do all my major setup on the PC app with a laptop and mouse. I also do any efx modifications there as well and rarely change either of these kinds of settings in real time from a tablet. If I did more of this, then maybe the iPad app would be more appealing.

I do hear you on the multiple taps to get to the PEQ though. It reminds me of my first impressions of the various manufacturers tablet apps. I actually thought I would prefer the scrolling faders vs the group select fader idea. Man was I wrong about that one. There is nothing like a little time under the gun with a real band to bring out the good, the bad and the ugly ;)

I think the OP was talking about GEQs. But, in Mixing Station Pro you can easily get to the PEQs with one press. (However, it does take a little real estate, as a PEQ preview will be displayed on each channel.)

Menu | Setup | App | Channel Strip
PEQ Preview - ON

On any channel/bus/etc with an EQ, just press the PEQ preview. It'll open the channel/bus/etc, and take you to the PEQ page.

You can easily get to GEQs with one press, too. Just create a button that opens the appropriate FX view. You can even have the button select "A" or "B."

The best part of Mixing Station Pro is the flexibility it offers.

Re: X32 Discussion

I second that! I got rid of the iPAD after moving to Mixing Station Pro. That app just keeps getting better and better.

Eric

Are there tap delay buttons on the delays on Mixing Station? I mix live rock and show bands and need the tap cobstantly. Last night I used 2 iPads with one for DCA and faders and the other for mainly FX and other adjustments. It was really good for my workflow.

Yes you can. With a good quality android tablet like Samsung Tab S, 10" and Mixing Station Pro, you will soon forget all about the iPad and it's unsolved issues. It does not have a big learning curve either. You would be up and flying in no time flat! When a bug is found, it's fixed nearly immediately. I think the Pro version is like $5 (can donate more) and worth every penny!

L/R output discrepancy.

Noticed a problem at my venue...thought it was an outboard problem. Set up for a play today and Right output..no matter what analog output is assigned..is muffled and low. Anything I can check for this? It shows on the main output meters as well.

Lately the customisability of Mixing Station has been taking good leaps forward. Last gig I tried the sidebar feature by first adding the tap tempo of a delay next to the main fader page and it worked great. As mentioned in an earlier comment, when the PEQ is visible in this mode just a tap on it is required to get to that channels PEQ.
In addition to the HP Slate 21 Pro I use two tablets (Asus T100 and the old Nexus 7) as backups and for moving around the venue. I think Mixing Station still has some work to do, of course, with better use of really big screens and the effects screen. I wouldn't trade this for the iPad based solution in a million years.

[EDIT] looks like I got the wrong topic, sorry.

Did you try to initialize the board? I would try that and/or try some other tried and true scenes. Earphones also sound muffled? Switch L/R xlr physical outputs?

x32 Producer feature request

X32 feature request : Not sure if anyone else has asked for this but here goes.
On X32 producer make fader/layer option to use all 16 faders as input layer 1-16 & 17-32 etc
And use all 16 faders as master faders bus 1 -16 etc

Isn't that what 'fader spill' does now or am I not understanding?

Press the Input buttons CH 1-8 and CH 9-16 on the left side simultaneously and it will do just that.
