Re: changing one parameter through all scenes??

Assuming that your (relative) send level can stay the same for all scenes, what you can do is to select parameter safe for the sends in question ( I guess you're sending to one or two buses) ie. cross off Mix 1 sends and Mix 2 sends if those are the buses in question. Then make the change in the first scene, save this scene (remember that the scene selector will jump to the next scene, so be careful to move the selection back to the active scene before saving). You can change this behaviour in setup-global-Scene go next, it is probably a good idea for this exercise.
When you go to the next scene and load it, the sends for the selected buses will remain unchanged from the previous scene. You can now save that scene and move to the next and repeat 60 times.
This will of course leave the sends for those buses on all channels to the same setting as in your first scene, also the ones you have no need to change, so hopefully all the sends remain unchanged trough all the scenes.
Once the process is finished, turn the parameter safes off and turn your Scene Go Next back on.

Preferably you should do this from a backup show on the XControl,

Thats great, thanks, yes, the send levels are the same throughout the show, will do that, already did similar for my main routing using the library (forgot a delay (doh!!))
The change form analogue to digital isnt quite as easy as first thought :)

Re: lightning strike

I was gone on a business trip to Chicago last week only to come back and find out yesterday that lightning struck our building and took out our S-16's.. Aaron was able to run the service thru all wireless mics kind of "unplugged" ... more details as I can get them... I know the S-16's were on, just wouldn't pass any signal... took out half of our lights, too...

Hi Nick,

Sorry to hear your story! As you can imagine, such events are not covered by warranty (see section 4.8.3 for details). However, should you wish to have the S16's repaired you may find the contact details of your nearest service center here

Re: Printing Current patch

Scott,
I brought the X32Rack back to Behringer R&D yesterday and I saw something really cool. There is a new firmware on its way, that allows you to hook up a fader pack (like the BCF2000 or a Mackie controller) via Midi to the X32-EDIT software! So you will be able to hook up some faders to the X32Rack and Core version in the near future.
Christian
Cool! Was it midi via computer or could you also connect the fader packs directly to the x32 midi input?

Can't you visit the r&d every week or so and tell us what they have on their benches :)

Hmmm, since the x32 already is a mackie controller this would mean that you can control the rack and core using the x32 ;)

BINGO :-)

It was via computer, but maye it works the direct way too..dunno.

Well, I would like to, but I don't want to annoy the guys at the R&D with my visits and stealing their time to work on cool things for us X32 heads:lol:

Re: lightning strike

Was there any overvoltage protection for the S16s?

I know we have some power conditioners/ protectors in the system, but I'm not quite sure what, as they were put in as part of the install. We have an automated system, where, literally, a key is inserted and turned on to "crank up" the sound and lighting systems sequentially.

Thanks Fiona, luckily, we have insurance to cover it. These will probably have to be replaced, but I wonder if they could be repaired for spares... Everything (well, from what little I saw, anyway) seemd to work, it would just not pass signal.

I want to also say that our prized X32 came thru unscathed....:)~:-)~ just we have no stageboxes....

Re: lightning strike

Guys, I need some help. I've got an old computer somewhere. Its a windows XP, 2,2 GHZ dualcore with 2GB memory. I've installed reaper, asio4all and the USB driver. During the installation i got an error that says : Driver has not passed Windows logo testing error. I just ignored it during the installation. But when I setup reaper the right way all I get is a weird sound. Check the link below. I tried several times to install and uninstall the drivers, reaper and Asio4all. But nothing seems to help. Can somebody please help me?

Why would you go with ASIO4All? Use the X32 USB driver IS a Asio driver and you should be good without ASIO4All! BTW: "Driver has not passed Windows logo testing error." is a common "windows thing", no need to worry about that.

Re: Monitor Out Whine

The console came back from Las Vegas Repair, and I'll quote in full from the "Repair Details: Found Fault/Work Carried Out" sections:

"Mute group 5 button works intermittently. MG #1 functioning nominally. Needs headphone rework. Unable to recreate audio complaint from monitor output. No power cable or dust cover in box.

"Mute switch 5 replaced. All mutes switches refitted. Performed all required manufacturer mods. Full functional check." (Emphasis added.)

On a positive note, the mute buttons are all working nicely now, and the headphone outs do indeed seem quieter, although the 6k noise is still audible at full volume.

Needless to say, the monitor output noise is exactly as it was, so I think it's fair to say that until the service techs are able to identify the problem, there is not much chance anything will change in that area. I'd kind of hoped that because I've been a squeeky wheel here about this noise, that the techs would be prepared perhaps more than normal to search for a problem, but apparently the analysis system used for such things is the tech's ears in whatever ambient noise field exists in the shop, along with whatever state their ears are in (meaning if they have a hard time hearing 6kHz or not).

I say that because as has been shown in this thread, the problem definitely shows up in FFT analysis, so if they can't find it they are not using very sophisticated analysis tools.

As a refresher for the reader, the monitor out volume control is actually an attenuator and not a gain boost/cut control, so that full clockwise rotation (to "max") results in unity gain through that system rather than an increase in volume relative to the source's output ("left/right" on XLR's 15/16 in my case). If your use does not require unity gain and you can turn down the Monitor Out pot, then you will probably not be bothered by the noise, as it is pre-pot.

You also won't be bothered if you don't hear 6kHz very well.

Other than that, the repair process was pretty painless, and quick; it was just about two weeks, which is very reasonable IMHO.

Re: X32 solo channel

Nope, it's voodoo bullshit. Seriously.
The reason for external word clock is to make multiple digital devices work together without clock synchronization issues.

Lol - thanks for the confirmation. I always suspected the fidelity arguments were specious marketing fluff at best but didn't just have the experience with it.

Re: X32 Permissions

As for a Thirdparty doing it, I've been thinking about extending the X32's abilities, perhaps if I have some time :) The only problem is, the X apps all interface directly with the console, so doing permissions is challenging/impossible without firmware support(or software support in Behringer apps).

Not at all. It's simple, really - the X32 can only be "seen" by the computer running the control software.

Either the computer and X32 are on one network, and then the computer is on a completely separate network with the wifi for the other devices, or the computer and X32 are linked over USB and then the computer is on the network with the wifi devices.

If the computer with the control software is the only thing that can "see" the X32, then the X32 firmware does not need to change one bit from how it is today. The control software/computer becomes a proxy for all communications to the X32, and acting as a gatekeeper full control as granular as you want can be maintained.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be ambitious - especially for a third party - but I think it would be a heck of a lot faster to do something as involved as permissions on a computer rather than fiddling with firmware on a device that with each firmware update you can brick the device if you are not VERY careful.

TL;DR version - doing on the PC would be much faster without fear of breaking stuff as easily :)

Re: Monitor Out Whine

Yep -

I've had 2 x32s now, (to try and get rid of the noise) and the latest went in to Behriger for a procedure to reduce the monitor noise - It's still there and it's terrible. Hopefully they'll figure out a fix before the warranty runs out!

Re: X32 Permissions

Conceptually it should be fairly straightforward if one sets it up as a network bridge with a filter for messages coming from the devices, then the X32 could still be the host and see and be seen by all the devices. Having a program to be the X32 client and host to the devices is a fairly simple concept as well, but I fear that the implementation is a bit heavier. I'm sure there are a few people out there that could do it fairly comfortably with the knowledge they have already accumulated about the X32 and OSC, but if I was starting from scratch I'd look into a filtered bridge. I haven't looked for software that would fit that concept, but I'm sure it's out there.

Re: Monitor Out Whine

Hi All...I'm new here. I'm using (and loving) an X32 as a project studio board, and I have done a lot of searching to see if SONAR (currently X1,Producer) has EVER addressed the MIDI handshake issue with the X32 as a control surface. I've been using SONAR for YEARS, and have many many files in SONAR format, but I've recently downloaded REAPER to try it out, and the control surface abilities are making me want to bag SONAR entirely. (Thanks, Roland...) Does anyone know of any updates or workarounds so that the X32 will function as a proper control surface for SONAR?? YET???

Thanks all.. Jim

Re: Monitor Out Whine

I guess we'll just have to device a test for them. It should be fairly simple, just a scenefile and an xlr lead.

Simpler yet: a console, an XLR lead, and a computer with an XLR interface and a copy of SMAART or something similar.

Plus a thumb and a finger to turn the attenuator up to unity.

BTW, mine came back with the attenuator at unity...

(which is where it was when I sent it)
